Since the version update which they weakened multi-hit WS in ballista there has been a HUGE decrease in people showing up to ballista on Siren. many more matches are being cancled, including 60caps, Jugner match was just canced with a whopping 3 people showing up. This update really killed are ballista community i think. The actual impact on
damage may have not be that great, but it seems to me that atleast on my server ballista kinda died. Has any other servers experienced this?
Small update, big impact.

It could be that more people who used to Ballista have started trying to play Brenner all out and ignore Ballista for now. But then again thats just a thought.

Could be Brenner has been drawing 20-30 people no matter what cap it is for the official matches. I haven't done uncapped obviously but the last 60 cap I went to for Brenner had over 40 people at one point. This still doesn't explain why the Ballista matches during non Brenner official times are empty though. I've gone to quite a few lately to have them canceled orhaving to beg 2 or3 LS members to come quick so its not cancelled.
Its been a week since I've done Brenner personally so I guess brenner may be dead too as Alyth said.

The amount of people that attend Ballista or Brenner varies on the time of the day. Late night Ballistas are usually decent sized. However, Ballistas that range from the morning to the late afternoon seem to get cancelled constantly on my server.

the ws nerf definetly hinderd ballista attendance....usually at night for 60 ..my server is filled with at least a 12vs12....lately....8v8.....and.......the jobs that attend.....i see major increase in war, rng and bst. less mnk and drks compare to before. tonight in a 8v8...there were 8wars....next match 6 rng and 4 bst.

So last night after my post i went to try out the Pashow match @ 10:30 PCT and there was a slight better show, it was 6v6. That still is nothing compared to this time a month or two ago, i remember lagging like crazy at 25v25 matches every night in 60cap.
When Brenner started up until about a week or two ago there was an OK show, not great but ok. Since then i havent seen one official match not be cancled. Everyone lost interest.
Ballista is the only thing really i enjoy in this game, i level all my jobs for it, so this kinda sucks.

The multi-hit ws nerf killed me inside. Fuck you mages for bitching that you get one-shotted, just don't go or level a fucking melee job!

I thought that was the point of being a mage anyway. Physically weak but magically strong, so being one shotted by melee would be normal... Obviously not in FFXI though. :/

Well if you're good, the nerf isn't like, atronomically bad. You can still have the possibility to one shot. Granted, it isn't guranteed now. >_>
I think the problem is people would get TP, find a mage, then simply /sprint into enemy lines, skeet skeet skeet, then run back with free GB while the enemy is still trying to debuff you.

I believe they just wanted to rebalance things a little.. now you can use subs other than ninja and not fear asuran fists, guilliotine, blah blah as much as you used to. Monks are still tankish, mages are still frail.. you just need a little more than one ws to take 'em down (usually.) Some jobs recieved a pretty big boost (rdm and pld come to mind) in their survivability since they didn't rely on shadows in the first place for the most part. I like the change.. now race/job matters a little less and it's more about trying to work someone over as a team instead of an ego-driven weaponskill fest.
You can now actually *gasps* skillchain people without them dying after the initial or secondary ws, lol. I like that a lot. Killing someone with darkness is way more cool points than killing them with asuran fists alone.

Hm first week after it I noticed a lot less WAR and MNK coming as those jobs. But really it's back to normal now. I can only speak for 75 caps but been hearing about large attendance for 60 as well still.

I stopped playing FFXI, going to return when expansion comes out and see if it can interest me to stay, untill the CoV it is.
