Basically speaking, instead of claiming monster like flipping a switch, we get an enmity gauge to determine who
claims it. I will explain with some wooooot graphical explanation(please refer to pic from official updates, since
I will use A, and B in the example too):
Say, after I AoE a bunch of Mandragora, the enmity gauge will look
like this:
[____________A_i_______________________B_______________]
with "i" being the needle on the
gauge. Now after "B" got the monster's initial attention with some sorta action, either heal, dia, or attack,
everytime when "B" does something, the needle moves toward "B" a little; same goes for "A", who has the attention
of the monster since the start. As long as the needle stays in the middle(between "A" and "B"), both "A" and "B"
can attack the monster; but once it went past "A" or "B", the monster become claimed by either side, so if "A" got
a dominate hate, the monster would be red to "A", purple to "B".
[_____i_______A________________________B________________]
so during this time, "A" has control over the
monster. However, "B" can continue to spam hate-gaining moves, and if "A" is somehow retarded, lost hate to "B",
then the monster will become yellow again.
For example, a white mage claimed a mandragora, red name, after his
enmity "fight" with a monk, after the mandragora turned purple, monk continue to spam his
boost/focus/counterstance/etc, if by doing those skills, monk gained higher hate than the white mage, the monster
become yellow.
I hope this help. I tested the patch with my friend, as soon as server reopened last night,
and that's my understanding.
For HNMLS drama KS omglolyesplz: Say the monster return to yellow for
whatever reason during the fight(like before the patch), and rival LS threw a stun at it, since their single stun
won't have enough hate to get it off your already stored hate, they cannot claim it, they can however, attack it
and try to get hate before your LS return it to dominate hate. If your rival LS managed to steal your NM's hate
completely(they get domination over claim), you can still try to get your hate back with various moves, as you
have already flipped the attention switch on.
For PLing: I would say, try not to turn the monster's hate
to dominate to PLer, then there shouldn't be much problem. The only thing that changed is, PLee now have to get
hate.
For MPK: As being said, this is to counter the "I sleepga a bunch of darters, rival LS throw diaga on
them, claimed them, but darter stayed attacking me" problem... As far as I see, this patch fixed it. When the
monster's attention is split between "A" and "B", it will attack both side like before, but as soon as it's hate
is dominated by one side, it won't attack the other side til, of course the other side regain enough hate to get
its attention.
Things I didn't test: Killing a monster in yellow name with my friend(outside party), what
would happen to the drop?
