It

used to be a mine for Bastok. Then one day when the kids went to visit their fathers at the mine(don't know why

exactly), Juggler Hecatomb caused a cave in and tore shit up. Everyone died. Or a majority atleast. I guess Bastok

abandonned it after that.

You should read the tribune. I reveals alot of stuff about the game. Like who the

Doomed Pilgrims are in ZM5.

I did read alot of Tribune, but

I don't recall any news about Gusgen's Mines, I guess I overlooked at that.

I think SE kinda messed up

with storyplots in Tribune.

If Juggler Hecatomb tored down the Mines, then why mines is still stand and all

of old buildings (aka storeage, watcher tower, etc) still stand.

Also what bothers me so much. If Mines

tore down then why I saw few people hanged up by ceiling.

Do Eco-Warrior in

Bastok explain about it?

It's impossible. What really is a nerd

anyways. It's just something people use to classify us into social groups.

I

thought it was because the Moblins invaded when they broke through a wall they were mining in Movolpolis, and

killed everyone there to take it over.

(LSFawkes @ Alla's discussion about this)
OK, I think some people here may be confused about which mine are

you about.

First of all, Gusgen's mines was originally a sacred ground or a cementery in Elvaan tradition

during the time that the elvaans dominated Vana'diel (this is explained in Teleport-holla quest). Later, the hume

found out about this mine and started to dig it since it had new materials that were needed to build the new guns

and weapons that help them defeat the tarus and the elvaans. Now two problems presented themselves in that mining

colony: First that it was cursed and second, the moblins.

The ghost started to bring people to their side

from their point of view, and started to cause "accidents" and stuffs. Then the moblins weren't that happy that

the humes and their galka slaves appeared near their hometown, so they also made attacks to the place. If you are

asking why didn't people just left the mine, well the ingame answer (and which is quite common too) is that the

humes love to think with their greed and not without the idea of cost of lives. They kept the mine open until it

was abandoned when the mortality rate was higher than the net income.

About the other mine being

discussed, I will suppose it is Korrolaka Tunnel.

Before the shadow lord war, the Korrolaka Tunnel

connected Altepa with Bastok/Mindartia. But during the war, the anticas and the Shadow Lord made a move that could

have changed the war. The Anticans attacked the tunnels with all their stregth, so they could attack Bastok from

behind while the Quadavs attacked from the front.

To prevent Bastok's fall, the Mythril Musketers agreed

that the tunnel must be blow up. So they send a galka only squad to stop the anticans without informing them about

the plan. The plan was a success, and the anticans were never able to get into mindartia and help the Shadow Lord,

yet this costed the life of half the galka population and also increased the hate of the galka against the

humes.

I think thats the accurate version?
