Now listen up, if you don’t know or don’t want any of that stuff in your sig, don’t tell us. You honestly don’t have to tell us to “just have fun” with the background. If you don’t tell us what you want on these last pieces of info, we won’t hand you a blank canvas; we’ll think of something.
Section 2: Etiquette
It is very nice to say the usual “please” and “thank you” that your parents may or may not have taught you growing up. However, there is a limit. We really don’t need any phony “WOW YOUR SIGS ARE SO GREAT”s if you don’t mean it. I have seen people copy and paste their requests into multiple threads with that same first line, showing that it is obviously self-serving and insincere.
In the end, we are making things, and like always, we hope that you like them. If you do, tell us! Don’t be afraid to speak up about what you do or do not like, but be honest.
Also, don’t go in and pretend to care about their personal lives if all you really want is your free sig.

Section 3:Logic
People on Killing Ifrit (especially the sig request portion) have a lot of trouble with this.
First, read the thread title. If it says closed, please don’t request. Request-fillers close because their unpaid workload is too big, so they need a bit of time to finish it off before they can begin more. Unless specifically stated, if you requested before they closed, you will get a sig.
Also, keep in mind that tons of people most likely requested before you did, so don’t be surprised if you don’t get yours right away. Sometimes, it can take up to a week or so! If you are in a huge rush to get a sig, try making one. Check out Pixel2Life to learn some techniques. When you’re done, show off what you’ve made at CAPS MAKE YOU LOOK. SIG RATE/HELP/FEEDBACK/DISPLAY THREAD.CHRIST for advice on what you did right/wrong. It helps to have a sense of humor in there, BTW. Please please please do not make an entirely new thread. People will flame you, and you will deserve it.
The big part of FFXI sigs is usually the character, so let’s talk about those.

Now, remember what section you are reading. Does it make any sense that clicking on Fighter’s Cuisses would be any harder than clicking on Thick Breeches? I really don’t think so. If you can’t decide; that’s fine. You can tell the request-filler that you can’t decide between them, and since he is doing the request, he can choose. Or, just flip a coin.
Also, if you know that an item you are requesting is just a copy of another item (Hoplites Harpe is a copy of the Harpe; All the red kotes are copies of Kote) request the original. In model viewer, it will only list KOTE; NORITSUNE KOTE are nowhere to be found, so if we don’t know what it is, we will either have to do a little research or possibly get it wrong.
+1 items look the same as NQ versions.
Don’t request armor that would fill the finger, neck, ear, waist, or back slot. They won’t show up in your sig, just like how they don’t show up in the game.
Section 4: Grammar
Please please please use periods. You sig-requesters should have fun making those little dots with the crayons you use to write your requests. If I can’t say your request out loud without getting light-headed, it most likely has no periods or commas. This makes it very hard to determine where sentences begin and end, and often makes parts of the request ambiguous.
