Hi, I just hit level 30 and rank 3 with MNK, and wanna try serious ballista at level 30 cap. I've got a question. Do people sign up without knowing each other necessarily to matches?? I mean, If I sign up alone would I be left alone or do ppl plan strategies with the ones that have signed up? Any help for a match would also be helpful.

Well, there's usually the same people who always attend Ballista, so after time goes on, if you go to frequent Ballista's, you learn their playing styles both when they are enemy and ally. Regardless of being a Ballista noob, or a veteran of sorts, you'll still be in your teams party. Because if you score Gate Breach and are not in a party, only you obtain it. Therefore, it's almost always in the entire squad's best interest to get everyone into a team, so there's higher chances to get Gate Breach for the majority of the team. There's varying circumstances of course, but for the most part, that's a common, and efficient strategy. So you won't have anything to worry about in terms of teamwork. In terms of actually forming strategies though, you're going to probably be disappointed. Basically the only cap that requires a slight bit of thought process is 60 cap, everything else almost always boils down to "lol kil teh guy wit lo def n no shadwos." Uncapped takes a little intelligence too, but nothing ground breaking.

In 30 cap, you're going to more or less be wailing on a single target, usually some sad ass Black Mage that somehow got the idea that he'd be good for a cap lower than 50. That's basically it in terms of tactics. I suppose you can consider knowing when to retreat a tactic, but as a Monk, you don't really need to worry about that.

Generally speaking you don't really need strategies as most people are just out to kill the weakest person, and if they do have a Strategy its usually something like "Lets all kill that one first!", but On previous occasions making a strategy has turned the tide of a match when things maybe slightly uneven.

When you team takes the time to decide a strategy then they can own even when the odds are against them.

For example one time in 30 cap I had a team of predominantly mage class jobs which means weak defence all round me being a drk and despite having massive fire power the mages kept dying too quick.

So a strategy was formed...
we all grouped together and made all the Blm's invisible whilst I ran straight into the enemy alone, of course everyone targeted me and started hacking at me.

Bam! I pop a Carnial incense, they are all hitting me for 0 and before they realise they have 2 Blm's Nuking them with every ga spell they had and a smn to boot finishing off the team with a thunderspark!

they all died and we all got GB.

Hey this may not work every time but taking the time to make a strategy can make a big difference in a match.
