Kurokikaze’s Blue Mage FAQ v2.0

-->Getting the quest:<--
“An Empty Vessel”
Client: Waoud (Heretic’s Alley, Aht Urhgan Whitegate)
Summary:
There is a rare treasure in the “Middle Lands” that Waoud needs someone to obtain for him…
- Talk to him and he’ll ask you about 8 or so questions. Depending on your answers you may be sent to:
o Dangruf Wadi for a Wadi Stone
o Valkurm Dunes for Sunsand
o North Gustaburg for a Siren’s Tear

Return to him with the item and he’ll tell you to go take it to his friend in Aydeewa Subterrane. You can reach this zone by going through the Bhaflau Thickets. Once in the zone just hug the left wall till you go down a hill that leads to a giant tile with a blue-ish glow. Stand on it for a cutscene. When the cutscene is over you will get the Blue Mage job and a warp back to Aht Urhgan.

[red]New![/red]
-->Artifact Quests<--
"Beginnings" - Immortal Scimitar
Client: Waoud (Heretic's Alley, Aht Urhgan Whitegate)
Summary:
An unavoidable decision... If you would seek even greater power, meet with the Immortals stationed at Azouph Isle, Dvucca Isle, Mamool Ja, Halvung, and Ilrusi Staging Points.
- Talk to Waoud to start the quest and view your cutscene.
- Go to each of the five staging points and talk to the Immortals there for a quick cutscene and a key item.
- Once you've obtained all the key items, go talk to Waoud for the final cutscene and your sword.

Note: To receive the next quest you must wait till JP midnight.

"Omens" - Magus Charuqs
Client: Waoud (Heretic's Ally, Aht Urhgan Whitegate)
Summary:
The only choice you have left is to forge ahead in the quest for power, or face your own destruction... If ambition still fuels your soul head to the Navukgo Execution Grounds and obliterate the monstrous flan.
- Talk to Waoud start the quest. Raubhan will tell you to go to the Navukgo Execution Grounds during this cutscene.
- To get to the execution grounds you must go to the Halvung staging point and head for the Halvung Gate. You or someone in your PT/Alliance will need a Cast Metal Plate to open this gate. Once you're through go West-Northwest to reach G-6 part of the map. (If you're using FFXI-Atlas map it's zone out #8.) When you're inside Halvung you will want to head West and head to exit #5. Once you're back outside head North till you get to an underground area and zone into the execution grounds.
- To start the BCNM against the Flan talk to the Decorative Gate and choose 'Omens'.
- This fight itself is relatively easy for a level 75 character. A melee subbing Ninja can kill this without too much problems. Just need to watch out for Ga spells, Sleepga, Thundaga II etc.
- After the fight return to Waoud to get a cutscene and a key item: Sealed Immortal Envelope.
- Take the envelope to Lathuya at the Imperial Livery in west section of Aht Urhgan Whitegate for a cutscene. She tells you her boss is somewhere in Aydeewa Subterrane
- Enter Aydeewa Subterrane from (K-9) in Wajaom Woodlands. When you zone in just go straight ahead until you reach a pool with a targetable spot. Touch it for cutscene. After the cutscene go back to Whitegate and talk with Lathuya again.
- You will be awarded your AF1 boots when you talk to Lathuya for final cutscene

Note: To receive the next quest you must wait till JP Midnight.

"Transformations" - Magus Keffiyeh
Client: Waoud (Heretic's Ally, Aht Urhgan Whitegate)
Summary: A juvenile Soulflayer has been discovered in the Alzadaal Undersea Ruins. Make your way to the ruins and eliminate the threat.
- Talk to Waoud and choose to gaze upon the tapestry. He will give you a clue as to where you need to go next.
- Touch the door to the Imperial Palace in Aht Urhganwhite to start the quest.
Note: You will need 2 Imperial Silver Pieces to finish this.
- Go to (J-10) in Caedarva Mire and pay the Blue Mage there 1 silver to enter the ruins. Once inside proceed forward for another cutscene.
- Now go upstairs by standing on one of the platforms there (only one is active at the moment). Once upstairs go towards the hallway for another cutscene.
- After that cutscene make your way back to Caedarva Mire and head to Nashmau. Once in Nashmau take the western exit out to Caedarva Mire.
- Hug the left wall till you get to a Blue Mage. Trade him 1 silver to enter the ruins.
- When you're inside use the teleporter to go to the next area. There will be a targetable spot to the left. This will pop the NM.
- The NM is not hard but its probably not a good idea to solo it. It likes to spam AoE Dispel that removes 2-4 buffs. Dont bother trying to Dispel it's buffs like Ice Spikes, yeah as annoying as it is, since it resists. A melee subbing NIN with a RDM healing is enough to kill the NM.
- Upon beating the NM touch the targetable spot for the final cutscene and your AF hat.

Now to get the rest of the AF you must talk to Lathuya for a cutscene. You are required to bring materials and a fee in Aht Urhgan currency in order for them to make your AF. The wait from giving in items to get the AF piece is 1 game day. The wait from getting 1 piece of AF to another is 1 earth day. Here are the required items:

Magus Jubbah
1 velvet cloth
1 chimera blood
1 karakul cloth
1 imperial silk cloth
4 imperial mythril coins

Magus Shalwar
1 gold chain
1 velvet cloth
1 flan meat
1 imperial silk cloth
2 imperial mythril coins

Magus Bazubands
1 platinum sheet
1 venom potion
1 velvet cloth
1 karakul leather
2 imperial mythril pieces

Note: Imperial Silk Cloth are a desynth from Soulflayer robes which drop off Soulflayers in Arrapago Reef. They are VT to Lv75 so make sure you bring some help along.

-->Job Abilities<--
Azure Lore Lv1 (02:00:00) - Enhances the effect of blue magic spells.
Burst Affinity Lv25 (00:02:00) - Makes it possible for your next “magical” blue magic spell to be used in a Magic Burst.
Chain Affinity Lv40 (00:02:00)- Makes it possible for your next “physical” blue magic spell to be used in a Skillchain. Effect varies with TP.

Q: How does Azure Lore enhance your blue magic spells?
A: When used with Chain Affinity it makes your spells have the mods of 350% TP. Quite a nice boost but it's a short timer.

Q: Is it true that if I use Chain Affinity and a “physical” blue magic spell my TP drops to 0?
A: Yes it does.

Q: Is it possible to solo a skillchain with Chain Affinity?
A: It sure is, you can even MB it if you want to. Always use your sword weapon skill first though since you lose TP. Try doing:
Red Lotus Blade > Chain Affinity > Bludgeon > Liquefaction > Burst Affinity > Bomb Toss MB.

-->Job Traits<--
Blue Mage does not get a single Job Trait naturally. In order to get Job Traits for your Blue Mage you will need to have certain spells equipped. Here are the Spell combos I’ve come across:
- Beast Killer = Sprout Smack + Wild Oats. (Thanks Kune)
- Undead Killer = Smite of Rage + Bludgeon
- Max MP Up = Mysterious Light + Metallic Body (Thanks KI Forums)
- Lizard Killer = Foot Kick + Claw Cyclone
- Auto Regen = Sheep Song + Healing Breeze
- Rapid Shot = Jet Stream + Feather Storm
- Clear Mind = Soporic + Poison Breath (Thanks Onion/Edc)
- Defense Bonus = Grand Slam + Terror Touch (Thanks Onion/Edc)
- Attack Bonus = Battle Dance + Uppercut (Thanks Onion/Edc)
- Magic Attack Bonus = Sound Blast + Cursed Sphere (Thanks Onion/Edc)
- Auto-Refresh = Self Destruct + Cold Wave + Frightful Roar + Voracious Trunk (Thanks KI Forums)

[red]Important![/red]
The list here and any other you would find on these forums are just too out of order and missing some important information so I give you this link: http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi...09blu-combo.htm This has every single combination in the game and tells you how many points are required to set them. Everything you need to know is there.

Seeing this, I think it’s safe to say that a 75 Blue Mage with all the spells will have access to just about every single Job Trait in the game. This gives players more incentive to acquire every spell in the game, no matter how worthless they may be.

-->Learning spells 101<--

Q: How do I learn spells?
A: Kill a monster after it does a certain spell you want to learn.

Q: Is there anyway to make learning spells go faster?
A: Yes. Cap your Blue Magic skill.

Q: What is a good way to cap your Blue Magic skill at low levels?
A: Spam Foot Kick or Sandspin on a group of mobs. The latter might require a healer or high level character.

Q: It’s so hard learning Foot Kick, Pollen, and Sandspin. What do I do?
A: Keep at it is all I can say. Your first spell is always the hardest to learn due to the fact that you don’t have anything to skill up your Blue Magic Skill with.

Q: What is the highest level spell I can get for my current level?
A: You can learn spells up to 10 levels higher than you.
Correction: The gap for spell learning seems to drop down to 6 after Lv50.

Q: Is it possible to learn a spell from “Too Weak” mobs?
A: Not from what I’ve seen. I’ve always made sure they were at least “Easy Prey” so I don’t wind up wasting my time.
Correction: It is possible to learn spells from mobs that are "Too Weak"

Q: Is it possible to learn a spell with a higher level person in the party?
A: Yes. To be honest, this is exactly how I got all my skills. Use a high level mage to spam Dia on the mob and give it TP then kill the mob once it uses the spell you want to learn.

Q: What the hell… These crawlers are not teaching me Poison Breath even though they’ve used it every time. Am I doing something wrong?
A: Yes. You and I were both misinformed. Poison Breath is from undead dogs that can be found in Gusgen Mines, Eldieme Necropolis, and King Ranperre’s Tomb. Don’t go waste an hour and a half trying to get it off crawlers like I did.

Q: Does Azure Lore help me learn spells faster?
A: No.

Q: What are the best zones to learn low level spells in?
A: Tahrongi Canyon and Buburimu Peninsula as there is a huge variety of mob families to learn spells from.

Q: Can you get them all in those zones?
A: Obviously not. It’s just those are the places where most of the lower level spells can be learned. When I say “lower levels” I mean 5 through 20.

Q: Should I bother getting all my spells? Some of them don’t seem like they are worth the time to camp.
A: Yes. Learn every spell in the game. BLM’s Stonega II is by far the most useless/expensive spell in their arsenal… But they still buy or camp it. So make sure you get all your spells. Be a perfectionist.

Q: Is it possible to miss certain spells?
A: Yes. There are a few mob families who do not go as far as to become “Easy Prey” to a Lv75 character. So get the spells while you can. After every party go back and get the spells you missed.
Correction: It is possible to learn spells from mobs that are "Too Weak"

[red]Important![/red]
As of Level 60 learning spells has become a PITA. There are a few mobs that have certain conditions that must be met before they used the appropriate spell. Heres a small list of em and some tips.

Frenetic Rip (Lv63.) - Imps - To learn the spell the Imp has to have it's horn broken. In order for this to happen you have to land a crit or a WS just as it starts swinging at you. Theres a slight chance that it'll break though, it's not 100%. Best thing to do is to get a MNK friend with Destroyers and to rough em up a bit. Once their horn is broken they will use Frenetic Rip and only that until it reaches behind it's back and pulls out another horn.

Spinal Cleave (Lv63.) - Qutrubs - To learn the spell the Qutrub has to have it's main sword broken. It carries two, one in hand and one is sheathed. Destroy the on-hand sword using the same method used for Imps and it will start using H2H. When it's using H2H and has it's other sword sheathed it can do Spinal Cleave, but it has a ton of other moves it can do such as 2-3 different Wails and Hex Palm. If it pulls it's other sword out just turn around and wait for it to put it away. Once the second sword is broken it cannot do Spinal Cleave.

Enervation (Lv67.) - Trolls - Can only be learned off the softskinned or brown version of trolls as far as I can tell. No real trick needed.

Diamondhide (Lv67.) - Trolls - Can only be learned off the armored green version of trolls. No real trick needed.

Warm Up (Lv68.) - Mamool - Can only be learned off the brown version of Mamools. No real trick needed.

Firespit (Lv68.) - Mamool - Can only be learned off the blue version of Mamools. No real trick needed.

Hysteric Barrage (Lv69.) - Lamie - Can only be learned off the Merrow version of Lamie (green ones). Hysteric Barrage is their H2H weapon skill so you will need to break their weapon using same tactics as was used for Imps and Qutrub.

Tail Slap (Lv69.) - Lamie - Can only be learned off the Lamia version of Lamie (blue ones). No real trick needed, they seem to spam this often.

Cannonball (Lv70.) - Wamaura - This spell is only used when the Wamaura is curled up in a ball. No real trick to forcing them into ball form, just wait it out.

Note: There is a chance to learn all these spells except Frenetic Rip during the appropriate Besieged. It may be a bit harder though, I personally have not learned a spell this way but have seen many screenshots from others that have. Your milage may vary.

-->Spells<--
A list of all the Blue Mage attainable spells can be found at http://mysterytour.web.infoseek.co.jp/ffxi...roll/009blu.htm. Live it, learn it, and love it.

Q: Is it possible to skillchain with a “physical” blue magic spells before Lv40?
A: No. The same holds true for trying to Magic Burst “magical” blue magic spells before Lv25.

Q: I know they are called “spells” by definition… but… Do they stack with Sneak Attack?
A: Yes they do. This only applies to the single target “physical” blue magic spells. AoE ones do not stack.
Correction: Frontal physical spells also stack with Sneak Attack. (Thanks h337 l4x0r for the heads up.)

Q: Wait a tic… So that means they work like normal melee weapon skills where if I wanted to get more damage I stacked STR?
A: Yes. Macroing in STR, ATK, and ACC can help boost the damage of your “physical” blue magic spells.
Correction: Each spells has modifiers that boost it's damage. Most are STR some may be AGI, DEX etc. All is explained here: http://www.neko-sentai.com/images/BlumageNFO.htm Huge props to Gulkeeva for translating this information. Check it out!

Q: And for “magical” blue magic skills I need…?
A: INT for your nukes and certain debuffs. MND for cures and certain debuffs.
Correction: As stated in the last question. Check the link.

[red]New![/red]
Q: Do our spells work in the same manner as BST mobs? Like are Vermin spells stronger on Plantoid mobs?
A: Yes. Heres a really nice chart someone sent me on AIM: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Kur...01/bluChart.png

-->Partying 101<--
This job is not ONE job. It is many jobs. It is what I like to call “The Warrior of mage jobs” because it’s that versatile. The role you play in a party is determined by what the party needs. Of course this is all after Lv37 when the game actually starts. You can gimp a job to 37… But after that you better get serious.

The sub jobs I am about to say are NOT what you should go by. I am merely giving suggestions. You are free to play this job whatever way you like. Anyways… This is what I recommend:
Lv1 - 20:
Any sub job will do.
WHM or RDM is nice to sub for Cure 1 when soloing, can help you keep those chains going longer.

Q: Solo 1-20? Really?
A: Yeah. I will not talk about playing a job in Valkurm Dunes since I have not gone to that shithole since Lv12 Paladin. I hate that place and it's idiots with a passion. Sorry. Powerlevel for the win.

Lv20 - 30:
WHM, RDM, or BLM.
I personally stuck with BLM sub until 30 since they get Magic Attack Bonus at Lv10. I tried to sub NIN and melee at 24 but ended up going back to subbing BLM since I ran out of MP too quickly and felt I missed the mobs too much.
Note: The sub you choose will be the role you fill in the party.
stormos10: "Tried BLU tanking in PTs 14-23 and it rocks. I get hit less than PLDs and hold hate well with bludgeon. So WAR sub should definitely be an option. I'm not sure how well the defense can keep up at higher levels but at Lv23 I have VIT+20(with tacos) and defense 250."

Lv30 - 37:
WHM, RDM, BLM, THF, WAR, or NIN.
This is the range where you’re able to start taking the role of a melee in the party since you get better gear to help you out. Jaeger Ring and Centurion Swords are a godsend. I have tried both THF and NIN sub. They both have their own pros but the cons are the same. No MP regen unless there is a BRD in the party.
Note: The sub you choose will be the role you fill in the party.

Q: Does that mean if I sub WAR/NIN I have to tank?
A: No. Not everyone that subs WAR/NIN is a tank. But I can honestly see this job being able to tank with WAR or NIN sub. It’s something I look forward to attempting in the future.

Lv40-50
WHM, RDM, BLM, THF, WAR, or NIN.
You just entered the range where a plethora of new equipments are available to assist with your DD setup. Sniper’s Rings, Combat Caster Scimitars, etc, are a must have to perform well. I’m personally looking forward to Valkyrie’s Mask and Life Belt. The range is great due to the fact that Corsairs get Evoker’s Die and Red Mages get Refresh. With either of these on at all time you rarely have to worry about your MP pool, so you can focus on spamming your damage spells and participating in skillchains and magic bursts. If your MP gets too low you always have MP Drainkiss to fall back on.

[red]Lv50-60[/red]
Any sub you want to play with. Personally I used THF.
From Lv 50 to my current level at 67 my BLU friend and I have outparsed every other melee we exped with. WARs, THFs, CORs, NINs, and SAMs. Using /THF and stacking Sneak Attack with Mandibular Bite or Sickle Slash did dmg in the 300-500 range w/ Chain Affinity. SC used was Red Lotus Blade > Sickle Slash > Gravitation > MP Drainkiss MB if possible to Aspir the mob. Melee damage was pretty decent (about 40ish as usual). Had capped sword Merits so I got Vorpal Blade at level 57, can't say I used it much though. At this point in time I started to notice a big difference in resists rates on the Magical Blue Spells so I kinda stopped doing solo skillchains at 58+. Your milage may vary though. ;D

Gear Info:
Sword: Msk Cmd. Scimitar -> Msk Cmd. Falchion
Shield: None. (Astral Shield is good if you have the money. Or w/e the HP -> MP one is)
Head: Valkyrie's Mask (Voyager's Sallet would own for Spells. But I dont have one)
Body: Brigandine -> Jaridah Peti -> Scorpion Harness.
Hands: Enkelados Bracelets
Legs: Custom M. Slacks
Feet: Custom M. Boots
Ring1: Sniper's Ring (Sun Ring for spells)
Ring2: Jaeger Ring (Sun ring for spells)
Earring1: Morion Earring -> Phantom Earring
Earring2: Morion Earring -> Phantom Earring
Waist: Life belt (Vanguard Belt for spells)
Ammo: Fortune Egg (lol)
Back: Red Cape+1

[red]Lv60-Current Lv[/red]
Any sub you want to play with. Personally I use THF for the most part and tested DRK sub since Souleater is an option.
DRK sub test: I post this information in a thread, but I'll cut and paste it here for the sake of this FAQ.

PT: Gank (PLD/WAR), Kurokikaze (BLU/DRK), Mcfly (BLU/THF), Nsxtasy (COR/RNG), Miracale (SMN/WHM), and Jailbait (BRD/WHM).
Parser screenshot: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Kur...01/DRKvsTHF.jpg
Damage screenshot 1: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Kur...uleaterdmg1.jpg
Damage screenshot 2: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v295/Kur...uleaterdmg2.jpg

Usually Mcfly and I parse on par with eachother. About 500-1000 dmg apart normally. This time I beat him by a little over 3000 and got my ass kicked in the process. The extra damage it put out, although very nice, I felt didnt make up for the MP spent keeping me alive. I almost bit the bullet 4 times in 1 hour. Was still a pretty fun and interesting combo to use. Haha. What I did was equip all my multihit spells and just went crazy while Souleater was active, spamming spells and curing myself in between.

Average numbers for spells without Souleater:
Frenetic Rip - 250
Jet Stream - 120
Bludgeon - 96
Mandibular Bite - 150
Head Butt - 40
Death Scissors - 250

Highest numbers for spells during Souleater:
Frenetic Rip - 595
Jet Stream - 392
Bludgeon - 324
Mandibular Bite - 209
Head Butt - 113
Death Scissors - 305

As you can see. It's best to use Multi-hit physical spells while Souleater is active as they get the bigger boost in dmg. Had to unequip Death Scissors as it was so crappy without the benefit of SA (w/ STR build) and CA.

Despite it being such an MP sponge... I actually kinda liked it lol. Looking forward to trying this with Hysteric Barrage and Disserverment. The combo seems like it might be pretty decent to use for Dynamis Lord. Maybe... We'll see. Just a few more levels! ;D

THF sub still kicks ass of course. SACA Death Scissors does some of the craziest damage I've seen for a level 60 ability. Reminds me of pre-nerfed RNGs on Darters. Anyways as of now I've only been using 4 Physical spells exclusively (Head Butt, Mandibular Bite, Death Scissors, and Frenetic Rip). I start fights with a TA Mandibular Bite onto the tank (100-250 dmg) then behind the back, toss on STR setup and use SA Frenetic Rip. As dumb as it may sound to stack SA with a multi-hit spell I was actually pretty impressed with the numbers it puts out. Usually 350-500 with SA. 600-900 with SACA. But I like saving my CA for Death Scissors. My other spells slots are used to make Auto-Refresh and extra points go to Healing Breeze, Magic Fruit, and MP Drainkiss. MP Drainkiss has been incredibly useful as of late since I found myself in a party chaining VT Mamools in Mamook. Was getting back 50-110 MP back on drains which helped a ton. With Refresh on, Ballad between pulls and MP Drainkiss I had no MP issues at all.

Gear Info:
Sword: Msk. Cmd. Falchion -> Ifrit's Blade -> Wing Sword (Soon)
Shield: None (Looking into getting that shield from Pelican)
Head: Emperor's Hairpin (Figured I'd used this instead for certain spell mods. Ex: Head Butt) Can't really say I miss the 7ATK and 10MP from Valk Mask.)
Body: Scorpion Harness (Can't wait to use Crimson Scale Mail and Homam Corraza)
Hands: Enkelados Bracelet (Pallas would be better... But yeah...)
Legs: Custom M. Slacks (There doesnt seem to be anything better until Crimson/Homam)
Feet: Custom M. Boots (Same as above)
Ring1: Sniper's Ring (Sun Ring for spells)
Ring2: Jaeger Ring (Sun Ring for spells)
Earring1: Hades Earring+1 (Only wearing this since I have it from my PLD. Not a great idea though. This + capped Enmity merits has gotten me killed)
Earring2: Minuet Earring
Waist: Life belt (Vanguard Belt for spells)
Ammo: Fortune Egg (lol)
Back: Amemet Mantle+1

I'll update this part and add HNM information once I hit 75. I am not going to quote others as I would like this part to come from my own experience. Next update to this FAQ will be after the 25th when AF is out and I have a chance to experiment with it. Till then!

-->Shout-outs<--
Gank, Nsxtasy, Brandson, Chronos, and Stephen for the kick ass 2 day static to 37. Fuck the dunes! Tcheeeaaaaa!
Ragnard and Starflare for letting me 2 box their characters or helping me out themselves so I could get my spells. Thanks! <3
Theonion/Edc for providing new combinations for attaining Job Traits.
stormos 10 for insight on tanking with WAR sub at lower levels.
Gank, Nsxtasy, Mcfly, and Hamasaki for that kickass static to Lv67. Unfortunately it's time to part ways. (;_;)
Gulkeeva for translating the Blue Spell modifier information from JP sites.
Falconbalde for a semi-update to the FAQ.

-->Extra<--
If anyone has any questions, comments and/or additions they would like added to the FAQ, please post in this thread or PM me.

This is an excellent guide. It will definitely help me once I hit 30 and get BLU. I plan to go BLU/WAR because I don't feel like leveling up a mage job just for a sub. BLU/WAR has some awesome possibilities anyways. I love the idea of a casting tank. happy.gif;

Thanks for this great guide. You're the first person to answer the questions I've been waiting for and now I think I'm ready to lvl this job.

Yep. Only the single target "physical" blue magic spells though.

I've tried /THF and the dmg still seems a bit random, but I was doing 80+ dmg for every SA-Blue Magic. SA Bludgeon did 177 and that was the most I've done so far. (I got great SA gear too- Emp.Pin, Winged boots, I'm a Mithra :3 and have like +19 DEX from equipping all the DEX spells I could.)

Hmmm. SA doesn't have DEX modifiers when THF is subbed. It's just a normal critical hit. Best way to improve your SA damage when subbed is to go with STR/ATK. =/

Hate to ruin the mood, but you're going to have to level a mage job for BLU sub eventually. Them's the facts.

I don't know enough about DRK to anwser this for me'self, never playing on it much as it is.

Why is/isn't DRK a viable sub?

Seems like it would boost both pysical and magical spells...

Didn't post about DRK sub cause I haven't tried it yet. Looking forward to trying DRK sub out once Souleater becomes available, 60+.

This is an excellent guide. It will definitely help me once I hit 30 and get BLU. I plan to go BLU/WAR because I don't feel like leveling up a mage job just for a sub. BLU/WAR has some awesome possibilities anyways. I love the idea of a casting tank. happy.gif;

Hate to ruin the mood, but you're going to have to level a mage job for BLU sub eventually. Them's the facts.

Not if I use my own strategy. ^^;

Just because its your strategy doesn't mean its a good one. There's nothing wrong with BLU/WAR that I know of, but to limit a versatile job to one sub is a bad strategy.

Q: What is the highest level spell I can get for my current level?
A: You can learn spells up to 10 levels higher than you.

Any possibility that we can get a screenshot with proof of this not word of mouth?
I am a 52 BLU and i do learn my spells in advance. I have yet to learn a spell more than 6 levels higher than me.

I learned Self-Destruct at Lv40. I have a screenshot of when I learned the spell but doesn't show my level so you'll just have to take my word for it. There has also been other players who have gotten spells 10 levels ahead of them. Tried to go 11 levels out and that didn't work well after an hour, so yeah 10 is cap.
