Mining in the grotto

I am willing to admit that HQ items are a good way to make extra money as a high level. But they are also not guaranteed, and subject to other factors like days of the week, and maybe moon phases. I see only a few +1 items that sell with regularity at the AH: Bows, some rings, and Field armor. Maybe I just haven't been looking around that much, but I agree that the HQ items do help with the cost of crafting. People will still need money to fund their crafting if they are planning on going further, HQ items definately help.

That's what I mean. The higher your skill level, the more consistant the HQ synths are. Even if they depend on a day of the week or the moon phase, you still have a certain % higher chance of getting a HQ synth at a higher level then at a lower level.

Doomglazer: I suggest Zeruhn Mines or the low levels of Palburough Mines. If you can, level your job up a bit more to around 25 or 30 so that Yughott's Grotto opens up as an option to you. At levels 41+, Gusgen Mines becomes a nice place to mine. Since a LOT less monsters aggro you, there are a LOT more mining points that you can reach. After level 51+, I don't think any monster here will aggro you. Meaning you can go into the furthest depths of the caves safely.

As for Ifrit's cauldron...i'm not touching that with a 10 foot pole till I get Sneak/Invis as either a RDM or WHM.
