Kiken & Evilblackdragon it seems don't read other people's posts. You CAN do one on one already, theres not really anything to add.

Lucavi said it best:
(Lucavi)
1v1(official) = Everyone and their mother as /nin, trying to wear down eachother, or /sam, trying to one-shot one another with "teh big WS!!". Collosal e-peen factor. Only those with hardcore gear equips score wins. Lag becomes a major issue. NA's begin to curse out JPs that have no latency issues with cries like "he WSed me while I was far away!!" "He's hitting me way out of attack range!" "His casting never gets interrupted!!". And most importantly, the fact that it has absolutely nothing to do with the storyline, which is a prerequsite for just about everything that gets implimented into the game.

One on one can be done already. Nuff said.

1 vs 1 would be goddamn retarded. There are some jobs that just naturally kick ass in Ballista. Look at Monk and Red Mage. Two jobs that it doesn't take much in terms of gear and skill to be good at. Add on some truly good gear, and a player with more than a few neurons responding inside their head, and they'll all naturally sit up around the top 10 spot. Two hours notwithstanding.

And yeah, as said before, you can always reserve Diorama. If you're too lazy to do that, it obviously doesn't mean that much to you.

...well now, that was a tad bit rude there wasn't it? Perhaps you don't understand why we're upset, it isn't so much that "z0mg I can't one shot you biotch!". Despite what a few people here have said 1v1 does take a certain ammount of skill to be able to succeed at, the same can be said for most things.

We're simply upset that there is no representation for something so many players take part in, as stated before SE will not like you take a shit in this game without an alliance. I'm all for team Ballista, it's a challenge (Although I really disagree with the epeen thing Lucavi) and it's loads of fun...but really we've already done the team thing. Sure it may be flawed, but you couldn't simply fix the flaws in it instead of introducing more of the same?

Heck, even a deathmatch setup pvp all the time would have been a welcome addition because it's something different. << This is going to be more of the same old crap we always see, everyone and their mother subbing NIN. (Which could be said for most things as well.

As for Gelwain...I normally don't disagree with you, you're probably one of the more knowledgable players on our server especially when it comes to Ballista. However I really do have to disagree with your view of team ballista. We're on the same server, so I don't see how you experiance can be all that different...from what I've seen in any cap it's everyone /NIN and playing hit and run. Often or not talking mass ammounts of shit while not really contributed anything to the party other than another body to put petra in the rook.

I find that there may be more shit talking in nation matches than 1v1, I mean in 1v1 if you talk shit the guy can always get back up and just put some Lance, Axe, Scythe, Sword, Club what have you into you. Nation matches it's often "Haha bitch u deadz0r! I ar3 t3h l337!" /moronrunawayandscoredespitenothavingeventouchedyou. Which is infuriating for a player trying to work with the team, when you have to constantly be reminding your team members "Hey dude...seriously stop talking shit."

Wtf is wrong with you people... the update didn't come out yet, so stop with all these god damn "I disagree with the new form of Conflict" You haven't even played it, and you are already flaming it... And who gives a damn about whose subbing /NIN in Ballista.. Let them!!! In my server, stupid noobs sub /NIN. Everyone makes a big deal about subbing /NIN when it really just sucks in the lower caps...It doesn't seem effective till uncap. If you really want to go one on one, go on Halo 2 and do Head 2 Head. Ballista is about team work, not I can kill a DRG with my WHM..

but.. SE stop being stubborn, 1 on 1 matches please.

I'v done 1 on 1 matches before. Diorama - Ghelsba Outpost, give a pass only to the guy you're fighting, go in, fight. What more do you need? The ability to go one on one with someone is already there. Theres really nothing to add other then something to send your challenge to another player but you can do that just by talking to them. A zone only you two can enter to fight, see above, Diorama - Ghelsba Outpost.

I would like a SMALL arena, like a room in the shape of a circle, no running away, and where it doesn't cost anything to do, allow multiple duels at the same time, have like 10 mirror zones.

@Geo, almost every job can be pretty damn good at ballista, it's about skill level, and pld/rdm is one of the best... so... yea...

There is an area in the Ghetto Ghelsba where you can have a closed circle match, its the same area where you have your normal BCNM matches. I use it all the time for BCNM matches on one one. First one to either kill the other, or run out of the circle looses

You can do that with any one of the smaller areas of the zone, like the logs, the long bridges, the caveways. You can have multiple duals at once in Dierrea Ghelsba, thats the fun of renting it out!

Do you know why SE will not release 1 on 1 battle?

Because it will show how useless their attempts to make all jobs balanced, have been.

Ninja starts casting Utsusemi: Ni on Ninja.
Ninja gains the effect of blink.
Summoner starts casting Garuda on Summoner.
Ninja hits Summoner for 78 points of damage.
Ninja hits Summoner for 69 points of damage.
Summoner's casting is interrupted.
Ninja hits Summoner for 77 points of damage.
Ninja hits Summoner for 89 points of damage.
Summoner starts casting Diaga on Ninja.
Summoner casts Diaga.
Ninja takes 0 points of damage.
Ninja starts casting Jubaku: Ichi on Summoner.
Summoner starts casting Garuda on Summoner.
Summoner casts Garuda on Summoner.
Ninja casts Jubaku: Ichi.
Summoner is paralyzed.
Summoner starts casting Cure III on Summoner.
Summoner is paralyzed.
Ninja starts casting Utsusemi: Ni on Ninja.
Ninja gains the effect of blink.
Ninja hits the Summoner for 57 points of damage.
Ninja hits the Summoner for 72 points of damage.
Ninja hits the Summoner for 62 points of damage.
Summoner uses Blood Pact.
Garuda readies Predator Claws.
3 of Ninja's shadows absorb the damage and disappears.
Ninja hits the Summoner for 58 points of damage.
Ninja hits the Summoner for 76 points of damage.
Ninja readies Blade: Jin.
Ninja uses Blade: Jin.
Summoner takes 488 points of damage.
Summoner was defeated by Ninja.

Lets not pit Bard against anyone with resist sleep or high damage WS's. I may be able to get over 2,000 HP as Bard, and tons of defense, but lets face it. That will not help me if I can not kill anyone unless I have 300% TP for Spirits Within.

SE -says- that they try their hardest to balance all jobs and make everything fair. Yet BLM can do 900 damage to 30 people at the same time in one cast in Ballista, Thief can completely avoid almost all melee hits and WS's, even single target spells, while hitting almost non stop to build TP and WS for hit damage, not to mention they can steal and mug petras, use sleep bolts to sleep someone and Sneak Attack(WS) on them. Then we get to the two handed weapon jobs... Samurai can build TP fast, but has absolutly no multi hit WS's, and horrid accuracy, so shadows will absorb WS, and unless you have Soboro Sukehiro equipped to hinder your WS damage at the benefit of being able to hit two or three times in a row sometimes, you -can not- get past shadows. It takes 4.5 seconds just to swing a Great Katana. Not counting misses, thats almost 20 seconds just to get through Utsusemi: Ni. Then they can cast Ichi for another 3 shadows to get them through the remaining timer on Ni. At least Dark Knight has Stonega to remove shadows, but then you get stuck with incredibly low speed on melee swings, and only one multi-hit WS.

I think its funny how SE went and nerfed Rangers because they hit for 100 damage per arrows every 3-5 seconds, and 200-1000 damage on WS every minute or more (not on Berserked mobs.) Yet they let a BLM solo almost anything, and a team of BLM's kill things like Diabolos Prime, Fenrir Prime, all five Ark Angels at once, Aspidochelone KS99, and things of that nature, in seconds. Black Mage can dish out upwards of 10,000 damage per MP pool, then rest for a few minutes -without- refreshes, and do another 10,000 damage. If tank can keep hate, Black Mage can log out really quick and log back in to lose all hate without risking the loss of TP like Ranger.

SE needs to set their priorities straight, and seriously relook at how 'balanced' things really are.

One last thought:
SE strives to make Ballista a team event...

Yet players purposely go after the physically weakest member of the other team, in order to score a quick Gate Breach.

Thus causing this weakest member to defend themselves, neglecting the real 'teamwork' part of it. Unless your party members kill all six members on the other team before your 600-800 HP is gone, you will ALWAYS be the first if not -only- job to die. Without enmity effects on other players like it does on computer controlled monsters, some jobs become completely vulnerable, and weak. Others become extremely overpowered.

(Come on SE, giving WHM some Acc gear is not making up for your lack of interest in protecting mages jobs from being obligated to have a tank protect them. Its stupid, and makes it almost required for a mage to level another job to 75 just to get anything done alone. Such as farming.)

And on that note.
I am going to go make breakfast, hop in the shower, and brush my teeth. Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

That only works if the BLM is the most obvious member of the opposite team. Something far more typical of intelligent teams is the melee are obvious, being the only ones that you can really aim at so you give it a go to kill them. Then BLM pops out of nowhere and nukes you silly while you paying attention to the WAR in front of you.

Happy Valentines Day everyone!!

This Hallmark Holiday has been unspectacular this year. I don't even see couples O_o
