If you can log into WoW or watch a WoW video, there's no limit on the porn available o.O

To me, the graphics were more cartoonish.
To me, the graphics were more cartoonish.
That's all you really needed to say. The first time I saw an Orc in FFXI, I was stunned, because it looked nothing like any Orc I can remember seeing in any fantasy movie. The elementals don't look like any I've ever seen, the races are mostly original, hell even the "elves" are very different from what you'd expect elves to be - since when are they supposed to be the hulking physically superior race?
WoW's art, on the other hand, is extremely well-done, but it's not too hard to do a good job when you rely entirely on basic fantasy cliches. That dark elf lady who's on the cover of every other piece of WoW merchandise just pisses me off with how basic and uninspired she looks. That alone was the main reason I chose FFXI...
I won't even get into the difficulty thing, other than to say that once the novelty of the sophisticated style wore off, that was what kept me playing. I can't imagine a game where I could buy the equivalent of a Hauby after one or two "instances."

Theophany :
I can't see one of these threads in the first ten to twenty posts, so it's time for another one.
Why?
Because it's true.
A UI that looks like this cannot, in any way, be worse than the lack of a customizable, fully editable UI.
Oh, and FFXI is fucking slow. How long does it take to kill mobs? Six years? Right.
Plus you have to pay for each character after your first. We (WoW players) get 11 per server, and there are over 30 servers.
Anyway, I'm bored. I don't really care about your replies, since all of the cool FW people left (except for Abattoir).

Good job Theophany, a thread like this always needs to be on top.
Kibz needs a WoW mod that replaces models with Mithra and Moogles.
Ravenholm's sig kicks ass, ハードゲイ ftw.
My thread about why FFXI sucks in case you missed it: http://ffxi.killvoid.com/forums.php?m=posts&q=128611

If you want a challenge, appreciate the amout of work that went into what is still the best looking and most asthetically pleasing online game, and have some decent social skills play FFXI.
If you want instant gratification and to be buried in a sea of people that cannot type an entire 4 letter word. play WoW.
and if you look at the source of most modern fantasy which would be J.R.R. Tolkien's books. elves were Tall, lithe, deceptively strong and definantly the physically superior race. And I Definantly agree about the EQ mascot.. so white bread and uninteresting you might as well have substituted the cover of any supermarket checkout romance novel.
Except WoW's art isn't all that great IMO.. Very uninteresting and cliched also.

Yes WoW > FFXI ok, if thats what you think ok. But why, if WoW is so cool, are you still stuck on a FFXI forum?

Krystia :To me, the graphics were more cartoonish. My UI was cluttered with all the hotkeys I had to put up, while with FFXI I had my macros that were more useful and user-friendly. WoW Macros do not have a /wait command so I didn't have to have many since I mained a caster. With FFXI, I could change most of my gear with a simple command for my macro and do a series of commands. Oh, and how I said my UI was cluttered on WoW... It got worse with the bazillion mods that guild demand you to download.
Oh.. and I never experienced so many server crashes or bad lag with FFXI.. But I heard they changed some hardware so their Ironforge/Ogrimmar lag was similar to the (old) Jeuno's to where you can actually move than feel like you're moving like a robot.

You might want to try downloading some AddOns that help with clutter. Things like Discord Action Bars and Bongos (what I use) help clutter a lot.
This is my Rogue setup. Gee, lots of clutter, huh? What a horrible interface.
As far as lag, you might be better off playing FFXI if your computer was built in 1998. WoW was actually made for computers, so using your POS 1998 Dell won't really cut it.
Server crashes? In eight months of playing I've been through four server crashes; one on my first server, and three on the public test realms.

What else do I have to do when I'm flying somewhere in WoW? Unlike in FFXI, I can actually window out and not risk getting banned for it!
