Let's not lie to ourselves. In Ballista, there're three things that kill people:
1) Groups
2) Bind/Stun/Sleep and then the Groups
3) Me (okay, haha, yes I know)
But in all seriousness, for that second one, is it unreasonable or stupid to load up on Ice/Thunder/Dark in hopes of resisting these things? A clear getaway and/or an un-interupted attack would make you alot more successful... for yourself and your team.

Grab a Genin Mantle and sub Ninja. Bind becomes trivial.

I believe that, in Ballista, a higher resist as oppose to a lower resist shows far more than when you are forced to attempt to resist a spell or ability used by a monster.
For example, if I stack Baraero and Barsilence on myself, I notice the amount of times Silence via spell, weaponskill or otherwhys lands on me is cut drastically (resisting 4/5 times from a RDM that casted Silence on me)
So you never know, loading up on Elemental resistance might actually be a very valid strategy, as long as you are actually concentrating on it, not like it is just your neckpiece or something.

Is the mantle that amazing? Last night as thf/nin in uncapped a 72 rdm/rng bound me (with the spell) twice... I don't have the mantle, but yeah...

Flawless Ribon and 2x Arte Del Sole and you should be unstunnable/bindable/sleepable, then just BarAero and BarSilence for silence. Only takes up 3 spots so you can still pimp the other slots. This just leaves the problem of Thungaga III which could be weakened a bit with a Earth Belt and of course Byakko Hidate for you bastard melee.. I own none of these items even though I ballista a -lot-... >.>
I think there may be some other items with decent thunder resist that don't take up important slots, I'll go check.
Edit: Jeweled Colar is +10 reisist to all elements but light and dark, I might get one of em. >.>
Edit 2: Wow, there's enough items out there with +10 to all resist to possibly make it worth stacking on ele resist for mage heavy matches.. >.< D'oh~

It's pretty noticeable. Except uncapped may be a different story, with all the incredible gear that can up debuffing spells. You already have two Resist Bind traits with a Ninja sub this will add a whole extra one. My experiences are predominately 60 cap, so I can't really say for uncapped, but even with only the two traits, I get a decent amount of resists. I only use the Mantle when the opposition is Bind happy, and it definately is worth it.

I'm not so sure about resist gear. But when i play as my RDM, I use Baraero to resist Silence and Gravity drastically.
But since thatis already a common thing to do(damn copy cats), I also use Barparalyze since people know that the chances of landing Silence is slim, so they Paralyze first. You gotta find the unique way to mix up the resist spells.
Also, if there is no Silencer on the opposing team, but theres still risk of being bound(DRK or BLM/NIN), use Barblizzara to resist being bound.
Theres many more options, use your imaginaation. (ie: barthundera for Stun)

You'd think that, but actually, I never used to do it at all. Then a SAM kept challenging me in Diorama and beat me because of Tachi:Gekko. So I used the two for once and the chance of being silenced by Tachi:Gekko got reduced to like...none.

Frisk, did you have any -elemental gear? I can bind silly Nins in Scorpion Harnesses 80% of the time, just from the -20 ice resistance.
Edit: On a side note, I recommend getting at least 10 or so in elemental resist even if you have the trait, just not being a nuetral target to the element of the spell is big. I think most mages will tell you, baraero is more effective at blocking silence than barsilence.

Yeah, I also think resistance is not scaled properly...
I have -7 ice from Sirocco Kukri, so I get bound and paralyzed OFTEN. But the most thundaga 3 has ever hit me for hit me when I had Barthunder on and my Adroit ring, I had 85 thunder resist. It was earthsday and he was using earth staff...but hit me for over 900 dmg.

Odd. Generally when I try to stun someone with even one, I get resisted 3/10 times which I'd consider much better than then normal 0/10 resist rate.
