It's cute how there have been 27 votes on this, and no one has actually commented on the main question on the thread.

As it stands I wouldn't RMT my character when I quit, but I'm sure if I left the game in an irate mood that could change.

I'd sell it, and the person who buys it will probably make more gil than I ever did and sell the gil to make more money than I'll ever have.

...maybe I should consider renting out my character instead.

Hell i'd sell it why not? >.> some people sell their games when they're done with it and are bored so why not sell my account its either delete it or make a quick $300 or whatever.

To be perfectly honest, sure the money that could be made from my toon would be dandy, but the fact being that i've used an abused this name, this character for the past..what? dawning on 4yrs now? ...I don't think I could sell it and have someone else being "me."

Virtual or not, each person that has a character is that person to a extent, you are known by that name you chose. When you talk to someone, you aren't talking to a npc, you are talking to someone somewhere in the world.

So, as much as the money would be great, I just don't think I could.
Too much of 'me' behind it.
