Thanks everyone
I have just written up a big long update in my video blog which can be found here, here and here.
Go read it because it says all about recent goings on with the movie plus a few funny pictures.
There is another thing I wanted to speak about! and that is about an audio commentary for the movie after it has been released.
Flik's been watching his Family Guy season 5 DVD just recently which has audio commenteries for each episode and he suggested we do the same for this movie a while after its been released and then release that as a seperate video to watch.
You'll have the pleasure of listening to my English accent and Fliks Scottish accent (no Mort, sorry) while we discuss what we thought about the video while watching it through ourselves.
Let me know if you would like us to do that or not~

No Mort because he lacks the working mic (and is too cheap/shy to buy a new one) and he also wouldnt have a great deal to say considering he isnt part of the production of the video, but I'll pester him to be a part of it as well~

I think a video commentary would be neat. I sometimes wonder how a particular scene was done, how hard it was to get certain elements just right, what was the craziest/hardest/easiest/turned out the best part of the videos were. Stuff like that. I think having you both go through and maybe seeing what Flik originally envisioned happening versus what actually happened would be a great idea! How Apol managed to overcome certain obstacles, and how pleased they were with the overall result of a scene. I know you both talked about how you wish you could have added more into the Aht Urhgan video, and maybe in the audio commentary (for this movie) if you have things like that you could expand upon it. ("Oh, here we wanted to talk about but we ran out of time." perhaps adding in "here's what we would have done...")
So overall, this Tarutaru approves of your decision :yes
Plus, getting to listen to British (and Scottish, Flik, so you don't feel left out) accents is always a plus in my book! :love

A commentary would be awesome, like Remasa said, just to get the thought processes of the production.

Hurrah!
The first half of the video is done and dusted and sitting on my desktop waiting to be uploaded in december when the second half is also finished.
I'm pleased with how the first half looks and I'm pretty confident that you all will like it as well.
Me and Flik have also had a few scattered talks about possible ideas for the next project after this movie.
It's going to be difficult to make another How To because of the lack of content thats coming out in the near future so we are currently looking at diffrent directions to take our videos.
Obviously they will still be the same type of comedy with the same characters (probably a few new ones) and the basic ideas we have so far could have some promise.
I'll let you all know when we start coming up with more solid ideas~

I've lived in London all my life so an English accent is not going to sound too unfamiliar to me, but I think it's a good idea lol

I had the wonderful opportunity to preview the first half of the How To: Movie to be a type of gerbil or guinea pig for test purposes. They desired an outside opinion of their near-finalized product, and I was the closest Tarutaru. As a thank you for this, I agreed to post a review sans spoilers of what I saw, so here it is.
Overall, the first half was amazing. It was 31+ minutes long, and Flik and Apol assure me the final product would most likely be double that. Okay, onto some different parts.
Visual Editing: The quality of editing, utilization of different camera angles, new techniques, and timing of events was superb! I was very impressed. What Aht Urghan hinted at, this movie takes that several steps further and the end result is wonderful! The “opening credits” part was one of my favorite things to watch, and the timing, character models, and background for each of the scenes amazed me. I’m not a visual/media arts person, so I cannot really comment on the technical aspects of this, I can only comment on how the overall visuals look. They are very aesthetically pleasing!
Apol has done an amazing job with this aspect of the film. His “green screen” utilization is more abundant in this video and I loved all the parts it was used in. You can tell he spent a lot of time and effort into learning the program, working with the various scenes, and editing them until they look almost flawless. Brilliant job, Apol! =)
Plot: I watched the chocobo breeding part, which progresses much like the typical “How to:” videos in the past. However, from the very beginning, there is an underlying plot that is introduced and brought up again later. I was curious as to how this would be pulled off… if they were going to do a “chocobo breeding” part and then progress to the plot, or if they were going to incorporate everything together. It is the latter. I can’t really say much more on this in part because I don’t know what’s going to happen, but the tail end of the chocobo breeding part leads into what I would assume to be the plot of the remainder of the movie.
Sound: The cute, happy, “quirky” (not my word!) music of the chocobo breeding narration is present and enhances the material they are presenting. The sound clips change continuously through different parts of the video (much like they did in the past two videos) and the music selection in each of those scenes wonderfully supplements the action, either intensifying (usually) or foreshadowing or action-ifying (is that even a word?) that particular scene.
Script: Script sucked, Flik wrote it. J/k! Jk! Don’t break my kneecaps! *whimpers* Anyway, script was awesome, had the usual parodies and jokes you guys all know and love, plus some new material. It is quite possible some of this new stuff might be recurring jokes in future videos. In some ways, I feel sorry for these two… Apol able to use new techniques (such as the green screen) and Flik jumping on that opportunity in an instant, most likely setting up impossible scenarios for Apol to try and work with. Oh well, they’re Hume anyway. It’s pretty neat to see how Flik envisions something and to see how Apol translates that to the screen. In this aspect, Apol’s ever-expanding media arts knowledge comes in handy, because certain scenes I couldn’t see Apol being able to do for videos even such as the “How to: Survive an ‘Adjustment’.” He might have, who knows, but the script has been now written to open up new ideas and various screen actions not present in past videos.
Uh, I think that’s all the aspects of the video that I can cover? Let me know if there is another broad general area that you want me to review. As I said earlier, overall, this video was amazing to watch. It isn’t 100% finalized yet (more like 99%), there are some minor errors that have been addressed (It’s spelled “color” and “armor”…get it right!)
Thank you!

Wow, I was kidding when I demanded a 1000 word review >_>
Thanks alot Renee, your review makes my ego very happy~
You're quite right when you say about Flik jumping on the opportunity to add harder and more intresting scenes into the script, I swear he thinks 'hmm, what type of scene can I make to give him the most trouble' but I enjoy the challenge~
I'm going to be finishing the errors and such after I finish writing this post and then on to planning the second half and hopefully starting filming on that by the end of the week/early next week.
PS. It's coloUr and armoUr! useless Americans! learn to spell the language propa like!

Because he is yet to sleep with a moderator. I suggested the one from Alexander, I forget his name. Likes Pandas and Dragoons. They'd get on well together. But there you go.
Apparently I've to post again despite only wanting to have 1 post here ever, so I will. I suppose I should thank Renee for that mini review a few posts up, your knee caps are safe - for now (until I can find them) and all the interest in this thread despite us taking so long. I should point out it is not my fault it is taking so long and it'll be a miricle if we finish it this year.
Oh, and yeah I write harder stuff now because of all the fancy things Apol can do with Vegas. Some stuff is still beyond him though and the intro we have is actually second choice. The one I wanted was 'too hard'. We have had a lot of help from... forgoten her name (this is why I should not post). A great .dat maker from Alexander who is helping make it a lot easier to do funny family guy-esque sketches.
My favourite sketch from the first half is one we changed at the last minute thanks to a .dat from that person so very glad Apol showed me her work. I suppose if we do a commentary we'd drone on more about that sort of thing, and if any of you should see Mort running around I suggest bugging him to join in. He assures me that he walks and talks like Jack Sparrow*.
*may or may not be a lie on my part.
