But yeah.. anime has been getting lame over the past few years, it's either a bunch of rehashed crap trying to bite off classics, or just plain, uninteresting. Nothing will compare to classics like Rurouni Kenshin, Escaflowne, Tenchi Muyo, Fushigi Yuugi, or Evangelion.

I haven't watched anime in ages, I liked the more commonly known stuff way back like ghost in the shell, vampire hunter D, bubblegum crisis, Akira, Dirty Pair, etc.
My standards are too high for anime nowadays, background art+ ambient animation is lacking, animation isn't fluid enough, and its got to have lesbians in it that look over 21.

Anime annoys me lately because it's the same old tired shit that I used to love but now can't stand.

The nerd who gets a nose bleed because for some reason this surprisingly hot chick has eyes for him and only him.

Broads beating the shit out of a guy who can kill a man just by blinking.

HOBBY ANIME. For the love of fucking god I can't stand hobby anime anymore. When I was younger I loved Pokemon. As I got older Yu Gi Oh seemed tolerable. And heck, the card game was fun for the duration I played. But Beyblade? Come on. Tops that have a mind of their own? Daigunder? Robots that battle with kids as their trainers? Spider Riders? SPIDER RIDERS!? Fuck anime.

Don't get me wrong, there is some anime I hold dear in my heart. Tenchi, Kenshin, Pokemon(I can't really justify this). And then there's some stuff I recently got into: Samurai Champloo, Full Metal Alchemist, fucking Naruto. I love that show. And when it comes to my drawing, the anime influence is obviously there, but outside of those, the rest I feel as if I've seen it before.

So basically it's exactly like what Anamanagucci just said, except with alot more rambling. :[

Anime is like every art form: the bulk is garbage, and the ones that shine vary on levels of entertainment and insight. I think its silly to go the "all hype" route, while grouping some of the more atistic (beyond the purty pictues) parts in there, but shrug, to each their own.

I also never watched Anime untill recently a bit, when my gilrfriend semi-forced me to watch Wolfsrain ( or something) with her, and I have to admit that four episodes I've seen of it, seems good. In Finland there's not much at all anime on TV. Just some kiddie stuff like Pokemon, DBZ ( I actually like DBZ; it's addicting! ;D I must be the only person I know that actually likes it) etc.

Also I've seen Ghost in the Shell movie and that's all the anime I've seen. I'm definatly keeping an open mind on this and I'd like to see more as long as it's good.
