Hey guys!
I have a few questions for this, if you guys have killed Kurrea the Galliard trousers nm:
1) how many people did u go off with?
2) what was ur main strategy?
3) Did u guys have more mages (blms) or other melee damage dealers?
4) this is a wiierd question, but my ls was able to kill Shen, the bibiki bay NM, IF you have killed Shen... in you opinion is Kurrea harder or easier than Shen?

1) Full 18 at least, maybe another 1-2 on the outside healing.
2) Deal as much dmg as possible as quickly as possible.
3) Only like...2-3 blm's as far as I can remember.
4) We've lost to both, we've beaten Kurrea but have yet to go for our rematch for Shen.

Basically, bring as much DD as you possibly can. SC as you can, MB for as much as you can. We just fought him at his soup so the melee could still DD.

I've seen an LS take it with lots of mages. They were on the west side away from Kurrea. Kurrea wouldn't stay long, he'd get hit a few times, then run over the mountain back to his soup. Eat his soup and run back around to them. They'd spam nukes again and then he'd run away again and they repeated.

A few pointers on the fight:

My LS did it w/ 14. We had fun, but it was a little troublesome. When people on my server check me and ask about the pants and the fight, my response is simple "Fun".

This is easily the funnest (lol, funnest) fight I have done in this game.

Kurrea is just plain silly. When you place your soup at the shack, he comes at you from the northeast.

Every 20-30 seconds Kurrea stops fighting and returns to the soup. This is completely unavoidable. He cannot be stun locked, he cannot be bound/shadowbound, and he cannot be voke-distracted.

You can do a search of KI for Kurrea to find an exact list of what buffs he does.

Basically, the longer the fight goes, the harder it can become. Any buff he gets from the soup stays on him until he gets the soup-dispel. Any buff he puts on himself (read: not a soup buff) can be dispelled.

After slurping his soup, I found that he was immune to the next two or three ranged attacks. Not just with specific soup effects, but all of them.

It also seems that returning to the soup is a hate reset, because he would go after a BLM almost every time after slurping.

That's all I can think of offhand at the moment, if I can remember any other details, I'll post em.

People that have beaten Kurrea, I was just wondeirng about his attacks... What makes him so deadly? Would you consider using a Ninja tank, or a paladin? When he runs away, he's unstunnable, but when he's fighting your alliance, is he stunnable?

For a safe battle, we fought near the Tav.Safehold entrence.

He doesn't lose hate to/from the soup so its not an issue. It gives you time to rest, recover and build tp. The more he buffs, the more you'll like Spirits Within, usually though a quick beatdown with as many BLM as possible seems to be the best strategy. We used Ninja tank since he can hit pretty damn hard with buffs. If you're smart you can with 12 or less, I don't recommend it since he can draw out forever. Fights are either 10minutes or 2hours.

mmmmmm, trousers

I think the difficulty of the fight comes down to how he wants to buff himself. He can be immune to physical or to magic, and like gov said it can draw out to forever depending on your luck at the soup house.

1) how many people did u go off with?
Full ally of tanks, DD and blms. We kept the whms outside the ally both at shen and at kurrea.

2) what was ur main strategy?
Kill it in the face asap. Melee either did skillchains or spirits. Light/frag on Shen, Darkness/distortion on kurrea.

3) Did u guys have more mages (blms) or other melee damage dealers?
We had as many blms as we could at the time... I think for shen we had about 7-8 blm, then some rdm also nuking, a couple of tanks/melee with spirits and pretty much just one skillchain, whereas for kurrea we had one blm pt and skillchains going over and over again until it (or we) were dead.

4) this is a wiierd question, but my ls was able to kill Shen, the bibiki bay NM, IF you have killed Shen... in you opinion is Kurrea harder or easier than Shen?
I think Shen is easier, although Kurrea CAN be as easy as shen if you're lucky. Shen is easy to consistently take down quickly, Kurrea can be taken down quickly if it doesn't go for the soup right away and your melee/blms are on top of things. We have only been able to kill Kurrea a couple of times, I think we are 2/5 or something on him. Shen we killed every time, 9 times in all.

what my LS and i did was everyone gathered around the exit to tavansia safehold
after the bridge and a tank poped him.

then ran all the way back to us with the NM going back for his soup about halfway.

at the bridge all the meele were killing things to build TP until he finnaly came, where we unloaded on him.

after about 20-30 seconds he began to run back, so our bst pulled out CC and made it chase after him so we didn't lose claim. while he ran back to the soup our meele once again built tp.

he came back fully refreshed so we guessed he had auto regen buff for a good 10-15 minutes, because the LS member we had at the soup to see his buffs said he was refreshed before he started to drink.

then we noticed we chipped away large chunks of hp after that 10-15 minutes, so we guess thats how long his auto regen lasted.

the whole fight lasted about 45-1 hour because he ran all the way back and forth alot.
we popped him 2 times, the first time we were unprepared and almost wiped, so we all ran to tavzaina safehold zone where he followed, so we gave it one last go and found we started to do major damage. then we realized, by the time he got to the bridge his soup effects wore off giving us the upper hand in the battle.

halfway through our second spawn, some asshole claimed him because we lost claim for a second, and he came back and started slaughtering us for a run, so we all zoned, except for our guy by the soup and the idoit that tried to steal was killed letting us get back to work

when "Kurrea's wouds dissapear" happened we knoticed he gained back a good 25% HP. hope this helps. we only had 3 blms, the rest besides a few rdms and whm were dd

also the reason he is so deadly, is because he can fast cast tornado w and aeroga 3

tornado, which unless you have over 2.3k HP will one shot you, and aeroga 3 which killed half our alliance most of the time..that sucked lol

our strat was basically have the alliance over at the bridge near tavnazian safehold, have a pt kite the mob as it random buffs until it drinks and goes green in the face, this kills its regen, then have them bring it over to the alliance, have 3 skillchain orders that make light. have 1 group go and blms MB, it runs away, have group 2 ready when it gets back, blm mb, then group 3, then back to group 1, etc. just keep building tp on the mobs around until its your turn to go, and melee not in the order should use spirits within.

I did this NM like 12 times, first 2 times we got our ass handed to us.

a blm pt
someone that has provoke
a SC pt

-Have someone with speed+ pop it & run to the bridge by tavnazia safehold.
-Have people fight mobs around tavnazian safehold bridge.
-When kurrea runs there, he will stay for about 8 seconds, quickly SC and mb, he will run back.
-He will come back with reset hate, repeat SCing&MBing as blms is the only way to effectively damage it

Just did this NM 7 times today. We had a Nin and Pld/Nin tanking it. Fought it right at the shed. Basically, we just rotated people in and our after building TP and made as many skillchains as possible while SATAing off of the Pld/Nin and bursting as hard as we could. The rest of it is all luck with its buffs. The only one we lost was when someone accidentally CFH >_> We all logged off and let it go unclaimed, but it had buffed itself up too much to the point of where it was hitting us for 700+ no crit, so we just zoned it. Really not that hard of a fight if you know what you're doing ;o

My shell has done this fight several times with only a few successes. I'll give you what we did when we won.

1. How many people?
We came in with a full alliance along with about 10 extras outside the alliance to swap in for TP dumps.

2. What was your main strategy?
We had the dd's skillchaining darkness with the blackmages bursting on every one that they could. We pulled him back into the middle of the large field to the right of the shed. We had a mixture of both paladins and ninjas in the tanking party.

3. We had more DD's than mages by far. I believe we only had 3 blm's left on our very last run of the night.

4. I would say Shen was much easier for my l/s to kill in comparison to Kurrea. Kurrea is just a bitch.

Like all CoP NM's, I think luck plays a huge role.

I remember our first run at it, he healed himself every time he drank soup.

The run we won, he didn't heal himself like 3 times in a row.

And just so you monkies know, he's immune to chi-blast for a bit after he drinks.
