OK, I read the first page of this forum and was sickened to my stomach, I come to the 3rd page and it doesnt look any better. So i guess I will be one of the few people in this forum to defend our hispanic (wich I am, Puerto Rican, think J.Lo, Ricky Martin) and human rights.

First off the idiot who said, "well These laws dont just pop out of no where" actually most of the laws in this country are decided by people who dont have any relation or care about the hispanic or immigrant culture because they cant relate. Second yes there are laws to "prevent" or torture immigrants trough a legalization process, wich is mostly bullshit and money, and yes they are laws...Remember the segregation law? Remember the slavery? remember when this country belonged to the natives? what happened to them? Remember when it was law to lynch people? All these where laws or "ok" right? Its really sad to know that in the year 2006 we still have people who dicriminate against other people because they are not "legal" these people are human beings They have families, dreams, FF accounts, and (for those of us who bilieve) souls and blood. These people sufffer every day without the help of our government who rejects them. Try to put yourself in these peoples shoes. Tell me how many mexican do you see on the street begging? Yea, I can say not many begg because they have pride. How many "americans" do you see begging? wasting space and air and a use of a SS card. Alot. How many people you know chose not to work and leech from the government?

Heres another point for you morons who say "Oh they dont pay any taxes, why should they get anything!!?" Hmm they cant pay any taxes because they cant! If the governmet let them work like anyone else then they would be able to pay taxes. Then they could pay their bills, then they could vote, then we wouldnt have so many asshole racist bastards in our congress. Its really easy to talk shit about people you cant relate to, guess what if you look far back enough, we are all in this fucked up world together, and theres only a couple ways to pass the time before we die, killing each other, discriminating? I would prefer a world where we all get along and no war. But hey America wants to pick fights with people who may one day may not chose to help us because we mistreated them. But knowing alot of my hispanic people we might stil help because we still hold something important in our culture, Pride, respect, honor.

Okay, I broke my lurking status to point out that Amasai is a complete and total fucking moron. Mexican Immigrants don't pay taxes because they can't? No. They don't pay taxes because they're hired illegally by their employers (who are at fault too) and work under the minimum wage. When you get a job, you're put on a payroll, and you work for minimum wage or higher. The government deducts a % from this wage for Social Security/Taxes/Etc. Many Mexican Immigrants do "under the table" work and labor. This benefits employers, because they can pay them less, and if the Immigrant can't attempt to speak up, because he's here illegally. However, this also benefits the immigrant, because they're not contributing money toward Social Security, and you can bet your ass they're gonna use their invalid Social Security I.D. to collect some down the road. Thus, they're royally screwing any Americans/Immigrants who ARE working above minimum wage and paying Social Security/Taxes from a weekly paycheck.

Sadly, there are many Americans who do this, too. It's also the reason why Social Security is such a failure right now, and by the time people born in the 1970's and 1980's are preparing to recieve Social Security, the funds will be completely diminished.

I also agree with those who mentioned that America is not a dumping ground to repare foreign problems. "My home country doesn't pay me enough, so I'm going to go to another country where I won't get paid enough either." That's what Illegal Immigrants are doing. Doesn't really sound like a solution to the problem to me. And please note that this DOES NOT APPLY to those Immigrants who enter our country legally and contribute to our economy. No one ever said they're the problem.

That is only one side of the economic story.

These illegal aliens also purchase goods and services from the same places you do. They buy gas, groceries, food, pay rent, etc....

Its not like they are sending 100% of there wages back to Mexico.

/sarcasm on

I still think it would be better if we sent all the illegal immigrants back to whatever country, lock up the borders, then watch all of our jobs get outsourced to the other countries. Then we will have an awesome unemployment rate.

Then more people will be on welfare. Or we could all get jobs mowing lawns, painting houses, or digging ditches.

Sounds fun!

/sarcasm off

Because we all know that our gas will be pumped from India. And hey when we want our paint jobs done. We can pay plane tickets for the Indian's to come over. Also, I hear India is wonderful for housing.

It is also well known they have cars as well.

But no, it isn't going to the same place you fucking Moron. Their point is to make money, so they go to places where food as cheap, as where somone recieving normal wages from the same job will be buying from Albertson's, Safeway, whatever is the big grocery in your area. Then that money goes to the company, and then to the legal citizen's working the jobs at the store.

Also: Why is it America's job to provide aid to illegal Immigrants?

I stepped out my shell in real life, and I asked somone in support of the immigrants, after she went on how the mexican's are so poor.

What response did I get? An ignortant "I don't give a s--t"

I made a generalization that most of these protesters, were ignorant. I was considering that view thinking I might be wrong, and they are starting to prove me right.

Wrong? Tell me Dimmauk, why is these Illegal Immigrants should be allowed to stay! Why the hell should they get jobs over legal Americans. It's our country. We have the right to tell them to get out when they don't belong here. Most of all Dimmauk, just because Mexico is poor, why is it AMERICAS job to aid them?!

My roots, are immigrants. I know that, and guess what, my families came here legally. And I know they came from poor countries, like Ireland for example. Why can't these people come here legally? If you want a goal, you work hard for it.

Rimesume :
When immigration comes up I always hear the same sets of arguments.

"Why do we allow Canadians to come across the border freely?"
"Why is Canada immigration a non-issue when Mexico and Cuba are?"
"Shouldn't immigration be standardized regardless of original nationality?"

Why Canada is not part of the immigration issue. Contrary to what most want to believe it has nothing to do with the fact that most Canadians are white. It does have a lot more to do with the fact that Canada isn't dirt poor. Canada has many of the same imports/exports as the United States. Which only makes sense that the US and Canada compliment each other. It doesn't just stop at economics. Canada and the US compliment each other on many different mediums as well.
With that successful government that Canada has, comes many other factors, the most obvious, Canadians don't want to leave Canada. Much like Americans don't want to leave America. Naturally I am speaking in a very general way. If this were not fact, then you would see reports of a Canadian-American/American-Canadian immigration problems.

With Mexico, the government is unsuccessful, economy is poor, health care is poor, education is poor, only a small few get to enjoy the things the average Joe in the US or Canada take advantage of on a day to day basis. Herein lies the difference, Mexicans want to leave Mexico. There is a problem though. There is no money in allowing Mexicans to come into the US. The poor conditions of border towns in the US are a testament to this.

America never was, and was never intended to be the worlds economic hospital. It is not a dumping ground for other countries to fix their economic problem. It is not about race, it's about money. Simply put, Mexico doesn't bring anything to the table, and America is supposed to just feed them? In the end tax payers are the ones who cover the bill while our own education system is dwindling, among other things.

While this immigration goes near unchecked, as the current action against illegal immigration is no where near where it should be, we provide welfare at the same time. So then it goes from poor, uneducated or sub-par educated, non-English speaking immigrants not wanting to work as old' Uncle Sam is willing to pay out welfare. For as much as I love my job, I would still rather sit at home and enjoy my family. Who wouldn't? I completely sympathize. Personally I believe welfare should be liquidated and rebuilt to aid only the disabled, full time students, and the elderly. Everyone else, get off your ass and make a buck.

Unless, the illegal immigration system changes dramatically, or other government programs change it will only get worse. Yes it should be hard to become a citizen of the United States. There is talk of a federal law being proposed that would change the crime of hiring an illegal immigrant from a misdemeanor to a felony, which would definitely discourage most people not to employ them. Another inherent problem is that if you give birth to a child in the US you automatically have a nice anchor to stay in the US. This has to change.

I thought I would add onto this, in a way.

Immigrants, especially hispanics are leeching from us, and our taxes. Personally, I am still young, and I am a cashier at a supermarket. I see a huge amount of WIC checks. If you dont know what WIC is, it is a program to help mothers and children that cannot afford food, formula, ect.

Now, like I said, I see many things. About 98%(not even exaggerating) of people with WIC checking are hispanics, that I see personally. So I did some research.

In 2002 alone, the total amount of hispanics using this program was 3,051,969, which accounts for about half of the users. Doesnt that seem odd?

Congress appropriated $4.387 billion for WIC for fiscal year 2002-cbbp.org
Isnt that our tax money?

Obviously, I did say hispanics account for about half of the users for WIC these days since their population has obviously multiplied. So, that means they leeched $2.2 billion just through this program.

This doesnt include all the money we pay for them to come to our schools.. which leads me to another topic.

In my high school there are 3,000+ kids. Over the course of my high school life (the past 3 years), there has been an obvious increase in hispanics. They practically have their own wing now in my school. Everytime I pass by oner of their classrooms, I NEVER, EVER see them learning anything. Im not saying one incident, or a few, i'm talking literally every single time. Now, that kind of makes me mad.. since I actually have to work in school, and get my diploma.

Whatever, this is just my 2 gil.

I do believe that they should be deported. Judicially speaking, they did something illegal, but if I steal something I get the cops on me... yet 11 million of them can corrupt America. So shouldnt they pay the price, and wait in line?

Maybe a better way of this is to deport them, but somehow aid Mexico in starting an economically successful, democratic government. Then again, we're not supposed to be the worlds aid, but it seems more fair to registered citizens.

If immigrants get legalized, and come in even higher numbers... in the future dont you think they will run for government positions, and put programs in favor of immigration?

Peace out.

That's because many hispanic men are to macho and say they don't need protection. I know this cause I am hispanic, Puertorican to be exact. And they are not legal they should not get any benefit programs from the US gov't.

With that logic we should GTFO of Africa, Iraq, and every other 3rd world country that is struggling.

Also, Illegal Immigrants not only come from Mexico.

"SEATTLE -- Twenty one suspected illegal immigrants are now in federal custody after arriving in Seattle on a container ship.

The stowaways from China were found at Terminal 18 on Harbor Island early Wednesday morning. Authorities said they appeared to be in good shape after seven to 10 very uncomfortable days at sea.

Customs officials said they arrived Tuesday morning on a ship called the "Rotterdam."

"It's one 40-foot container that has on initial appearance had enough stuff to survive. It's got water bottles for hydration and facilities for bathroom needs and those kind of things," said Mike Milne with US Customs.

A security worker at Gate 4 saw the group trying to exit the terminal and stopped them. Customs officials have detained four women and 17 men.

The stowaways will be interviewed by federal officials who will decide if they will stay or be sent back."

This is one Container out of Millions that arrive everyday. Imagine how many get by? Or how many people get paid to look the other way while these containers come in? Imagine if the container was filled with Terrorist!? GASP!

The 11 million immigrants are not just Mexican, they are from other countries too.

This country was built by Immigrants, whether they were Legal or Illegal. Historically, the contributions of the Irish, Germans, Italians, Mexicans and other groups to the American edifice are essential elements of the national belief system. Immigrants labored, often under harsh conditions, in New England paper mills, Midwestern steel plants and along the transcontinental railroads.

Yet, for every person inspired by the Statue of Liberty's welcome for "the huddled masses yearning to breathe free," there were those who saw the newcomers as alien and even threatening. From the nativist Know-Nothing Party of the 1850s to the "No-Irish-Need-Apply" advertisements of the late 19th century, xenophobia marched hand-in-hand with dependence upon the foreign-born.

The jobs these "Illegals" take, are the jobs that would go to un-skilled Native born Americans. Why are they un-skilled? Who is to blame for Native-born Americans having the same skill-sets as an Illegal Immigrant?

Wednesday, President Bush urged the Senate to endorse his guest worker proposal, saying: "There are people here working hard for jobs Americans won't do."

Whether or not the country was built by immigrants or not is moot. There was no "country" here at the time. There were Native Americans that didn't have a government for what is now the U.S. We now have a government, so the illegal immigrants in this country aren't building anything besides a bigger debt. We know that the 11 million immigrants aren't all Mexican, it's been said many times. The reason Mexicans are brought up so much in this thread is:
1. They make up the majority of illegal immigrants.
2. A lot of KI posters that are hispanic obviously can't read and are defending illegal immigrants just because they share the same race. (Not talking about you Dimm)

Just like the guy who was trying to compare Ricky Martin and JLo to illegal immigrants simply because they're all hispanic. Just like the hispanic guy that came here legally saying he regrets serving in the military (I think it was) because of how "his people" are being treated (nevermind the fact "his people" are committing crimes).

Saying that they should stay because they take jobs nobody else wants is an empty argument. Just like Sirstyles said, there will always be someone looking for some job. You can't tell me that out of every LEGAL U.S. citizen, that nobody will do these manual labor jobs.

I wasnt just talking about the "first" Immigrants building this country. Its something that started with the birth of America, and still continues today.

Yes, but the main thing people are forgetting is that people who built the country from nothing weren't illegal aliens to the U.S. You know, since there wasn't any country here to be illegal aliens in. I have no problem with legal immigrants coming here and continuing to build the country, but that excuse that so many people use cannot even compare.

Wow. 12 pages of stupid.

Although we do need to be stricter about who gets in and all that, Texas would be screwed without immigrant labor. Period. Prices would go up, businesses would shut down, more companies would outsource... And the government doesn't like to mention it. You'd have to fix a LOT of other things wrong with Texas before we'd get back on our feet again. But if you do live in Texas, go out for a day and just look at all the illegal labor you go through every day.

I don't mind being able to get my oil changed, car washed, interior vacuumed, wiped down, and tires cleaned for $14 on immgrant labor. Or get our entire house cleaned and dinner cooked by someone who will work for a 12 pack of beer. Mexicans fucking rule.

People seemed to have skipped Casteel's comment which I find most pertinent under the circumstances. "If you want to be a productive member of our society . . . Why would you not be willing to do so legally?" That, my friends, is this issue in one sentence. Cognizant thought. It works, I swear....

Carlos Mencia said a joke the other day that holds much weight in this discussion. "Have you been to Mexico lately? There's hardly any Mexicans left!!!" Though funny at the time, true it unfortunately is. From what I understand, Mexico is having its own border problems from the south with Costa Ricans and Guatemalans illegally crossing their borders. However, they are not dealing with them as kindly as we are dealing with the Mexicans. "Nice" you say? Yes. Nice. We havent kicked anyone out yet. However, upon discovery, illegal aliens in mexico are immediately deported.

I recently had a family member involved with an illegal allien. Once they discovered that he was in fact an illegal alien, they did nothing. Absolutely nothing. Becuase the individual was an illegal alien, statutory rape did not apply. You can imagine how disgusted I am. And yet, I still feel compassion for the illegal aliens. However, my patience is wearing thin. Either become citizens and be subject to our laws and system, or leave. Its that simple. As a requirement of immigration from any other country, you must be able to pass a high school level english exam and they must have a sponsor currently IN the US that can support them for a time(which few if any of the illegal aliens have). Yet many of these illegal immigrants refuse to speak english in an english speaking country. That does not sound like someone who wishes to be a productive member of society. The double-standard needs to end now.

I realize this is only one of the problems in this matter, but it is a good place to start. Either take the immigration test and see where you get, or dont take it at all and leave.

In order for ANYONE to become a citizen, they should have to pass a High School English Exam.
