Thought I

would reply here to confirm what everyone is saying, my main character is NOT on the list. I spent a long time

talking to support about it and the response was "if the character is not listed, you cannot restore it". I see

some mules, woohoo........

It's just the first day, I am sure (hoping........) a fix will come. Has anyone

successfully restored a character/content ID using "Plan B"?

Something interesting I saw on the Plan B site

(http://www.playonlin...pe_b/index.html):

- Applicants who have cancelled a

FINAL FANTASY XI Content ID, but are currently playing with a different Content ID are also eligible (to

reactivate the cancelled ID).

Now, this is odd, because I never saw ANYTHING about reactivating an

old ID, only the character restoration page (the TSR seemed to think I should have found a page in Plan B where I

can request a reactivation for an old and cancelled content ID).

Does it

matter if I deleted the character or not? Using Plan B I just have a munch of mules and low level characters that

I already deleted, but not my lvl 70 SMN that I deleted last year - - Can someone please help me out with this? Do

I need to call in and ask them to restore my deleted SMN that way? oorrrr can I actually use Plan b?

Supposedly,

according to what I've been told from a customer service rep and what is on the POL website, if your character

has been deleted longer than 3 months, then they can't restore it. On the other hand, this campaign makes it

sound like they can restore characters that exceed that time, and only characters that exceed that time. So I'm

guessing they actually back up these characters somewhere, but its a pain for them to get to them unless they run

some kind of special promotion like this. And I have heard of people getting their characters recovered longer

than 3 months. They didn't even try it for me, so maybe I just got a bad customer service rep, although 3 months

is the official time. In other words, back before this campaign, I tried to restore my 67 BRD that was deleted

back in August. I had this character since launch. They told me they couldn't do it because its been longer

than three months. If you call them up, and get yours restored, then let me know. I really do wish you luck.

You'll have my envy, but I wish you luck. tongue.gif Anyway, from reading what they've said, you *should* be able to

get your character restored in this campaign. Key word is "should", because I tried to get mine restored using

Type B (which I met the qualifications for). After filling out the application, this is what I got on the

management page:

You did not use Final Fantasy XI services before canceling your PlayOnline account.

You are not eligible for this campaign.

This is news to me. So apparently...

A. Even

though I had a 67 BRD, I never used FFXI services. What?
B. I canceled my PlayOnline account? First of all, I

didn't even know you could do that. Second of all, well, I never did it. I deleted characters and cancelled

FFXI content IDs back in August. Thats it.

Now that above explanation sounds like a Type A excuse, because

its for people who cancelled their PlayOnline accounts. But I filled out an application for Type B. I even tried

Type A just to be sure, but it didn't work. I didn't expect it to. I did, however, expect Type B to work based

on what they said.

Since people are having trouble, I'm thinking (read: hoping) that this thing is busted

right now and they're gonna fix it. Congrats to those of you who have got main characters restored, though. For

those who haven't, myself included, I pray it works out.

I was so excited when I saw this announced

yesterday, but my balloon has been deflated. sad.gif

Applicants

will be ineligible for the campaign if any of the following apply:
- You like peanut butter on toast
- You

were born under Scorpio, Pisces, Capricorn, or Leo
- You breathe

Honestly this looks like a

weird PR campaign, not a true "We will help you get your character back" campaign. It was designed so virtually no

one will be eligable for character restoration, perhaps the intention is that once someone goes through the

process and fails to recover their character, that they will just make a new content ID and character out of

frustration.

Application Requirements ]
To apply for the campaign, you must be able to provide one of the two sets of

information listed below:
- Applicants who possess both their previous PlayOnline ID and registration code(s)

1. Enter your PlayOnline ID.
2. Enter one of your registration codes. *
3. Enter the name used on

the previous account.
4. Enter a current e-mail address where you can be contacted.

- Applicants

who possess either their previous PlayOnline ID or registration code(s)
1. Enter your PlayOnline ID or one

of your registration codes. *
2. Enter the name used on the previous account.
3. Enter all previously

registered personal information (e.g. date of birth, phone numbers, etc.).
4. Enter a current e-mail address

where you can be contacted.

Maybe I'm not understanding this correctly but the 2nd method under Method A

of restoration states that you can use either your registration codes or your playonline ID as long as you have

all the other information correct.

However I'm having some issues where I'm doing just that and it says

I need to enter my pol ID ><.

So yeah maybe I'm not understanding what they are saying or is the system

just being stupid?

Its not

you. I know I'm bitter, but this system seems very asenine (like Vorpal mentioned) and stupid. Even so, I still

meet their requirements. There's a similar problem with Type B too, wherein it asks you this:

Application Requirements ]
To apply for the campaign, you must be able to provide one of the two sets of

information listed below:
1. PlayOnline ID
2. PlayOnline Password
3. Enter one of your registration

codes.*
* For the registration code, please use one of the following previously registered codes:
-

PlayOnline
- FINAL FANTASY XI
- FINAL FANTASY XI: Rise of the Zilart
- FINAL FANTASY XI: Chains of

Promathia

First of all, my math admittedly is not good, but I kinda don't see how thats two sets

of information. Secondly, I had to provide all the information listed there before it would let me proceed, not

just "one set" of it (whatever that means). Thats not really a problem, since I still have all the information.

But the system does seem rather odd.

Out of foolish hope that they've fixed it, I just tried it again.

And I'm still having the same problem. sad.gif

I got

an error when i did it "You did not use FINAL FANTASY XI services before deleting your POL ACCOUNT" funny party is

I never deleted my POL account, and i played ffxi for 2 years so uh yeh i did use freakin ffxi services sad.gif( I

called POL support and the guy i spoke with told me that they were just trained on this last friday and that they

dont really know much about it because it only started just yesterday. But he says that ALOT of customers have had

this same problem and that the people who need to know about it, do know about it and they are trying to fix the

problem. told me to try again in a couple days and if it doesnt work to call them back.

edit: Oh! also they

said that they were told if you did delete your character that you could not get it recoved... which frankly does

not make much since to me. He said that the POL website says you can but he told me that his superviser looked him

in the face and said that you cant. Also i deleted my main character more than 3 months ago when i quit and the

guy told me this event should work for me.

Shield to answer your question, if those mules and low lvl

characters were made using the content ID that your lvl 70 smn was on then no you want be able to get that

character back. But if you have never used the character recovery system you might be able to get the character

back that way. But i dont know how long the characters information stays on the server.

Sive, i

had similar thoughts about having to submit only "1 of 2 sets of (said) information." I dont have my registration

codes easily accessable to me anymore since i am away at college and am unable to go to my parents house to look

for it. but still thats 2 or the 3 items they requested....

POL website :
The following

errors were found.
Please check your information and try again.
- Incorrect PlayOnline ID.
- Incorrect

PlayOnline Password
- Incorrect registration code

i have my pol id and password still etched

into my brain since they were mine for 2 years, but still i get this error. ive logged into pol since then to make

sure i had it correct and i did, im able to log-in to pol viewer, but the "return home to vanadiel" doesnt

recognize me as a member? i dont understand

why do they even bother with going through with this campaign

if they have to make people jump through hoops to even find out IF they can have something restored?

These

campaigns are so mis-leading...on first thought, the way they word the campaign makes it sound like they can

reactivate your character/s. Now, I had 1 mule and 1 main on my account when I left, I deleted neither of them.

I left them both at the same time, that's it. And then they list me only my mule? How does that work?.... Most

likely, they do the following.

Person applies to reactivate.
Puts in all his information etc..
S-E

receives the account information.
S-E chooses the character with highest total level and play time.
S-E

tosses it from the list of elligible characters that can be reactivated.
S-E sends the list, laughs and say

they can't do anything about it.

Right....you can reactivate all of someones mules but not their

main?....*cough*moneyhungrybastards*cough*

I've given

up, I just play a new character... SE hasnt fixed the campaign yet sad.gif(

Don't give

up yet. sad.gif I understand you wanting to play, but its better to wait a few days and get a character restored that

you spent months building, than to be impatient and have to start all over again, when a fix may be coming. I

know its a chance, but I think its worth taking. I too have thought about making a new character, but I'm just

gonna wait and see what happens. Obviously a lot of people are having problems with this, and they want our

business, so I'm willing to bet they are trying to fix it. For all the griping that people do about RMT, DRG,

alphabet soup, the price of tea and gil in China, etc, SE is pretty good about listening to its customers and

attempting to make changes. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this, for a while at least. Besides, the

business day hasn't even started yet for SE.

While I appreciate the fact that they are "offering" this, it

is also just an attempt to get customers back. So while its a nice service to customers (if it works right), its

also an attempt to make money. I can't really blame them for that, because they are a business. I just wish

they'd get their ducks in a row and that it would work right.

The thing is, I know they store these

characters somewhere, even past the "3 month limit". For one, I've heard of people getting their deleted

characters back longer than 3 months. This campaign makes it obvious that those deleted characters are stored

somewhere. And my old linkshell, which I was the shellholder of, still exists. If the character was truly gone,

that shell should've been broken.

So, since they still have these characters store somewhere, I think they

should just offer a fee-based service to have deleted characters restored past the 3 month limit. I know a lot of

people (myself included) would be willing to pay a fee to have their characters restored. SE would get their

money, and it would ensure more customers would be happy and come back. Now I know why they only offer the 3

month service. Aside from storage issues, they want people to keep playing and paying. The fee could be based on

the length of time that has passed since the deletion of the character. The longer the time that has passed, the

higher the fee (nothing ridiculous, of course). The 3 month thing would still be a free service (aside from

content ID costs, that is).

Anyways, that was kinda-off topic. I just tried it, and its still not working.

I'll be patient, and wait (two things I'm not good at). Last year, if you remember, they ran two seperate

campaigns. One in the spring, and one in the early summer. If this one doesn't work right, maybe they'll get

the kinks worked out on a second one. Hope is all I've got.

Ugh,

this kinda irks me. I deleted my char in early september last year because of college. Over winter break I was

playing again but when i tried to reactivate (70BST) they said I had just missed the 3 months mark.

Now

that I could recover that char I can't because I mad a new char on the same content ID because the customer

service guy led me to believe that there was (and would never be) a way to restore that character. ><

To Intense,

That message is an error on SE's part... They say alot of people have gotten that message and that the "people

that need to know about it, do know about it" (ass holes...) I talked to them the first night i tryed this

campaign. See the sad part is the representatives you talk to when you call dont really know how to answer your

questions because they were just trained 1 day, last friday, so they are in an awckward situation as well.

To Sive, Thanks for the incouragement but i already made a new character before my last post... But I have

2 other content id's not active, but even so they say if you deleted your character before canceling the id that

you cant get it back... even though the web site says you can. but like i said above the PoL Reps dont really know

much about the events so it might work its self out later.

To Someonher, That really sucks and really shows

how much they care about their customers... but i thought they changed it to 1 year from 3 months? Told me that

your character will stay on the server for 1 year.
