Monster

behavior has been altered in the following ways to counter MPK issues:

The conditions for claiming monsters

has been changed in the following ways. Accordingly, players will no longer be attacked by monsters that they

themselves are unable to attack.

http://www.playonlin...6041883vPh1/24- 1_us.jpg

Monsters' area

attacks have been altered to affect the players who have incurred the notorious monster's enmity and their party

or alliance members, rather than all players in the area of effect. Certain monsters will be exempt from this

change.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now my

question is, lets say i'm PLing someone, and by healing, i get hate. Wont that make the mob go unclaimed or

claimed by me?
They're saying you cant claim a monster if you dont have hate towards him. So, the one i'm

PLing wont claim the monster, right? and even if he kills it, who'll get exp?

I'm kinda confused about

that and I cant check it myself for some hours. Has anyone tested this yet?

I think this update will be really great, If I have understood it correctly..

This will

really help me with farming as I usually Train about 20-30 mobs (Depending on their lvl) and Shockwave them which

generally generates massive hate. Then some Bastard comes along and thinks hey i can nick some mobs from my train

for an easy kill (they get any drops when I have done all the work) Then they realise they cant get the hate off

me and I find my self running around with a mob/s chasing me that have been claimed by (the Bastard) Nub that I

cannot kill.

That makes me so mad cos 1) its cheap and 2) it's fukin annoying!

So basically it

means that those idiots that think it is ok to steal from someone's farming Train wont be able to claim them as I

will have so much hate generated! ^^ Sweet I say!

(Please bear in mind that I do not farm in this manner in

XP areas and I am also very considerate to other farmers I.E. If I see them farming in an area I move to another)

Oh and to answer that question, based on those diagrams I think that if you have already claimed the

mob and it is "red" then when a PL cures you it will not go unclaimed I think it is referring to mobs that has

Enmity towards a player but is not claimed like in the Farming Train instance as you can only claim one Mob at a

time. The only problems I can see this causing is if someone is being chased by a Train because of an accidentally

AoE spell/WS and needs help, if he has generated too much hate then people may not be able to Voke or get the mobs

off them if they wanted to help which could cause more deaths than Mpk ^^.

As I

understand it, this fix actually will be greatly beneficial to PTs killing HNMs. If KB goes unclaimed for a few

seconds, someone that is spamming provoke will not be able to steal it from those who are fighting it while it

still has hate for them.

This prevents the situation where Player from pt 'A' has hate and is taking

damage but mob is claimed by players from pt 'B' (thus making Player from pt 'A' unable to fight back)

Yes, I

understand its uses. But in same cases, its not all that good, or maybe it is. No more PLing noobs in dunes tongue.gif

they'll have to actually learn how to do their job ^^

If I

understand correctly, PLing will still be possible (more's the pity). Say, you've got a party with a PL. The

party has hate at first, but then the WHM gets hate by curing. Since the monster is attacking the WHM, it won't

be Purple to the WHM. However, since the WHM has not attacked the monster, or done anything else to claim it, it

will not be Red to the WHM, either. So what will it be? My guess will be Yellow. So, the party being PL'd will

still be able to attack and kill the mob - it will just stay Yellow most of the fight.

Of course, this DOES

open up the opportunity for kill-stealing. A player can just stand around a party being PL'd, wait for the

monster to be low on hp and Yellow, and then hit it with a powerful attack for virtually free exp. I'd imagine

this will be a popular tactic among unscrupulous BLM's. biggrin.gif If it gets to be really bad, maybe we'll FINALLY see

an end to PLing, once and for all!

Wow,

sounds like it will be fun to find out. But I wonder how this will effect fighting HNMs. If pty wipes, can

bystanders claim the mob and get the drops to follow??

Basically speaking, instead of claiming monster like flipping a switch, we get an enmity gauge to determine who

claims it. I will explain with some wooooot graphical explanation(please refer to pic from official updates, since

I will use A, and B in the example too):

Say, after I AoE a bunch of Mandragora, the enmity gauge will look

like this:

[____________A_i_______________________B_______________]

with "i" being the needle on the

gauge. Now after "B" got the monster's initial attention with some sorta action, either heal, dia, or attack,

everytime when "B" does something, the needle moves toward "B" a little; same goes for "A", who has the attention

of the monster since the start. As long as the needle stays in the middle(between "A" and "B"), both "A" and "B"

can attack the monster; but once it went past "A" or "B", the monster become claimed by either side, so if "A" got

a dominate hate, the monster would be red to "A", purple to "B".

[_____i_______A________________________B________________]

so during this time, "A" has control over the

monster. However, "B" can continue to spam hate-gaining moves, and if "A" is somehow retarded, lost hate to "B",

then the monster will become yellow again.
For example, a white mage claimed a mandragora, red name, after his

enmity "fight" with a monk, after the mandragora turned purple, monk continue to spam his

boost/focus/counterstance/etc, if by doing those skills, monk gained higher hate than the white mage, the monster

become yellow.

I hope this help. I tested the patch with my friend, as soon as server reopened last night,

and that's my understanding.

For HNMLS drama KS omglolyesplz: Say the monster return to yellow for

whatever reason during the fight(like before the patch), and rival LS threw a stun at it, since their single stun

won't have enough hate to get it off your already stored hate, they cannot claim it, they can however, attack it

and try to get hate before your LS return it to dominate hate. If your rival LS managed to steal your NM's hate

completely(they get domination over claim), you can still try to get your hate back with various moves, as you

have already flipped the attention switch on.

For PLing: I would say, try not to turn the monster's hate

to dominate to PLer, then there shouldn't be much problem. The only thing that changed is, PLee now have to get

hate.

For MPK: As being said, this is to counter the "I sleepga a bunch of darters, rival LS throw diaga on

them, claimed them, but darter stayed attacking me" problem... As far as I see, this patch fixed it. When the

monster's attention is split between "A" and "B", it will attack both side like before, but as soon as it's hate

is dominated by one side, it won't attack the other side til, of course the other side regain enough hate to get

its attention.

Things I didn't test: Killing a monster in yellow name with my friend(outside party), what

would happen to the drop?

just confirming what I believe SE

actually mean by this, as far as I can see from looking through it several times.
