THe world as we knew it seemed big on our regional map. But on this larger map its upside down for some
reason, and about 1/20th the size we though.

wow
o.o
I never thought of flipping that continent >.>
The continent in question says Arabago or Arapago..
the mark on the ha is hard to make out >.>
If that was the case, then the Empire would be on the other side
of the world, closer to the west, and each area would be ginormous o.O
But if it was really the world as we
know, wouldn't they've identified Mindartia and Quon?

My
concern is that what we know as the Northlands are the closest to the new areas. That would mean that the new
areas would be colder areas, unless we are led to believe that the Equator region of the world is where its cold
and it gets progressively hotter as we go away from it

Arapago,
or Arabago, and the two kanji following it means "Island Chain"
meaning, it's a bunch of little islands
grouped togather, so i think you guys are just reading too much into this

hmm
maybe that is a corner of
our world map? SE might have just gotten lazy and made an island that was just a similar upside-down version of
our world. who knows.
that part on the far left of the picture might be something completely different. i
guess its all guessing unless someone has this fully translated and has more pictures from famitsu.

Wrong in direction, name(it that Reef place), shape(For one, Vana'diel we know is in two places and the islands
look nothing at all like ours), and finally, size. The planet isn't that big.

It isn't
upside down, it's a view from above. THE NORTH POLE IS IN THE CENTER!
Planets are round, you
know! That's also why the continents are shaped oddly. Things get stretched towards the outside edge. This means
that the "new" continent isn't nearly as big as it looks.
That's why on our world map (in the usual
projections), Antarctica takes up like 1/8 of the map, when it's really very small.

If this
is really the scale of the new area we are about to play in... wow....
if not... well at least i can look
at the pretty new outdoor areas for hours and pretend that i could implant Zi'tah inside them a million times

How do I make this clear. I mean... the fact that the area has a name that is a zone in ToUA should be enough. It
doesn't stop there, its wrong in everyway possible.
The theory is wrong. Do I need to explain?

Well I
don't know if it's picture quality or how it actually looks but this is the only problem I have with the
picture..
As you can see, it looks as if there is a line running down the enlarged pitcures of the "current
continent." I don't know if that is a mistake or what, but it just red flagged me.
Anywho, that was a
good idea Phedre. I really hope that the new continent is that big, but I'm thinking that the map is of the ToAU
areas only. Guess we'll have to wait and see..

Go west long enough, and
you'll end up east of where you started.
Think about it.

look at the top middle of the map, theres a mark just like it. and look
at the right side of the map in the middle, same mark just darker. its also in the bottom part just sticking out a
bit from underneath the japanese label. its just telling directions, its not another land mass

Yes, but in
geography you wouldn't describe Africa as being east of India. By that logic everything is east and west of
everything else...

I thought Mhaura(sp?) was the nearest port to the area in ToAU...
Acording to that it isnt
:|
My guess is that island is:

/points at the land mass in the
background.
When you look at it (even tho your looking at a side view and a birds eye view) The look kinda
similar
I got bored
