I
wanted to be a whm so I could leech in nin pts ( ._.)
Oh, and like, um, for your job, um... go like, war or
something. iono. Just use /random or a coin or something to like, determine your job or something if you are
having that much trouble. Or something.

Most people don't have one job, that's the beauty of the game, you can level them all. Sure people have a
"Main" that's their favorite/first but most people level mutliple jobs throughout their time in the game. It's
best not to think too much about it, find a job that's fun for you and level it, if you decide that it's your
"Main" keep with it. Later on down the line try something else. That's it really.

What i
would reccomend is for you to first lvl WAR to 30.
This will give you a general feeling for how melee and
tanks work (and chances are you will be doing both at least a few times during your lvling experience). If you
enjoyed the tanking experience, you might want to look at the tanking jobs, if you perfered the DDing you can look
at other DD (or just stick with war). You'll be at 30 so you can unlock all the advanced jobs and play around. If
you take another melee or tank higher you'll already have thier primary subjob lvled up a bit.
If you
dispised your WAR experience, i'd reccomend lvling a mage. Some people just dont like being up at the front
lines.
So yea, try stuff until you find a job you enjoy. Just keep in mind though that a lot of the melee
are going to feel the same until 30, some until higher.

Well,
Melee are mad expensive, and in Diablo2 and every other RPG i played I usaully become a mage because it's
"cooler". I chose Summoner because I enjoy being lazy and having others do my bidding. I get to enjoy Flood/Water4
farming while I LFG.

Most jobs are mad expensive. I'd say the only
job that could be considered cheap is maybe PLD and BRD.

Part of why I chose RDM to start was because I figured if I could
cast cures, I wouldn't have to buy/carry as many potions...
Yeah, I knew a lot about the game when I
started >_>
For the OP...find what you like to do in-game and pick the job that does that. Whatever you go
for, you will be bored of XPing at some point though.

Ain't much one can tell ya about what job to go with. It just matters on what you like. Do you want to take,
deal, or heal damage or do you want to be supportive? Try all the jobs if you still dunno. Like someone said,
start with war. Its like a universal job that the skills you learn from it goes over to other jobs (some more
than others). With it you'll have the sub most DD jobs use and have some additional defensive skills built up
for mages (evasion, parry, shield, etc).

I just
tried to read up on the specific jobs and I really was interested in what the BRD job does as I was reading that
they are a very good enhancing your other party members or so what. Not to mention the fact of being a midget
minstrel as pretty amusing at the time
. In all honesty just try out the various jobs and see what you like and
don't like. Just because I like BRD doesn't mean you'll like it either. Leveling the basic jobs I.E. WAR or
WHM/BLM should give you a general idea on what kind of character you want to mold.

Well, I
chose my first job based on a static party that some RL friends and I wanted to do... Two of the members were
longtime players and guided the rest of us to make a party set up. We knew we needed a healer, and tank, and some
DD at the very least. One of the longtime players really wanted to be BRD, and right off the bat one of the new
players decided he wanted to be WHM. I considered choosing a mage class (that would have been out of character
for me), but in the end, but the others seemed pretty set on DD (Black mage, Thief, and Ranger), so I decided I'd
be willing to tank.
So I could choose between Warrior, Paladin, and Ninja... and Paladin was just so
much more heroic and cool looking! Especially in their AF. I still tanked for our static with Warrior for the
first 30 levels so us newbs could open our advanced jobs. It was ok, but I was dreaming of Paladin the whole
time.
We then started over again 1-30 with our current setup as described above, and kept on going until
today (73)!
If you have any RL friends or LS members that are interested in staticking, it's a great way
to go about the level grind! No LFP waiting, and you actually get to play with people you like. You can pick
your job based on what is needed to help you narrow things down.

panupat :
you don't pick jobs.
the job picks you.
I completely agree. I started out this
game as WHM, and got it to 60. I leveled RDM with a static to help them catch up, and it got to the point where i
felt much more comfortable on rdm than i did on whm. Years and 3 jobs later, i still feel most comfortable playing
on rdm.

Thanks
for all the tips. I actually have thf to 35, and every job is unlocked, but only to 10+, but i've still gotten a
little feel for every job. I want to be able to do dmg, but i like it to be beneficial to the party, but its a lot
of fun seing those huge numbers fly. I guess thats what's most fun to me .If that helps any... Thank you!

I
played every job a little and looked into them to see how they are and can be played.(the job forums and other
sites) I make sure the job wears equip I like, and can do WS's or casts spells that I like. How fast do they
get invites, how fast do I want to hit 75?
Also very important to me that my characer is flexible, I'd
hate to be say 75mnk 37war 37nin 37thf 37whm and stuck doing nothing unless I'm in a full party.
My plan
at the moment is to have jobs that can support, tank, do DoT, and do spike damage.(DoT = Damage over Time,
spike = jobs with huge weaponskill damage, but usually lower DoT)
I fell in and out of my jobs, but
the reasons for leveling them were usually consistant when I did.
First job to 75 - RDM.
It took more attention than others, got insanely fast invites, wasn't too expensive, and solo/duo/trio's
very well. AF looked nice on mithra, and it could use fun equip toys like joyeuse and crimson cuisses. Still
took me forever to finish it to 75, but when I did I started making decent money. Almost always lots of <3 end
game for RDM too, so sky/dynamis/hnm shells aren't as hard to come by.
Just an all around good job to have
for most things, so my first.
Second to 75 - NIN
RDM got boring in sky and didn't have much
equip needed. Very nice though, the equip is just hot, katana DoT and Blade: Jin make it a top DD, Blade: Ku
screams sexy, and it can tank! Can't do much better than great looks and great flexibility right!? I have it at
73 now ~.^ 75 this week.
Third to 75 - SAM
I have great solo ability, and I'm flexible
enough to do everything but big numbers on gods/hnm. That's one thing samurai focuses on, and completely
dominates over other jobs end game! Tachi: Gekko and Tachi: Kasha along with being two of the best ws in game
also look very nice with mithra. Shares gear with my ninja, and I can merit it's weapon before 75 so...this was
just a must have choice after a little though. I only have it at 39 now, but once I finish setting ninja into end
game should be no problem burning through levels to 75.
````
Of course with the expansion coming out
with three new jobs, there's a chance my third candidate will change, who doesn't want to be a pirate
(Corsaire as fourth maybe?)
Anyways, those are my thoughts for picking my jobs and hopefully soon to be
job/s.(as best as I can remember) I love to be versatile and I love looking good, so I try to pick my jobs
accordingly.
Edit:
Anyways..
If I were you I would take thief and
warrior to 37, then go samurai. It does very big numbers in the 60's and 70's, but because they can gain TP so
fast some people would consider them a support job.
Ya ya SAM's probably think of that as degrading <.<;
but by being able to do so many renkeis so often, BLM's are allowed to just dominate mobs with extra magic burst
damage from it. Two SAM two BLM can kill a mob in maybe 10-20 seconds if meditate and sneak attack are up.
Also very nice hate controll starting at 60 when SAM/THF get trick attack and the first of their three
heavy ws's, Tachi: Yukikaze.
I wanted
to be nin first but at the time couldnt support it or do it how i wanted, so i took RDM to 75 just due to the
quick invites and relatively cheaper equips at the time. once you have 1 job at 75 things are easier, but I dont
know some people only take 1 job to 75 so whatever is best for you
