The Doll Festival is coming to Vana'diel on February 28! What are the moogles scheming this time? Find out here!

The Doll Festival

Get ready once again for Vana'diel's Doll Festival!
The Doll Festival is a solemn Far Eastern celebration in which displays of dolls and sweets are used to congratulate young girls on their growth.
The festival is supposed to be for young girls only, but leave it to the moogles to find a loophole. During the last Doll Festival, the M.H.M.U. (Mog House Management Union) worked with Windurst's Rhinostery to develop a special variety of rice cake that turned anyone who ate one into a little girl!
The moogles' original plan was to help grown women recapture their childlike innocence and relive the old days for a short time. In reality, however, the moogles misunderstood the event and laid down some rather unusual rules for obtaining the cakes, transforming the solemn festival into a giant fiasco! The guards were quite upset with the entire ordeal...
That wasn't enough to get the moogles down, however. Now they are responding with firm resolve:
"We want to give rice cakes to the adventurers again, kupo! We learned a valuable lesson last time, so this time we'll make getting the cakes simpler. It'll be the most solemn, super festival you've ever seen!"
They even seem to have managed to persuade the guards to let them try again, with their rants of how the festival started out of a desire to do good...
It doesn't end there, though.
According to separate reports, the real story is quite different. It seems that the M.H.M.U. spotted a prime business opportunity with the last Doll Festival. The reports state that the moogles are planning to advertise their rice cakes by handing out small samples, and then make a fortune selling the rest by dubious means. This seems to imply that poor management of M.H.M.U. finances has led to desperate measures, but the actual facts are enveloped in mystery.
Will the moogles' plans live up to expectations, or are they preparing a recipe for disaster?
Be sure to join in the celebrations and find out!

Just tested a rumor I saw, and confirmed. The event rewards can be gain by the following way:

One attempt per day. The number of members in your party determines the number of cake awarded. Alliance will receive a max of 72 cakes per day. 18 Taru Rice cake, 18 Hume Cakes, 18 Mithra Cakes and 18 Elvaan Cakes. (no Galkan Cakes since there are no Galkan females) I managed to get 16 of each cake, due to 2 members in our full alliance outside the zone. >< The cakes stack at 12. The costume effect lasts until dropped or zoned. You can not use job abilities with the costume on, or log off with it on. You can use emotes with costumes on, but there are no animations for the costumes. There are no job restrictions on the event. Minimum job level is 1, and max is 75.

There has to be more than just handing out rice cakes in this event.

All the other events I have done in the past has left to reciving event items that can be worn.
Can' t find any other information part from this on someone.com

This repeatable event involves simply talking to a Moogle in one of the starting cities, as listed below. Be prepared to find lots of new people or drag your linkshell into this. You'll need an alliance of 10 (or more) people. Depending on your party combination, one of three things will happen when you talk to the Moogle once your alliance is ready.

You will receive rice cakes as rewards, depending on the configuration of your alliance. The perfect setup has 6 males and 4 females, with 1 female leader and 1 male leader: Empress, Emperor, 5 musicians and 3 ladies-in-waiting. It doesn't appear to matter how the women are divided up among the 2 parties. If you do not have a perfect party, the cakes you get will be based on the races of the female members in your party. Note also that you must keep ALL 10 members throughout the dialogue, or the Moogle will scold you: "Kupo? What happened to your ten-person party? You can't trick presents out of me, kupo!" You can repeat this quest once every game day, as soon as it turns 0:00. Each rice cake lasts approximately 5 minutes, and will turn you into a little girl of that race. This event is scheduled to last 2 weeks

Moogles:
Bastok Markets* (G-8)
Bastok Mines (I-9)
South San d'Oria* (K-9)
North San d'Oria (D-8)
Windurst Woods* (K-10)
Windurst Port (F-5)
*Because you need so many people, I recommend going to these zones first to find other people for the alliance.

Starting Dialogue
Moogle: Have you seen the decorations?
The Doll Festival has started, kupo!
Moogle: I heard from my moogle sources that this is a celebration for the health and happiness of girls, kupo.
Moogle: Apparently, the young lady and her beau would play empress and emperor, and would be joined by eight of their friends for the festivities, kupo.
Moogle: Why don't you try making a ten-person party as well?
We can all have fun celebrating the Doll Festival, kupo!

Perfect Party Dialogue
Moogle: It looks like you have all the members you need, kupo!
Moogle: In fact, the moogle grapevine tells me that this is the perfect Doll Festival combination, kupo!
Moogle: As a reward for your blind luc--I mean, "resourcefullness," I'm going to give you lots of these treats, kupo!
You obtain 3 Hume rice cakes, 3 Elvaan rice cakes, 3 Tarutaru rice cakes and 3 Mithran rice cakes!

Party #1/Ladies in Waiting
Moogle: It looks like you have all the members you need.
Time for the festival to begin, kupo!
Moogle: After squeezing my moogle sources more, they told me that people used to eat these during the festival.
Here, you take one as well, kupo!
Moogle: Just in case you didn't know, the three girls in your party represent ladies of the court who wait on the empress.
Moogle: Moogles know everything about festivals, kupo!
You obtain a Hume rice cake and a Mithran rice cake!

Party #2/Musicians
Moogle: It looks like you have all the members you need.
Time for the festival to begin, kupo!
Moogle: After squeezing my moogle sources more, they told me that people used to eat these during the festival.
Here, you take one as well, kupo!
Moogle: And by the way, the 5 in your group represent musicians who entertain the empress and emperor, kupo!
Moogle: I wish I could play an instrument kupo!
You obtain a Hume rice cake and a Mithran rice cake!

Nah, it doesn't have to be more. From what I remember of last year's doll festival, it doesn't give something to wear, just gave the rice cakes. Not all events give event equipment.

There were no new holiday items added in the last patch, so I assume that Doll Festival will be the same as it was last year. Dull as it is, it's still one of my favorites because I love all the sakura that appear in the towns. So pretty! ^^
