Last night I was in a lvl 55ish PT with a ranger.
Ranger shoots for 160 gun/sb
Corsair shoots for 145 gun/ib
Melees are hitting for 30-40.
Seriously, what possesses people to think damage decreases? Jobs do not get some magical "Damage down" job trait as they get higher.
I should actually save some of my parses and post them ;>, I'm consistantly doing 80% the damage of our DDs/RNGs , well managing 3 sets of buffs.
No, this job is not broken at all for XP.
(Though I agree, at endgame it'll be a much larger support role for merit parties, because well, at that point RNGs suck too!)

So what your saying...is...weapons have a delay? A number of seconds between attacks?
Good god man...
This changes everything...

And how crucial would you say /rng is to that dmg? My desire to level rng is even less than my desire to level whm, and just ask any of my lsmates how much I want to level whm T_T.
Also what food are you using? I generally try to shy away from sushi pre-50, but thats always been on normal melee jobs, and ranged attacks play by a different set of rules.

It depends alot on what I'm fighting.
I general, I'd say when fighting IT+++. /rng is cruical, I ussually eat sushi from 30 and on...when they start turning VT I switch to meat.
Its not so much for the accuracy trait(which is pretty minor), its for the Beater's Mantle, Beater's Earring, and the Gun belt.
Those three items *combined* with sharpshot(how I love you with recent patch), and rapid shot(enhanced by mantle quite significantly), is what makes /rng my ideal choice as a DD enhancing sub for COR.
I had originally planned to use /war when I got into my 40s, but it just didn't work as well as I hoped, and I changed back to /rng.

This job seems really involved, I'm loving it. I'm finding it difficult to graspa few things but I can't really ask about the job until I get expansion though, thanks for sharing all that info and congrats on passing the mid 50s with COR
I saw you at lvl 52 last nigh in KRT.

Dont know if this will help, but yesterday i partied with a Corsair in Crawlers nest. We started out fighting crawlers, then shortly went to beetles. He was doing 80-100 per ranged attack, in pure ranged gear (Noct+1, archer knives, p charm, etc). All i have to say is, I think Corsair is an amazing job. I thought of it as a bard, without finale/ballad yet, BUT who also has potential damage dealing prowess.

So..... I partied with a summoner today.....
Evoker's roll with a 5 roll plus mages ballad gave me 6 MP/Tick.......

If his info is right he says he is lvl 47 cor soooo im guessing the bard only had ballad 1.. so that means that the effect of the roll is doubled when a smn is in the party O.O inmagine a perfect roll

So apparently Magic Attack boosts the damage, but what about the accuracy?
We've been told it can miss so what helps the accuracy? Is it treated as a bullet or a spell?

I would assume that it would be a R.ACC test rather than a magic accuracy test, but either way, MAB will have no effect on accuracy. MAB affects magic damage only.

I've was reading this while at work and I'm going to have to agree with RangeNddare. I hit COR29 last night, along with my LS mate, in Yhoater Jungle. Everything hes posted has been pretty consistant with what I and my friend experienced last night fighting Mandies.
Without sushi and Racc Roll, my acc was prob around 60%. With sushi and Acc Roll, was near 75-80%.
At 29COR my normal dmg was averaging around 55-65 dmg, some higher some lower depending on sweetspot, with sushi.
This was all with /rng sub.
My pt had 2 mnks as tanks, and me(being corair) pulled hate even from 2 Mnk's, occasionally. Usually only when we did a Dice roll mid fight.
COR/RNG is a DD, at this level, no doubt about it.

Was that reported by the Summoner? Because don't forget that Summoner has Auto-Refresh after level 25 and would naturally get 1 MP/Tic before Evoker's Roll and Ballad bonuses. Or do you mean yourself was getting 6MP/Tic back when you subbed a Mage job as Corsair?

You would assume but that's all it is, an assumption. Until I see a clear correlation between ranged accuracy and the accuracy of Quick Draw I'm not counting it as "proof".
I'm also interested if this ability is able to MB, probably not but would be fun if it did ^^;

Hello everyone. I am a Level 42 Corsair using a Ninja support job. Here are my findings:
1.) During hours of EXPing from 40 to 42 I've been able to test out Quick Draw a good number of times. Not once have I missed. Ever. The abilty seems to be pure Magic Damage. It can be resisted. Example: Most QD's will hit for either 132 or 66. 132 is a 100% QD while 66 is a 50% resist. I've also known it to hit for much less: in the 10-20 range- a near-complete resist.
2.) Screenshots
Note: Bees are weak to Ice.
COR/BLM Ice Shot VS Sarutabaruta Bumblebee
COR/NIN Ice Shot VS Sarutabaruta Bumblebee
Conclusion: Magic Attack Bonus affects damage.
3.) Another Hume Corsair has mentioned doing Quick Draw for steady 138's. As Mithra I get 132- there must be a Stat which affects the damage. Intelligence?

Maybe different weapons? OP reported that DMG rating affected Quick Shot damage.

I tested all stats when a brd and none did everything, I was doing the same consistant damage everytime despite +12 in different stats.
Only things I found to effect it are:
Level:DMG:MATK
Possibly MACC but that'd be almost impossible to test on too weaks, have to do on HNMs for some kinda of consistancy in results where your possibly getting resisted frequently.
If something else effects it I have no idea how it would work, because least from my own testing no base stat did anything.
Edit: It may not be level, but stat increases from different subs too? , doesn't make alot of sense but maybe a stat effects it, but only unmodafied?, it would be the first ability that ever worked that way I think, but its only thing I could think of that would explain damage differances between races at same level with same weapon.
What weapon were you using btw?

So I just hit 40 yesterday. And Quick Draw is pretty awesome. at 41 i was doing 132 damage. Pirate DMG 20 + Bullet DMG 46 = 66 x2 = 132... just an observation. I was doing either 132, 66, or 33, and even a 3... lol. Went to Gustaberg and tested /blm and rep. circlet. 5 MAB was adding 20 more damageand /blm and rep circlet was 168. I see some high end ownage with it. Perfect macro later on can include Ugg. Pendent and Moldy earring and element staff if you dont need TP. Seems like a solid JA. I really like Light Shot > WS. Damage goes up some, and will go up alot more when jobs have better WS.
Im having more fun than ever. Evokers roll was so job rewarding. V as lucky number is so amazing. Its really damn easy to get V X or XI. It just is. More chances to hit the right number. the whm and rdm in my pt was extremely bored, especially with a good ninja tank. WHM spammed bansih II and rdm just anything and they still never ran out of mp. 5-7 Mp refresh and healers roll is pretty intense at lvl 40-41
