As a rdm,thf and monk in ballista, I say let them use there /ra. Its only effective if u not prepared to kick azz. Use blink stoneskin somethin. I bet yo azz just runs out there with 0 buffs.
Changing Bolts should be a Penalty

I think you're all missing the fact that there actually is some logic behind the rules as they stand... sort of like how changing ammo doesn't cost you TPs either.
If you're going to change gear or a weapon or whatever, then there is presumably some make-believe bag that you're carrying around with all your spare shit in - and you have to actually stop and remove one item, put it in the bag, get the other item out, put it on, etc.
Until I see an xbow with a banana clip, then you're loading a new bolt every time you fire it anyway, so it shouldn't matter from a gameplay standpoint which bolt you pull out of your invisbile quiver.

But still if anything his main complaint is that warriors are landing bolts on him like it aint a thing. It dont seem like much of a complaint about being penalized from bolt switching. Yea sure using tons of bolts without any penalty from switchin seems unfair but hey if u dont like it dont ballista.

Speaking as a red mage, getting hit by a random sleep bolt sucks, but I solo alot, my evasion is pretty high compared to rdms who ride the party exp parties to 75. Most job classes have a problem pegging me with a bolt, and if htere is a problem, I can nail insence.
The only problem I have with the ballista rules as is, that during a respawn, you get full HP, but only half MP. (And no, if that means you have half your MP, you WONT get full MP back) While melee jobs, with their damage abilities, can jump right back into the fray at full strenght, mage classes, most of which lack abilities like convert, return at only HALF strenght. (which basically makes mages go back to camp every time they die, removing their ability to help the group in a pintch)
I'll get through without it, but its just a added difficulty that further makes jobs like monk/nin, seem like an exploit of the game rather than a part of it.

Khalea :
an xbow with a banana clip
an xbow with a banana clip
That'd be awesome. >_>
Bolts are annoying, but a ton of things are annoying in Ballista. Get used to it and quit bitchin'.

What SE should do is make the additional effect on bolts go off about as much as the additional effect on melee weapons. Giving anyone who can use a crossbow infinite Blood Weapon seems kinda wrong to me.
not even close you have delays between weapons and you only get max of 50 i believe?
but if you are fighting one on one it is very usless using bloody bolts because the person will
hit you quicker then you use the bolts. Well depends on the job.

Bolts already HAVE been nerfed in ballista. After Sleep Bolt #2, there is very little chance for the added effect to proc on someone. Bloody bolts I've drained as little as 10hp from mages and after a few shots never got more than 30hp. Magic Defense Bonus + Shell are your friends.
If you want to nerf my bolts, I want to nerf your magic. I get hit for 300+ by Thundaga's from a rdm. They have a what in elemental magic? C? I have absolutely no way of defending against that, all my aid of avoiding that damage is from other jobs helping me. Mages have a big advantage in ballista if they know what they're doing. Especially rdm's, you're one of the strongest jobs in ballista, stop complaining.

Squirrels should play Ballista more >.> I never see him <.< In fact, a lot more NA on Siren should play. These days, three uncapped matches in a row can be cancelled during NA play time. JP time, they are filled to at least 12 people per team.

In one match, 30 cap, I was playing pld, and the other team had a thf. I died as some point, and as I got up I saw the thief running off with about 10% hp. Having just died, I had full hp and half my mp.
I catch up with the thief and start attacking. All she does is stand there and fire bloody bolts. Over the course of the fight, I used my mp, all three incenses (I wasn't sure if spiritual would work or not), invincible, a potion, a high potion and an ether. Yet when the fight was done I was dead and the thief, having used no items, was at 90% health.
So yeah, I stand by my statement.

if u gonna penaltilize war or w/e for switching bolts then i suggest we penalize mages every time they use a -ga twice in a row just a thought >_>

I agree with Cladius, besides if your too afraid of a couple bolts, then mabye you should grab some celestial essence...or better yet not play ballista :yes
