So i have a gripe with the term "EMO". There are somehow several different definitions of "EMO" but only two I know of. one is the term that sad, depressed, naive, teenage boys with bad haircuts who from now on I will refer to as FAG instead of EMO beause thats what they are. The other definition refers to "EMO music". This term pisses the fuck out of me. Why? Because it degrades some pretty good music by associating it with FAGs. For those of you that don't know what EMO stands for, its the EMO in "emotional". FAGs often tend to say lines like "oh i'm so EMO /wrists" or "The music i listen to is so EMO" FUCK YOU! How dare you call it that! I'm sick of hearing some of my favorite bands be called EMO like:
Fall out Boy
Panic! at the Disco
and among others COHEED AND MUTHA FUCKIN CAMBRIA
whoever the fuck decided to call Coheed and Cambria EMO, i will hunt u down and fuck your skull.
please leave your gay sissy crybaby little term to yourselves and go slit your writsts already.
And if I pissed any of you FAGs off I want you to flame me back.
flame me good and hard with your deep words and your gay little poetry!
do it!
FAGs!
@ EMO

I don't listen to the radio. Not to mention, where do you think the radio gets their songs? I'll give you a hint. Starts with C, ends with D.

people often judge a band based on what the song they hear on the radio
sometimes radio and mainstream media pick songs that arent the best from the cd to play on air

Panic is emo in the sense that they do every single thing for attention. If you dont believe me, look at their videos and look up their lyrics.

I honestly cant think of another genre that would fit Panic! into it without destroying the natural order besides Emo. I dont really think they'd care what you'd call them, because they're still expressing their "art" and being "themselves" while still making tons of cashhhhhhh.
Edit: Ok, I found a genre: Scene. It's kind of like emo, except they just imitate the emo fashions. No real emotion and sadness is found within it.

Panic! At the Disco isn't emo, they're classified as alt rock.
I listened to them before they were cool.
Like when I lived in California we'd go to Vegas and watch them play small venues and then they'd hang out with us. The songs are written by an introvert and sung by an extrovert, which gives them the excited tone of voice while still having some pretty emo lyrics. Panic! are actually really nice people though.
FOB is like...something. Not emo, but they're definately close.
Coheed and Cambria aren't even close to emo. They're just rock. What the fuck happened to being just normal rock music?

I can't tell you what C+C is, but I can tell you what it isn't; and what it isn't is rock. Then again, the term "Rock" is thrown around so loosely now I suppose just about anything could pass as "Rock"

"Pop-Rock" I could understand, especially for Fall out Boy.
I'd say Coheed is rock.
