You know.... It's a small percentage that play who are racist, ethno/xenocentric.
Yes the culture itself has a certain attitued towards outsiders but its really not the case with FFXI.

The truth is quite simply you dont speak Japanese and they dont speak english very well.
And here is the kicker. It's not about being able to speak either or. Its about being literate in both.

It's much easier for them and less time constraining to stick with people who are literate in their same language.

I speak Japanese and am fairly literate in it as well. I have asked many japanese players who I find to be good people to socialize with "in game" and thats the answer they always give.

and if you think the JP hate NA/EU try asking them how they feel about CHN. Now that is hatred.

When I went to Japan, I learned a great many things.

First and formost, Japanese girls are the most gullible bitches on earth. I told a Japanese girl that a friend of mine was a cousin of Ricky Martin and she took it hook, line, and condom. Secondly, the older generations (30 years old and older) hate Americans, but the vast majority of the younger generations love Americans, anything that is American, and they love to party (as in get fucked up). For example, a pair of Levi Jeans will easily go for the equivalent of 200 USD or higher. Oh and the clothing style there is more or less stuck in the 80's.

Considering the vast majority of games I like are from Japan, the anime I view is from Japan and Asian women are hot...I can't really bash them. I admit, it pisses me off sometimes when a JP in-game will turn down a party invite which I get a lot...but from their point of view, you can understand. Most think they just hate NA players but for the most part, they just don't like to deal with the language barrier. I know in instances where I've been invited to all JP parties, the exp would be great sure but with no one to really talk to, the parties tend to get boring. So I can relate. Basically, you just have to accept those differences in people and move on.

It pretty much boils down to what we are taught in our country. Americans and most EU countries are taught that "Everyone is equal, love every race as if they're your goddamned brothers" by our controlled medias. It shows so much just on a game like FFXI when you are looking at the players that are LFP- hmm let's look at the Japanese players-

All have "J" selected as their language, makes sense. Unless they're on a job like DRG or it's very late Japanese time, many put "JP Onry" in their seacom, and all Japanese language characters that can't be read by other languages.

As for English players- Why do all of you have "JE" selected as your language? Can you even speak 5 words of Japanese? Pretty much every seacom, regardless of job, time of the day, will have JP/US/EU OK! followed by COUNTLESS Auto-translate phrases.

Go ahead and share your stories about "Omg I got invited to a JP party and they were liek so nice to mee and we got liek 200 million xp per hour!!!!!111!!1111!" or how you "Understand" their culture w/e, the Japanese continue to discriminate us and our language on this game- regardless of how much you NA's kiss their ass. The only way to stop this really is seperate servers. Doesn't even have to be for different countries for God's sake.. just different languages would do. Since SE won't do anything like that apparently, we as reps for our language need to stop kissing ass and stop taking this bullshit from the Japanese.
