For me as of now... Brenner > Ballista
Although I still <3 Ballista

I only did 2 sessions (with the 3 matches each), one uncapped and one 40 cap Official Match. I was 43 whm in the uncapped... And I still loved it. But, that wans't very interesting compared to the OM 40... (also as whm)

The OMs I think are going to be the most interesting matches. The turnout for it was 20~ ppl for the first match, 30~ for the 2nd, and then 40~ for the third.
As whm I landed every enfeeble, killed more people then most of my teammates... And even got to score (flame score~) once. I think Brenner is a lot more open to all of the jobs, because you have a smaller space. (zerging the tower vrs. the smn -- small spaces = smn not noticed) And, during the OM, no one partied at all. So -aga spam was used only against blinkers and this really increased the fun 10x. Brenner favors more of lightning tactics where Ballista encouraged trench-type warfare more. The one dissapointment I had with Brenner is that most people on my team just went "omgz free for all." They would ignore the not-so-sneaky monk that would run past them and start beating on our brenner... I think mostly because people didn't quite understand the rules yet.. and the whole flame-brenner connection. (and the protheus' are the best things ever... nothing beats being in a 1 on 1 (I use that term lightly) and running your opponent into aggro range for one. >biggrin.gif)

......You guys can't compare Ballista to Brenner! They are way two diffrent things....Brenner like said before is open to more classes like mages and Ballista is more melee.... The thing I hold about Ballista is that it takes about 10-15 minutes until you find the enemy and wait to see who has the balls to attack first. Ballista you need rank 3 and a Ballista Liscense.. >.> Brenner you don't need any thing and you can host, watch, and participate in almost any match (even private most of the times)

IMO, Ballista needs more smaller places like the one for Brenner to avoid people just waiting half the game to find someone.....

I have played Brenner in 60 cap and 30 cap.... And in each cap, I have noticed that NOONE WAS ON DEFENSE THE WHOLE ENTIRE GAME! Every1 just played offense and got a nice Silence for the mages, Bind and Gravity for the melee, Sleep for every1, and 12 Melee owning the crap out of every1.. I lost all 3 matches >.< Lol.... Freakin Galka MNK still one-shotted a Taru BLM...

Overall i had fun...

In Fun Factor- Brenner

In Strategy Factor- Ballista

Overall- I can't really tell... I like Ballista's system of scoring and hate that stupid Flamme crap, but I love the killing and small places in Brenner...

Just try out both of them and see what you like the most.... They are extremely diffrent though..

Well, considering this is my frist FFXI PVP event, I think it was ok. yes the battlefield is small, but I like it. I like that fact that there is NO place to hide, and everyone is vulnerable. I like it that theres not enough room for mages to run and hide. I like that fact that its basically an all out zerg. I'm sure they'll put many more PvP options in the game, but for now, this is a damn good time. Especially with people you know.

/clap I agree with Korenaga 100 percent ^^ The only thing that bugs me about Brenner is that you don't fully use the island...You are in one spot the whole match.. I like that alot but they should of made the island much smaller to fully use the island. I have found many spots to hide but noone will go their since theirs no Brenners, lol. Brenner is so much fun with like 20 people in one spot trying to kill each other with Posten's using Firaga and other spells wooping the crap out of people.

I have done 10 cap, 30 cap, and 50 cap and its soo MUCH fun... 10 cap is my favorite! Little noobie hell!

Has any1 noticed that Mages tend to own Melee faster in Brenner than Ballista? I have found Mages to be extremely deadly in Brenner. Mostly BLM own everything... They have Bind, Sleep, Poisonaga for Shadows, nukes, heals, everything, lol. I have a feeling that Brenner was made for mages to have more fun than they would have in Ballista with melee doing 1.4k damage off as Raging fists and getting one-shotted lol. I believe that damage reduction WAS not A NERF.

*Spoiler, Well not really but still*

In the cutscenes and storyline you notice that theirs a PVP for Bastok Miners and a PVP for San D' Orian Knights, Brenner and Ballista. But, the Windurstians hint that they might have their own PVP to add to the collection.. Just wondering if anybody had an idea what it would be...

I thought it was great, but right now it's just fun, I think SE can make it a very in-depth sport later and I believe they will, just like Ketaru said
(Ketaru)
Ballista was a huge disappointment when it first came out. It will be tweaked until it is competitive and people like it.
when ballista first came out they tweaked it until it was more balanced and enjoyable, I think the same thing will happen with Brenner and it will become a great form of conflict. Plus the LS Liga is a great idea, as adventurers, our pride is in our ls more than our nation.

Oh my god. I played this last night it was fun as hell! I loved it more than i thought i would, fantastic, theres actually more things to do now. No more people that hide in the background not doing anything and leeching gate breaches. My only gripes are...

Posetrons(sp?) - BLM/WAR? :o_O Man these things are annoying as hell.
Scoring - You should be able to intturpt it like you do in normal ballista while scoring.
Area - Everything is too close together (or maybe the MC just put them too close, idk) There was a whole other side of the map that wasnt even used. But the setting is oh so sexy.

I love this. If you come here and play Brenner as if it's ballista, you are a moron and should go back to jeuno and pick "Diorama Abjsdklahsddddddddddddd"

This one needs strategy, needs teamwork, if someone has the flame, spam their name in LS chat so everyone can gang rape, etc.

The alternate layouts dont' actually change the position of the brenners, just the number of them. You can have 2, 4 or 8. Either way, the main part of the battle takes place on that beach.

Ok where do i start.... well since i am a Smn so i think BALLISTA SUCKS, *if u have played it u will know y i think this*.Yeah i found Brenner more fun than Ballista obviously but... what pissed me off is that the whole damn fight is on 1 of the 4 damn beaches (got kinda boring after a while) but they can easly fix that by moving the flammen-brenners, and i think every 1 will second me on that those damn postens really get anoying quick (postens=littles balls that every 1 has been talking about), yeah they r a problem 4 every 1 the tanks the DD's the mages but no SO much 4 any 1 with a pet Smn, Bst and.. well thats it nvm. yeah so over all i think that brenner is preaty fun, they just need 2 tweek a few things, *cough*like take some def off those postens*cough* then it will be more enjoyable! ^^

When it comes to flame running, I've discovered that rdm/nin rocks. Toss up a Bar-Blizzard with all of our fun little support spells, and laugh as you run away with your opponet's flame. Bind gets resisted (or if it dosent it wont last long) Blink usually gives you a nice head start on all the mages trying to cast your way. Ice Spikes are great for making the melees get paralized while they are chasing you, and it usually only takes one hit for it to regester. With a whm following you, there is a fat chance that anyone can take you down by the time you get to your own Brenner. (Heck if you want extra protection, equip an earth staff.)

But I find RDM to be much more endurable than pld, war, or even ninja in these cercumstances. And with all the tools at a rdms disposal they can play both offence and defence in this round about game.

Rangers though are far the best for taking out the orbs and the brenners from long distance though. Its easy to target a Zerg rush on the Brenner, but when a ranger is sniping from a distance, it takes an extra moment to target him.

i found out that popping one of those "imune to melee attacks" thingys you get from /quarry to be useful when you run for your life

Finally had an opportunity to play Brenner. I didn't like it all that much. It seems like it will be a lot more fun if more people were playing, but as it was, so few people were in the games I was in. But it really seemed to lack the..."urgency" of Ballista. And I really hate the official match schedule. The same level cap matches are so far apart, I can't really enjoy it regularly. Happily, the Ballista situation wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be so looks like I will still have fun with that. Nonetheless, if the official match times were closer together for Brenner, I would still play it regularly. So I guess, for now, Brenner=Ballista.
