Or you could delve even deeper and look at the root causes of crime, society, whether society has made economic conditions unfavourable to the person which has driven them to crime or society has failed to take care of a person who is mentally ill or has a drug addiction.

Here's an idea for everyone... instead of trying to blame your problems on someone or something else take some fucking responsiblity. It pisses me off when you hear people blame something on everything but themselves. In a lot of these cases if someone took responsiblity and did their job properly, whatever that may entail, the crime could be prevented or at least the signs would be noticed before it happened and something could be done.

Very rarely in our society do we witness truly "random" crime.

It's horribly sickening, as a parent with a schoolage child, it's very scarey. At any given moment any person can snap under the right conditions, prooves how fragile the human mind is. And it doesn't help that some half hearted attempt to create some attention disorder to force children to be zombies just because their teachers are to lazy to actually teach, adhd has never been prooven conclusively, then they force feed children medication not made for children, and they stand back and wonder why they are all fucked up as teenagers and adults.

Violent behavoir has always been a part of the human world, only seems like more recently , because we have more ways to record it. We aren't as civilized as we think. We have a long way to go when it comes to understanding the human mind.

Wasn't there a southpark episode on this where eventually no one could trust anyone because of stuff like this. Yea, all I can say is that it ended horribly.

Palo_Asura :
Eminem and Marylin Manson have about 67 pending cases afer this past week. Sadistic nature has been ongoing for centuries; blaming outlet resources are scapegoats for the stupid. Homocide, Rape, Suicide, and Genocide have been reoccuring themes before television. The only existing difference is the more speedy means to such ends, but that in itself is not reason enough to halt progress--blame the criminal and his fucked up mine, not some blood or boobs flashing in media.

Yes, it's horrendous.

Some people have the capacity to understand what is real and what isnt. But when you flash things such as naked girls, money, cars, starbucks, and other things of that sort in front of people over and over again, it sways the thoughts of the people watching. Companies pay people millions of dollars to change what people think through television. In the next few years youll see an example as a few things are about to be inevitably phased out very soon, and the only way I can see how is to make it trendy not to use said item. But yeah in the end its the persons fault. Sitting your kid in front of the Tv instead of helping PBS raise them has been shown to cause the widespread ADD we have in the US today >.>. As for the guy who did this, everyone championing his death is almost a metaphor for our modern society. Eye for an eye is as barbaric as killing a bunch of kids. I think he killed himself anyway. "All composite things pass away. Strive for your own salvation with diligence."

People snap all the time there is no denying it. But most of us who have been brought up by responsible parents and a responsible social setting know not to go out and shoot people. There is always a root cause that can be easily prevented if parents were willing to take responsiblity for their children. Don't load them up on drugs, don't sit them in front of the TV for parenting do your part.

To a killer who has already been fucked up by whatever the root cause is... the victim has no distinct difference whether its a child or an old man or a fat person or a loud person.

@Rorri: Don't get so scared over a random shooting. Your kid is statisically more likely (500 times or something?) to die in a pool than any shooting

to answer the topic question: if you seriously have to ask that (as well as make long wall o'texts about the evils of society) you havent lived on this earth for very long.

my family keeps telling me to watch/read the news to see whats goin on in the world but why bother i alrdy know the main stories: some retard did something to another retard and pissed off more retards which i have to hear bitch about every day as i walk my college halls.

"the war is a fraud!!!!" yeah like its the first time we went to war over some bullshit. wasnt the first, certainly wont be the last.

"drive out the bush regime! resist or die! the world cant wait!" blah blah fucking blah. go shed an emo tear. the world survived the romans, khan, hitler, and ghandi (all of which did worse stuff than bush, yes even ghandi. ever see an old man walk around in a diaper? it aint pretty) i think the world can take a texan retard (no not redneck, rednecks have higher standards) that has only a few remaining years left in office. its his second term fucktards, he is out of office after this; let it go. honestly, its because of asshats like these that i can see where the world gets the "big brother" idea about the USA. why cant we go back to an isolationist doctrine? let the world solve its own damn problems we got enough with these pussies having the balls to declare that they speak for the people. speak for the people...yeah and britney spears isnt a slut.

"walk outs to protest the government" sleep.gif all you got to do is piss off an asshole (like me), and then s/he can just call cops and say your disturbing the peace then watch and hope for the riot squads to appear.

"what is wrong with people? why do they do such evil things?" why? you wanna know why? is it because of desensitization caused by all the violence and sex on tv? NO. is it because of video games and music? NO. is it because of rap music? well im a cracker myself but the real answer is...NO. is it because of the government? NO. is it because you got fucktard parents that will let a kid (talking 13 and under) play a mature rated game like GTA:SA + hot coffee but not watch a cartoon like ninja turtles because of its violence? sort of but in the end...NO.

the real reason we do sick things that we do...its cause we are human. animals domesticated by our culture (and if you dont know or deny what that entails, you will learn soon enough...often enough by the hard way). you want peace on this planet? get rid of humanity, and until the day comes when something makes that happen; sit back, grab a beer, and enjoy the chaos...you think im kidding?

well let me give you an example. after katrina, there was a photo on the front page of my local newspaper. the photo showed a rescue chopper hovering above a crowd on top of a flooded building. one of the airman was handing out food, and just to the right of him was a man (he was white fyi) holding a shotgun pointed directly at the the chopper. and you know what? when i saw that photo i just started laughing uncontrollably. hell im laughing right now thinking about it. im sure we all know that shooting down a rescue chopper into polluted, flowing waters is the best way to score food in a time of need, right?

PS - the ghandi part is a joke. unclench your tight collective asses

PSS - shouldnt this be in the Grandma is Dead forum?

as for the IP addresses and shoes thing? i got no freaking clue, its the interweb; it has no sanity...and for that matter neither do i or else i wouldnt be posting here..../shrugs and floats away

Humanity is capable of a level of thought beyond evolution Knyte. The fact that our society keeps us animals is a sad reality. Embrace your primal instincts, and the small petty rewards it brings you. The minority that breaks the biological shackles around their ankles will keep the ball rolling for everyone else. We are in the end a variety of primate that thinks too much of ourselves, but mentally we have the capacity to go beyond that, but the small rewards are so tempting to most.

We are in the end a variety of primate that thinks too much of ourselves, but mentally we have the capacity to go beyond that, but the small rewards are so tempting to most.

In other words, we could be more, but most of us choose not to.

The thing is, in our modern world we have advanced technologies but they don't really solve the fundamental problems. Humans inevitably suffer from the same basic problems at their core that they have always suffered, only now you're bombarded from all sides. My classic example is things like PDAs, cell phones, and e-mail. Originally, these items were invented to make our lives easier and better. Now, however...

E-mail keeps us in touch, allowing people to work on the plane, work at home, work while waiting for your kids to get out of school. E-mail spam just drives everyone crazy. Cell phones mean you're never very far out of reach--again, on the plane, at home, while waiting for your kids to get out of school. Cell phone noise pollution has created new social problems we have to deal with. And on and on. I've seen it happen so many times--tools that were meant to make work easier and relieve pressure and stress have been manipulated into things that make us work longer and harder, which increases stress and fatigue.

I don't know what this particular guy's issue is, and I'm not condoning at all what he's done. Killing innocent people is wrong and to hell to anyone who can't or won't realize that. I'm just expounding and saying in our modern world, we are surrounded by pressure. We should all take a few moments every day to just relax and slow down.

And to Rorri: ADD is a very real illness in both adults and kids. I've been witness to both. I've seen the difference in behavior of a child or adult who is taking medication or is not. One is a real handful to deal with--the other is more like a "normal" child. One of my friends has a child diagnosed with ADD; I love the kid, but when he goes too long without his medication, everyone knows it.

Edit: I claim page tew in the name of sane people everywhere! ... Hey, where is everybody?

I'm friends with some parents who had a child whose teacher believed the child was too much to handle and had ADD.

Well the school agreed and he got some drugs to help him with his ADD. The parents called bullshit and did not give him the pills.

The teacher noted before the pills that the child was hyper, hard to control etc. After the parents "gave the pills" the teacher noted an improvement behaviour of the child.

This despite the fact that the child never had a single pill but instead packed suger pills into the lunch to make the teacher think he was taking the ADD pills.

At the end of the year teacher-parent interviews the parents told the teacher what they had been doing and the teacher told them to get out.

This kid Brandon I skate with has ADD. He can sit down with us and talk with us like a normal person with the help of his medication. When he doesnt take it, he is unbearable to be around. You can tell the difference. If there was a pill to make you lose weight youd take it. If there was one to be more athletic, boost your IQ, make you fly, youd take it. Why not take something that helps you control yourself so everyone can see you the way you see yourself?

There is nothing wrong with the ADD for those that have it. The problem is the abuse of the diagnosis to take a person or child that is not compliant enough for the teacher or anyone taste and giving them the drugs when they do not truely have the medical condition. We have become a society that is for better lives threw medication. Ever wonder why drug costs for the health insurance industry in America go up by obscene amounts every year? The answere is simple really. People see adds for the drugs and decide that the minor symptom that went unnoticed is a huge enough issue to even change doctors till they get the perscription for that drug. Personally making people away of the symptoms for the illnesses that are serious but to market ED medication and the equivilant for wemon, perscription alergy medication etc to the masses is not a good idea. If you want your drug to be the one perscribed convince the doctors that yours is the medicine of choice to treat the ailment. Then at least those that need it will get it not everyone that might have had a symtpon the think. All the adds do is help people know what to tell the doctor to get the drug.

Self augmentation through medication is the future of human evolution. I agree that doctors are quick to diagnose ADD, and often times it was just a bad kid, but seriously. When someone has ADD youll know it. People who argue against it most likely don't know someone with the disorder, and If they do, they have never seen the person both on and off the medication.
