Hey all, I'm having a problem with the Dropped Item quest on the airships. I've done the quest many times, but ever since I did the Sandoria smuggling quest, I can't do the dropped item quest. Here's the details:

I went to Sandoria and started the smuggling quest.

I flew to Jeuno, carrying the smuggled items, and I /think/ I was able to do the dropped item quest on the way there.

I got through customs and delivered the smuggled goods to the tenshodo person.

I returned to Sandoria and got paid for the smuggling quest.

Now, whenever I talk to the NPC who gives the dropped item quest, all they say is "it's my job to look out for suspicious people on the airship."

I tried doing the smuggling quest again, this time I spoke to no one at the ports or on the airship. I got through customs, made the delivery, still can't get the dropped item quest. This stinks, since I travel so much and could use the gil. How can I fix this? Thanks in advance for your help.

It's entirely possible that the smuggling quest removes the ability to do the dropped item quest, since you might now be one of those 'suspicious people' that the guard is looking for. Why should he trust a suspected smuggler with the dropped item?

No, it doesn't. I've done both quests repeatedly, and I've both succeeded and been caught multiple times since the dropped item NPC was added. Unless they've changed something recently, it shouldn't make a difference.

Next time you go from sand'oria talk to the passengers.. and just deliver the item to someone.. Then you can do it again! (check if you have Dropped item in the key items list first though..)

Just an update -- I found out what the problem was. If you FAIL to give the item to the right person, you have to go back to that city and talk to the quest-giver again. This will reset the quest. It has nothing to do with the smuggling, it's only because the quest has been failed at one point.
