Let me just make some things clear... GameStop and EB Games are now technically the same thing now because of a recent merger, except for the fact that some EB's may remain named EB's, but many will be renamed. The policies (with the exceptions of some managers' decisions) are the same.
I also support the pre-order policy, where if you don't preorder and just expect to waltz in and pick up a popular game, you don't get a copy if they don't have enough. And as for the person asking about if it was a down-payment or not... Yes, pre-ordering/reserving puts money down towards the price of the game itself, not just pay then disappear. You never lose your money, even if you decide to cancel your order, even AFTER the game is out (unless the associate is just an ass and tries to tell you otherwise)
Gamstop sucks

I got a phone call from EB's automated service on Monday telling me the game would be in the 18th. I went at noon yesterday and the guy told me to come back at one. I came back at one and the guy told me that he had to "go pick them up from the factory" and that they'd have it in by 2:30pm. I finally managed to get mine at 3pm. :boing
When I preordered Chains of Promathia, however... :scream:wall

Wow, yet another anon poster decides to grace flamewars with their presence. *clap*
How about you practice what you preach instead of wasting your time on message boards, since you're obviously an advocate of going outside.

How about going outside in the meantime?

First of all, how is making one post suggesting that the Topic Creator go outside while waiting for a game to come out to get some fresh air to become relieved of his or her stress wasting time?
Sorry for trying to help someone out. Maybe you should try cooling off, yourself. Relieve that hostility; go outside for a couple of minutes.

This is bullshit. Fucking EB Games didn't have my damn shit. Fuck. Of course I'm the goddamn Rockius, always got a backup plan. Plan B was to go to other stores and get it. Better than Plan C, it was to wait a few days and get it. The other store, a store that isn't even name brand, just some dudes with gold chains selling games had it. Dude. Dude. Dude.
Dude.
They don't have commercials on TV or anything. They don't even have uniforms. They're just dudes in sweats, muscle t's and gold chains selling games and they had it. Didn't even pay tax. Thirty bucks even. EB Games can suck my 9" dick. I wasted five goddamn dollars reserving it. I never reserve games for this very reason. Yet I went against my gut instinct because I wanted this game so much and I got burned.
/sigh
Could be worse. Could not have it at all. 22 minutes left on the installation.
Mission complete.

That's why I don't reserve, there's bound to be at least one store in the city that has the game. I checked all over town this morning and couldn't get one, went to another gamestop a while ago and finally got it. Naturally the clerk gives me the line of bull that it's the last one and I should have reserved yadda yadda yadda.
Oh, and to the person that said EB games and Gamestop are the same, while they are owned by the same company, the staff in EB games is usually much more helpfull where I live. They don't hound you to pre-order every new game, they don't hound you for a subscription to their magazine, they know wtf they are talking about with games, etc. I walk into gamestop and the clerks are asshats, unprofessional to say the least, try to get me to sign up for the magazine/preorder another game even after I've said no. Really, while you might be told to try to get people to order that stuff, when someone says no, shut up about it.
Do you honestly think that by you telling them to go outside, they're going to do it? As it's been said many times before in Flamewars, most people that can think for themselves don't like to be told what to do, especially by some anon poster. It also helps to quote the person who you're talking to so the person above you doesn't think you're talking to them. The site has quotes for a reason...
