That's even possible? I've never actually seen anybody do it (especially since, when people on our server play, we generally stay on one portion of the map the whole time, like the middle). Until I came to these boards, I had no idea people can even zone during the Ballista match as a way to get away from people. I myself wouldn't do it...but still...

Zoning During a Match

I felt bad for doing it. But one time, in a 30 cap ballista, i went as my SMN just for merit points. I play the job awsomely, but theres just somuch you can do lol. I didnt even have 300HP>.>.
Anyways, this DRK kept picking on me and waiting til I re-popped and killed me again. So to show this JP biotch a lesson, I zoned his ass into Davoi. I wasn't very happy to have to zone someone, but damn it felt good.

Had a monk do it in Jugner30. Debating on naming the mithra, but I wont do so for now.
Basically, she was getting her ass whooped, was like a 4v4 or something, and she zoned out, full rested, came back.
Next match I saw her, pashow40, I saw her coming towards me and I politely told her, in a tell, "The zone is the OTHER way, kthx."
The rest of that match was priceless.

Now another thing I'm wondering is how anybody manages to do it. On our server, all of our fights take place in pretty much the surrounding 9 or so position squares around the Herald. Nobody ever strays so far as to get to the zones.

Even if I could manage to do it, I wouldn't, shit like that is called being a pussy, just like running in circles around people.
: "Haha I can exploit a glitch in the battle system so you can't hit me!"

either way it's still a cheap as shit battle tactic.

*Points to the word "tactic"* If it can be countered, it's fair game.. only things that bother me are things you cannot effectively counter (coming out of battle prep engaged on a person in the thick of combat for example) What's really funny is most people who use the "circling" trick lose more combat rounds themselves if it's not done properly.

It can't be countered by those using Ranged Weapons. Which is why it's cheap and unfair. Anyone who beats me 1 v 1 and circles me during the fight does not get my respect. You took away a big portion of my power, it wasn't a fair fight...

By the same token.. asking someone go vs you toe to toe in a Nation match is just silly.. you move around so that parry, counter, guard, abilities like that are nullified. If you're talking one versus one matches of course it's stupid. Why bothering setting up a match if you're just going to dance?
When I use ranger and someone is close enough to me to be "circling" I'm already in a bad situation.. and I get away. On thief.. usually the same thing.. close combat for a thief doesn't rely nearly as much on ranged shots though.. but you can still step back, fire, step back, fire.. I've done it.
It's not a "fair" tactic.. but it's not really that cheap (or as cheap as some things) due to how easily it's prevented from really hampering your ability to swing at that person. I think the general concesus is that "fair" is for private one on one duels.. and everything goes in Nation matches. Just the nature of the beast, you like it or you just don't put yourself into that situation.

Wow, I didn't know the "circling" tactic is deem cheap by so many. I first learned this trick from JPs (mnk mostly) when I played as a RNG. They almost always killed me. Now I used it when I go against RNG and THF.
I can see Range attack jobs hate it because it hamper their key damage. But if you are not doing a private 1 vs 1, can it being called Cheap? I once killed a rng with this trick but she and a mnk was ganging up on me. I don't think using this tactic is cheap on my part.

Hmm, I'd like to thank people for bringing this to my attention. When I used to engage people in fights, I used to wonder what they were doing by running around. I thought it was really purpose defeating since I was locked onto them anyway so all I had to do was make a single step to be facing them again.
I didn't know it actually hampered Parry and Shield and Guard and such.
