Which sub to lvl? RNG or NIN

Hellllo there KI,
Just a quick question for all you SAM. I'm 60SAM and sub 38WAR or 37THF. I was thinking of lvling another sub before I do my limit. I'm thinking either RNG or NIN. Don't have thatt much money now that i just bought haurby. ^^ Soo I'll probably only lvl one for now. Both are around 20ish so if i lvled RNG i would have NIN to sub. What do you think is more important/handy for your main as SAM for now? I will have them both lvled before 75 but ima just wondering which one to start with. biggrin.gif
Orrr on the other hand should i just not worry about lvling either? With the new update and everything should i just stick with /WAR,THF? Ahhh who knows lol. Just leave me some nice words of advise and it will be greatly appretiated :] Thank you!

You won't have no need for /nin til around 72+, so I'll go with /rng.

In this case I'd say it's up to you as long as you level them both. I can pretty much guarantee that you'll never be asked to sub RNG, and /NIN will help you solo many many wonderful things soooo, I'd say /NIN first for your own benefit.

The issue of SAM/NIN: You sub NIN to reduce the damage you take, but then you don't do as much damage because /NIN is gimp for 2 handers, so you don't pull hate, and therefore you wouldn't take any damage anyway.

It's good for random questiong/wandering though.

I'd do RNG If I were you, especially with the forthcoming update. But learn how to play it, it's more work than the other subs.

With consideration to the impending update, if the new "stances" really work the way I think they do, the usefulness of /NIN will diminish considerably when used in EXP parties. Ironically, subbing NIN in exp tends to lessen a SAMs damage to the point where they won't pull hate anyways... kind of ironic. Perhaps the attack stance will give sam/nin a boost though, we'll have to wait and see.

/NIN would still be great for soloing though.

/RNG is alot of fun, and might be a realistic sub-job after this update, even without a soboro sukehiro. Plan on taking hate for a bit if you want to use sidewinder.

It's all subjective though, just get the facts about each sub, and decide from there. If you're looking for opinions, I'd go with /rng first because I think it's more fun.

level /nin. /rng is very situational and takes a lot of different gear to be useful. I have war nin thf drg all up to cap and use the same gear for all of them.

Which sub not to lvl?

MNK, RDM, BRD, BST, BLU, COR, PUP, PLD, SMN.

You should have everything else leveled.

WHM for the occasional Stoneskin request.
BLM for Warp.
WAR duh.
THF duh.
DRK for the occasional Stun request.
DRG for the jumping jacks.
NIN duh.
RNG duh.

I hate to harsh everyone's october update buzz, but no one has even seen the new stances in action yet, I still think the usefulness of /nin will still be pretty high.

Sure, I'll use it exactly as much as I did before... to get the Ulegeurand Range ENM Trigger without spending powders.

/NIN is great for meriting and I can still steal hate off the NINs and WARs with it in a melee burn.

Otherwise, /NIN isn't so great of a sub.

Get /THF and /WAR and you are set for life really.

And it's really absurd how everyone is saying the update will make /NIN obsolete when we have no friggin idea if the update would amount to anything it is like on paper.

People seem to forget that SE is like a politician: Lots of promises with very few, if any, of them becoming reality.

I use /nin for:
- dynamis: I pull lots of hate by just weaponskilling, so shadows are good to have. I'd rather have 6 shadows I know I can count on rather than a third eye that might or might not be used up.
- merit melee burn: it nerfs my damage sure, but that's the point. if I /war I can hit harder and more often, but then I'm just a huge MP sponge for the healer and that leads to downtime. stuff you fight in these situations don't live too long anyway.
- quests/coffers/helping people
- some HNMs. gods I go /thf, ground kings I go /war for voke - but for jormungand I go /nin since being /thf is pointless, and /nin helps to absorb some of the AoE and also as previously mentioned: tonko is cheaper than prisms.

If you have, or can get a Soboro, and like being busy in your PT, go with /rng.
I never used /nin outside of solo'ing so far.

Anyone who says /NIN isn't necessary in a merit party obviously isn't pulling their weight in the damage department.

Huh? What was hard to understand about that?
He just said that if you don't see the need for shadows, you don't do enough damage.
