The

support people have really tried to help me as much as they can. Unfortunately, they say, the guys in the US do

not have any sort of access to the world servers. This means they can't search for my character individually and

restore it.

I have been trying every day in the foolish hope that suddenly my char would be available for

restoration. It never is sad.gif

At least they confirmed that they have been pretty much swamped with complaints

about this, and it has been passed along the Square-Enix chain of command.....

Intense :
Sive, i had similar thoughts about having to submit only "1 of 2 sets of (said) information."

I dont have my registration codes easily accessable to me anymore since i am away at college and am unable to go

to my parents house to look for it. but still thats 2 or the 3 items they requested....

POL

website :

The following errors were found.
Please check your information and try again.
- Incorrect

PlayOnline ID.
- Incorrect PlayOnline Password
- Incorrect registration code

i have my

pol id and password still etched into my brain since they were mine for 2 years, but still i get this error. ive

logged into pol since then to make sure i had it correct and i did, im able to log-in to pol viewer, but the

"return home to vanadiel" doesnt recognize me as a member? i dont understand

why do they even bother with

going through with this campaign if they have to make people jump through hoops to even find out IF they can have

something restored?

I actually had some problems logging onto the POL Viewer using my old ID/PW

as well. I went to POL's web support chat ( https://secure.playonline.com/supportus/index.html ) and spoke with

an agent to make sure that I was using the right ID/PW. Turns out that I wasn't ( bloops ) so I had them reset

my PW for me. Also, throughout this entire process I was asked for my FFXI Registration Code about 3-4 times, so

really you should make sure to have this handy before you begin.

Other than that, this program has worked

pretty well for me. Had a 70RDM and a crafting mule on Odin that I hadn't touched since Oct '04, and I was able

to restore both of them without much of a hassle ( apparently after my chars had faded away someone else

registered the name Natalie, so I was forced to change my old chars name before I could log on.. not that big a

deal ).

I logged onto POL using my old ID, bought 2 new content ID's, used the TypeB method of character

restoration, and a few minutes later both of my old chars were good to go. smile.gif

Ok,

New to the board, but I have been trying to come back to the game also. I was having the same error

message as others:

You did not use FINAL FANTASY XI services before canceling your PlayOnline

account.
You are not eligible for this campaign.

I spoke to Support earlier today, which

didn't help at all. I just got off the phone with support just now. Backstory: When I left the game in August

'05 I deleted me characters, and simply canceled my content ID's. Same as others posted above.

My last

call with Support confused me quite a bit. He told me I wasn't eligible because my Content ID's weren't

deleted. I asked him how I was suppose to cancel my ID's, to which he replied that ID's are 'deleted'

anywhere from 3 months to a year after being canceled, and they are 'deleted' by the system itself. So since my

Playonline account is still attached to those IDs, I don't qualify for the reactivation program. And since it

has been over 3 months since I canceled my ID's, I can't use the typical reactivation method to bring my

character back.

If that doesn't make sense to you, you aren't the only one. I don't understand why

they have a system in place to prohibit people from reactivating based on thier systems random decision of when to

'delete' an ID. So no matter what I did, I had no control to how the system would deal with my IDs. He told me

that the Content IDs are purged from the system when the account has been inactive. I haven't touched my

Playonline account since August last year, yet the content IDs are still attached. And so since I have logged

back into PLayonline to try to get things going, my account is no longer active, which means my content IDs won't

be purged.

This is completely foolish IMO, and very frustrating. He did give me an address to which I can

write to. I asked him if it would be of any use to write, and he told me that there are plenty of people that

aren't happy with the situation, and that hopefully a change may occur. Here is the

Address:

When I first started playing I played on Asura and had a Lv50 Elvaan DRK. For various reasons I deleted the

character, canceled the ID, and started fresh on Midgardsormr. I tried to restore my character on asura and got

the message...

"You did not use FINAL FANTASY XI services before canceling your PlayOnline account. You are

not eligible for this campaign."

This was kinda funny considering I've been playing FFXI with the same

account for over a year and it was never canceled...

Now I usually don't complain about SE for

maintenaces, gil sellers, econemy problems, and other such issues, but this is just crap.

For anyone

who was worried that creating a new char under the same name has ruined your chances:

(allakhazam

forums)
The new return to Vanadiel program has been a great success for me. After more than a year of absence, my

character was able to come back. I had created a new character with the same name as the old one, But it didn't

seem to matter, It was able to be reactivated.
So in case some of you who made the same character with the same

name like me and were afraid that it would be overwritten, no worries. The only difference was that when I went

to pick the character for the first time, my old character's name (there were two characters on the screen at

this point with the same name) was bolded in yellow, in contrast to the others. Picking him, prompted somethig

that said that I had to change his name because there was already another character with that name(my new

charater). I chose to do that instead of deleting the new character, and the old character appeared exactly where

i left him, even in the same place i last logged and everything, and with the same level, equipment, the works,

only with the new name I had given him being the difference.

If you can't see your character, it

probably isn't your fault for remaking...

I haven't touched my

characters since '04 either and it only lists my mules :con . Maybe I'll do the livechat support, I shot them

an email about it but they haven't responded yet sad.gif

Hello

guys, i'm new to Killing Ifrit, been on Alakhz. for awhile. here is my exact quote from there, same

topic

"I'll write the letter, and complain some more, it doesn't make sense i have everything except my

character... friend list, gill on mules, items on mules, same handle, but not my lvl 74 character. the more i

think about it I feel like SE is scamming me, how the hell can everything else be there but not my highest

character ???
"

Basically I lost old book with IDs and Password, so

SE guy says np give, me your info, ie.. name, DOB, address, then he released ID and password, and says use type B,

but it didn't work, so i call back and he says i need Reg. Code which is gone, but if i get a new copy I can use

that reg. code and it should work... long story short, new code works but all I see is my mules, one of which was

started no less than 1 hr after my lvl 74 rng was, when I call SE back, the rep says your original character was

too old and could not be recovered, " total bullshit I think" Oh I stopped playing back in Nov. 2004.

Sorry for the long story i just need to vent.

"The Return Home to Vana'diel Campaign Maintenace that was
scheduled to be held on Apr. 17 1:00 to 2:00 (PDT)

has been
cancelled. A new time for the maintenace will be posted
when more information is

avaliable.

We apologize for the inconvenience."

Is it just me, or does it seem like SE doesn't

actually want anybody to get their old characters back...

At least they said there

will be maintenance for it... there is hope yet!

The campaign runs until the end of May, so there is plenty

of time.
