I've got BLM as my sub... until I decide to start levelling summoner or something, it's a very good one. But last night I was on a fame marathon in San d'Oria for Teleport-Holla's quest, and snagged Drain.
I've also started the quest for Aspir in Windurst.
Quandary here...
I want cash, badly... and BLM isn't a main for me. I won't get too much use out of Aspir at my level, and it goes 30k...
Drain I don't know the specifics of, and it goes 10.
I'm committing forum suicide asking for opinions here, but details on the effectivenesses of these spells and reasons to either use or sell them would be welcome.

BLM as a Subjob - complete spell list?

If you ever plan to level BLM or DRK past 25/20, I'd recommend hanging onto/learning them. They're two of the three spells you can use to level your Black Magic skill, and free mp/hp is always nice. I was told (even as a BLM main) that Aspir was worthless - I guess the fact that it was a bunch of melee people telling me this should've hinted to me that they didn't know what they were talking about. I planned on using the scroll from the beginning (which I did) and I don't regret it at all. If you don't think you're going to use either of those two classes however, just sell them. If you need to buy it later you're technically not out any money - you'll just be using the money you sold them for.
Of course if you're like me, you'll learn every spell you can regardless of cost. The only spells that I don't have (but plan to get) are some of the elemental debuff spells (Frost and Drown), Ice Spikes (I'm camping Phantoms at every opportunity), and Poison/Sleep II. I just blew about 60k on Thunder II, Blizzaga, and Thundaga if that tells you anything. I do it because I want to be a complete BLM and I love this class; if it doesn't matter to you and you don't think the benefits are worth the cost (e.g. would you buy the spell for 30k?), then sell.

It seems unwise to me to sell off an item like that. You can only ever do the quest once; if you sell it and later need it, you'll be at the mercy of someone else who thinks he'll never need the spell. The price could change drasticly by then.
One alternative you might consider is cashing in some CP for sales items. The 4000-point level 30 gear sells for 9k-12k per piece on Ifrit right now.
Another option that might be worth researching is BCNM50. From what I've read, in one of them, you simply choose one of the three chests, and either die or get loot. You'd basicly be trading in Beastman Seals for money.

I'd hold onto both the spells. I originally sold my drain for the same reason then paid for it later when I wished to level my DRK. If you need money for a WHM level up to 36 get your teleport scrolls and turn yourself into a taxi-whore for the day. Sure, its boring but drag a TV into your room and just idle making money in Jeuno. It's not the most adventurous way to be economical, but it works. (Note- Only said this because you said you were getting your Teleport scrolls)
Drain does nice damage with a high level Dark Magic skill, and Aspir regains some mana. They're not the most important spells on a WHM, but interesting to have. They're mostly saved for BLM/DRK. If you think you'll EVER want these two jobs leveled up I'd keep the scroll. If not, well you can sell them and the worst you'll have happen is regrettion later and necessity to spend 40k)

Speaking as a rdm and I've played drk and blm. I see no reason why you'd sell it. Good to regain some HP while hurting the mob and its good for gilfarming. Aspir is another golden spell, don't sell it. Its too usful.

my opinion, sell em if you need the cash. if you dont plan to be drk or blm then you could probably use the money elsewhere. if you really need em later, then you can buy them as you see fit, the prices aren't going to skyrocket. i mean, if u need the cash, then what good are these scrolls doing in your moghouse for the "chance" that will need them later on?
think about it, they say you'll regret it if you sell them now and later you decide to buy em back again? why? would u buy them for anymore than u sold them? then in the end all you did was net out zero dollars. you sold em for 35-40k, and you end up spending 35-40k later on. if you need the money now, do it. i honestly haven't used drain and aspir in a LONG time because i usually have at least one rdm or brd in the pt.

Drain's still sitting in my mog awaiting it's verdict, and I'm taking a group to horutoto to slaughter beyond the mage door for test answers soon. I like the idea of getting my dark skill up, because I =do= use a bit of debuffing...
I think they're going to enter my library.
