Ya I was wondering what your setup and what you were fighting to nail a 1400+ Penta Thrust with Stone Splitter? It has definately got my interest though, going to pick one up asap.

Does anyone use a Martial Lance exclusively in XP parties where they aren't using Wheeling Thrust? I personally sold mine after not finding much use but, can anyone give me a comparison where they have actually found the Martial superior to the O.Lance?

Str gear, but nothing special, on EP mobs. I was doing consistant 1000+ Penta's, where with the same set up I was doing 700-900 Penta's with Ice Lance +1. I am level 74. Lets see, Walkure's Mask, Spike, Coral, Baronne hands, +4 str rings, Amemet, Warwolf, Baronne legs and feet.

The point was that comparatively the Stone-splitter was doing more per Pentathrust than the Ice Lance +1, which is the best 74 polearm. Same gear, same mobs. I would still use Ice Lance +1 in xp parties, but there are many cases when the bonuses from the Stone-splitter make it more effective.

I can only see Martial being better if your making dark SC's. Because using O-lance, SA+wheeling thrust(with about +47 str) was doing 850-990 dmg. I could break 1k now, I'm sure. Plus you'd have the better DoT from higher dmg and 2 acc using O-lance.

I have Gae Bolg and Colossal Lance waiting for me so far. And Orihalcum Lances are way too common so haven't bought one yet. Going to try and get a signed one made if I can instead. Martial Lance and Bourdanousse...got em. And Ice Lance +1s are pretty cheap too so..meh. Other then a couple of armor pieces, ready in gear until 74

I am having a problem, I have +55 strength without food and I use O.Lance. Now this will be from the viewpoint of XPing on birds in Lufaise Meadows with Penta Thrust.

My Weapon Skill Gear is this:Wyvern Helm, Heca body, Heca Gloves, Spike Necklace, Warwolf Belt, Amemit Mantle+1, Barone Pants and Feet, 2xFlame Rings, Bushinomimi and either a Minuet Earring or a Triumph Earring, I also use the Elvaan Male Sachet for another +2 strength. I like to think of my setup as being pretty good. I also have level 6 Polearm merits and capped Critical Hit. My Penta Thrusts are all over the map, like from 200-1090 all over the map! I party with a lot of Dragoons there and they can have far inferior gear to me and outdamage time to time, what is the problem with my WS? I have never nailed a 1100 Penta there yet, but I party with someone who has like +35 strength and they do, I don't get it? This is also testing with either Sole Sushi and Coerl Subs...........I honestly have seen no difference between the 2 foods in my many experiences with both. I generally out dmg any other Dragoons that are there with me but, I just feel my WS's are coming out on the short end of the stick for some reason. Also I understand trying to time the WS when the bird doesn't use the Feather Shield.

For example; I see Ailill bust out crazy friggin Penta's and her strength setup is not much better than mine..........Maybe some advice if you have time. I understand Dexterity is a secondary modifier but with belt/Necklance/Heca Gloves I get a substantial increase to that modifier as well and with Sushi you get a nice boost as well.
Any advice gear setups, lance alternatives you can post would be great. Please base it on Birds in Lufaise Meadows as any other comparisons won't really help me gauge the setup and where the differences are coming from.

Try using impulse since it uses more STR than Penta (seems you are missing dude, i mean 200... come on)

That's really odd, what's your TP return on those pentas?

What's your base attack? If you're sacrificing a lot of attack for str, then you're gonna get wierd returns on your pentas. I suggest you try and setup your gear so that you have a good balance of str and attack.

Man the gungnir would be the best soloing weapon any1 could ever get. I mean w/ that dmg AND the shock spikes how could u ever lose? Ts and VTs wouldn't seem so bad when they're takin that kinda dmg and thats if they arent too stunned to hit u. And the dmg is awsome. It's 25% more powerful than GKL w/ same delay

If your wses are landing in the 2-300 range, you've almost certainly missed a couple hits. Or else you go too late and your first few hits kill the mob, preventing the rest of them from connecting. Sometimes you should leave some acc gear on, all the str in the world won't help if you miss. This is especially true on greater birds. To put it bluntly, because penta's a multi hit, it's always going to have somewhat erratic damage. Just play with your gear a bit until you can land all 5 the majority of times you use it.

Galliard Trousers FTW! +2 str and +5 acc. Besides them, the +acc I use on penta is Hecatomb harness, O-lance, assault earring, shadow gorget and 7 polearm merits.

I eat dragon steak in lufaise and sub WAR. I have about 720 attack and can >EASILY< break 1000 on penta. My highest was 1910 with 1 double attack procing in it.

720 - 150 attack cap on the food * .75(subtracting berserk) = 427.5 attack which I can see since I've been able to get 432 bace attack with a full attack setup. Though I don't know if I would have enough acc like that. In the last bird party I was in, I accidently popped a coreul sub. 4 hit penta did 1100 dmg, lol. Those birds have high def. Attack food or a brd makes DRG hit crazy hard there.

Does Berserk take into account the +ATT from food? I'm at work so I can't log in and check. Either way your equation is wrong, sorry to nit pick You are subtracting 25% of berserked ATT, not 25% of unberserked ATT.

To get original ATT if Berserk does not count food:

720 - 150 = 570 - 20% = 456. (25% of 456 = 114, 114 = 20% of 570)

To get orginal ATT if Berserk does include food:

720 - 20% = 576 - 150 = 426. (426 + 150 = 576. 25% of 576 = 144. 576 + 144 = 720. 144 = 20% of 720)



Original ATT = berserked ATT * 0.8 not 0.75 like in your equation.

My base attack is still quite high. With the strength. I just don't get it. The other day I got an 18 TP return from a Penta and did 337 dmg!! It is starting to drive me crazy
