Daemun :
Firstly, by sub-categorizing each individual part of a character and allowing customization, this is a difference in the view of the gameplay when these characters are in sight. This difference must be sent to the server and the server must allot for these changes. Once that is done, then the server can send the new information to every character in view. If every single character has done this, the lag time and skipping will make us all feel like we all have 14.4K dial-up again. I'm so glad that you PC folks are asking for that. I, myself love high-speed internet and am a PS2 gamer on FFXI. Not to mention the fact that every since FF 4, SE has had an ablsolute seclusion contract with Sony. If FF online were to drop a console, it would be XBox and any computer with the Microsoft Windows running program, then all of us PS2 players would have the game to ourselves. Next time, before posting, either know what you're talking about, or do some homework.

You're a fucking retard. Go check out the custom UIs in WoW and come back and post. There's actually less lag server-side than in FFXI, even with custom UIs. There's nothing being sent to the servers besides the normal scripting, which UIs can expand upon in their own coding.
For example, in WoW to cast a spell (by rank) you'd have to have this in a macro: /script CastSpellByName(Hunter's Mark[Rank 8]); with a UI such as Cosmos (which was broken unintentionally by Blizzard in their 1.10 patch) you can just put: /script CastSpellByName(Hunter's Mark) and it will automatically cast Hunter's Mark Rank 8, or whatever your highest rank is.
With only 255 characters allowed in each macro, you can bet that something like that helps a lot, expecially for those of us that have "spam" macros. (Macros that do multiple things, that you spam-mash to get their full effect.)
The screenshots of that UI are from a custom UI project for FFXI; I heard about it a while ago on the Archbell forums. There have been some efforts to customize the UI for FFXI, but the only real success (read: not much progress has been made thanks to SE being retards) has been the one that makes the FFXI menus look old school.
Anyway, all of you PS2 users need to get out of your little box. It's like all you've eaten your entire life is American food, and while there's nothing wrong with that, you're missing out on the Japanese, Chinese, Thai, Mexican, French, Italian, and numerous other types of food. That's the PC experience as opposed to the PS2. (Sorry if I made anyone hungry, it was the best way to put it that I could think of right now.)
