I just can't seem to keep enough money to keep my character equiped, so I need something that is going to make me at least a little cash off the bat(if possible). What tradeskill should I start with that wont cost me an arm and a leg and gains profit within in a short period of working up skill(probably not possible but thought I would ask).
-Also, im a level 30 samurai, any NMs or places I could farm for money?(I dont have thief sub)

Have you invested in gardening? It's a slow money maker yes, but it it is very steady and the ingredients are VERY easily obtained. Your only real expense is your flower pot and that is usually less than 1k, depending on your fame. Mind you some items sell higher than others but you can play around. Just remember to feed you plants. Gardening, a low maintanence way of getting gil. Good for covering chocobo costs.

I think most of the tradeskills do not gain you profit immediately.
Keep in mind that items made by lower level trade skills sell for very little, because anybody can make them if they choose to. You will probably lose money on chrystals nomatter what you do.
Try fishing, it gives you immediate profit.

People say cooking is not profitable.. and that is true... But I do make a good amount of gil from selling Insect Paste at AH. I started making insect paste at level 19. So you don't need a very high level to make them.
I buy all my Items for cooking Insect Paste in South San D’Oria because I find them cheaper there then anywhere else. You can buy Little Worms from Lusiane at loc F-8 for 3gil each. You can buy Distilled Water from Shilah in the Lion Springs Tavern at loc K-6 for 11gil each. If San D’Oria is in first place I know you can buy Million Corn from Benaige in the Raimbroy’s Grocery at loc E-7 for 44gil each. Fire Crystals cost around 300gil a stack.
That's about 83gil per stack and I sell them for 400gil a stack at AH. Thats 317gil profit. Plus they sell quickly in Windurst. I have to fill my AH almost every hour at times.
Not bad profit for such a low level cooking skill.
Good luck

All I can say is FISH. FISH FISH FISH. I've been fishing for just over three weeks and have easily pulled in over 100k worth of money. I've also poored alot in to it in the beginning, but hey... 12 moat carp = 4k and if you're good you can catch roughly 7 stacks in about 5 hours on a good day. Today I caught five stacks in two hours, very quick 20k gil.
The start of my quest for 310k gil for my Gluttony Sword.

Best way (Imo) to raise cash fast, is to do alot of things. Farming, crafting, and gardening brings me in some cash, but not that quick, although steady. Crafting is a tricky one though, i tend to LOSE alot of profit when it comes to that...
Farming in giddeus brings me grassthread (stack of that is 1k on diabolos), and I usually leave after 2 hours with abotu 5-6 stacks, as a thief you can steal silver beastcoins from higher yagudo, beehive chips, etc etc...all the while gardening items to sell (try growing 10 pots of fire crystals)
Just my thoughts. Money falls in my hands when i least expect it...
Quests also add quite a bit of money. make sure you increase your inventory. The reason is, if your like me, and can leave your system on all night...put up a bazaar and sell everything you've farmed for dirt cheap. Reason you sell it for dirt cheap, is that if they wanted it that badly, they would go to AH. Give them a reason to clean you out.
5k over night is my average.
Best of luck. My techniques are pretty slow, I understand...but keep em in mind

Crafting is a good way to make gil, but really the only profit is off of +1 items

You keep thinking that:) I'll just make the base materials needed to make these items so you can try to make +1s out of it and get rich off of you
