Anyone who says /NIN isn't necessary in a merit party obviously isn't pulling their weight in the damage department.

Let's see, when subbing /war I just don't WS right at start if the only healers are a BRD+RDMorWHM.
When subbing /thf I SATA either the tank or someone else with Shadows.
When subbing /rng I just go WAR/NIN SAM/RNGx2 BRD RDM WHM and can Sidewinder whenever I want without fearing to die or eventually running out of MP.
So if you really need shadows, then either you, or your healers don't do their work properly.

Jesus you're totally right. I'll sub WAR all the time and when I die it's everyone else's fault. Or maybe my mages will "do their job right" and just burn their all their MP just for me. XP chains are for fags.

If you manage to die frequently as /war, then you're not thinking, or your other DDs suck. Period. SAM is not MNK, our raw DoT isn't incredibly high by default, and it's a job that is actually quite easy to maintain a level of control over your hate with.

While neither nin nor rng are *cheap at any level the are NOT as hugely expensive as people make them out to be before level ~40, i.e. when ninja starts spamming shadows and the elemental wheel, and ranger switches to the really pricy ammo.
That is, if you have not already quested and sold your ichi scrolls. If you did um.. yeah, you need to buy them again. Which costs a bit.
In fact i soloed ninja to 25 on a profit with silk and bee chips. At around 22 solo you kinda have to switch to crabs which dont give money. Oh yeah, that might also be a consitaruation, depending on what you like: taru nin/rdm can solo EM and T for chain 2 up to level 30 and survive a VT Dancing weapon with a bit of luck. (is as far as i got so far, so cannot say about furtharu)
So if you get them to subjob level it is affordable.
That all said um.. depends on your playstyle which one you do first

Onoz, I forgot 5 levels will increase my damage by 10k.
Too lazy to level it, don't feel like bothering with retards at that level either.
Rarely ever use it and most of the time just stick to /war or /rng. :3
Wasn't even playing at that time or I'd have been /war up there.

Oh yeah, remember you running around in full JSE from I don't know when, and other retarded "melee" gear on your SAM, should try fixing that before picking on marginal stats.
