Day 19. it stayed sensitive. possibly locks before day 19, i don't know. the odd thing is that it has been perky for three days in a row. it's been perky for 6/19 days at this point. *scratches head*

if anyone else has some corresponding data for both zegham carrots and vomp carrots giving a -tiny- difference in the two stats they should raise please let me know.
Mine jumped around like that also as I said previously. I feed mine zegham carrots also. My bird is Enigmatic. Both mental skills are A bit dificient now but Discernment got there just today. Receptivity was already there so my receptivity is a little ahead of my discernment.

As a chick all I ever really fed my chocobo was Gyshal greens and kept her on a basic care plan. Infact I didn't even give my chocobo so much as a sandy carrot or anyother type or chocofood (except for wildgrass when she got sick) until her youth. The day she turned to a youth she had a patient personality while all stats are poor. The thing that doesn't add up here is that patient should have been the last personality for her to obtain according to what you say for the food stats. Maybe mine glitched?
Also Gyshal greens raise affection, and I was thinking that maybe since easy going personalities "makes your chocobo easy to care for" it is an affection based personality over a default one? It would make sense if you read what the VCS NPCs have to say about stats and personalities.

ok. thanks finway. o.o
i'm going to assume that your egg wasn't bred then. If what you are saying is true it means two things: SanD carrots do something that needs testing (i've never tested it personally yet. my chocos have been mental based and i get my information on physical chocos from other people) because my hypothesis on them was wrong -or- it's true that an egg that is not bred might already have random stats that are tiny bit higher than others. also wildgrass i've only tested toko grass, if you used gausbit or that other kind. it's possible to lower Str instead of endurance.
"Easy going" is the default. the "no personality" thing doesn't exist now after the update. i'd assume a lot of people where complaining because they felt left out from not having one so they put one in so people would feel more positive about their chocobo. and yes, i'd assume that greens also do raise affection but i haven't collected data on that -yet-. but if you want to raise a new chocobo anytime soon i can give you a regime to follow for it to test that type of thing out. o.o
same goes for anyone who reads this: if you'd like to help out in proving or disproving the outline theory and basis, i'd be happy to get some guenia pigs~ (you'd say what you wanted, i'd give you a diet and care plan and if it does or does not turn out like you want it would be the thing)

well i have something but i think u already covered it. My old(first) chocobo breed with a random female who the owner said had ok strengh. so i put them on a food date plan and got a fairly warm egg(i think)
so after it hatched all stats were poor and i fed it on carrrot paste along with one walk and a couple watch overs. the nest day i found out that it had Strengh substandard after one walk thourgh town and ill tempered personality. i kept it carrot paste and walk care plan with 1-2 days of listening to music, also with one toko grass and one gausebit grass when it was injured. When it became a teen it had black tail/head faethers and Strengh was still substanard and all stats poor. I always thought that walk through town raised both Str and End but since End was still poor i was confused. After one day of Carrying packages its End reached substanard and Str stayed same. ive been feeding it vomp carrots also.
well even though thats alot of writing i beileve it supports some of your theories like medical greens raised my Dis and lowered End but with Vomp carrots lowered Dis leaving Str as a dominant stat. well now all thats left is hope it stays black ^^

day 22- discernment rises to 'Bit Deficient'... so I did raise discernement when i binged it and had it eat 5x herb pastes on day 18... however. its personality was still locked on sensitive when it was a chick the day before it became a youth:
Choco personalities are locked on day 18.
Choco personalities are locked on day 18.

All I can do is confirm what's already been stated. Around day 5-6 my chick developed an ill-tempered personality. I have been feeding her carrot paste, taking her on walks, and having the stable take her on walks around town. Day 10-11 she developed substandard strength.

that is testably and makes perfect sense, actually. i originally polled a lot of chocos on alexander when it came out and of the.. 70 chocos i asked personality on... the personalities where in the order:
1 nothing
2 Ill tempered
3 sensitive
4 patient
5 enigmatic
if the carrots make one stat higher than others, it'd work perfectly... and explain why my choco ended up not being enigmatic. ; ;

odd i feed my choco only vomp carrots and took it only on walks. it is on day 9 and has substandard endurance and a patient personality.

was it bred or bought/isnm/quested?
if bred with sports plan.. then that'd explain that. if not. then there's still the unknown factor "does a bought/ISNM/quested egg start with basic stats in the first place like a bred egg, simply a smaller quantity"
i have a couple people helping me experiment with chocos... but... not nearly enough. if you have any mules, even without a choco license, and would be willing to help out.... it would be highly appreciated. otherwiiiise~ it'll be a while till i come up with some numbers on how plans and food effect chocos to a measurable extent >.o

I would be happy to help. I've been updating what i've done in the choco raising thread, so you can check that out if you like.
I also have a mule, and i can get a purchased egg with it. What sort of care plan do you want me to undertake? also what sort of egg should i buy?

Silightly warm egg. 100% basic care. and either 100% herb, vegetable, carrot, or worm paste. (pick one type of paste only)
even if it's sick no other food except what the chosen particular kind. no other care plans after it hatches except basic care. then check every day after hatching (after feeding all three as it can change to Substandard the same time you feed it) as soon as it hits substandard report back. make sure you feed it the same amount every day... and if you don't please note it. also if it is perky at any point of time also note that.

just make sure you feed it the same quantity of paste daily (like a set amount of 3, 4, 5 paste a day). if not a set amount then keep track of exactly how many pastes you feed it until it becomes substandard in anything.

My main's choco, today on day 10, gained substandard STR. Now she has sub. edurance and str, as well as a patient persona. I again fed her 3 vomp carrots as well as took her for 3 walks.
My mules bought egg was presented yesterday @ 6:00 pm est.

I have a question... is it actually possibly to raise your chics stats past poor? I was told you can only begin at teen stage

sure you can raise a "poor" choco, basic care and conflicting food would do it.

yes- my second choco became substandard on... day... 17 or 18 i think. i don't remember exactly but it was substandard before young adult. it was also perky 5 times and the update kicked in on day 15. if you breed a choco the correct plan and get lucky... sky might be the limit for chick stats before young adult. but an egg from scratch - yes it is possible for it to be substandard if not 'bit deficient' if you'd get extremely lucky.
