Hey this is a thread to all the players that's going to join Phantasy Star Universe when it comes out on Oct. 24.
Since there's no guild system, me and my other FFXI friend wanted to start our own MSN based guild/Linkshell for PSU. I'm a FFXI veteran with no knowledge of PSO at all, so I posted this message here due to the fact that the other FFXI players like us would see it.
The guild will be about a small group of casual players making a fresh start, and willing to work together to level faster, make more money, and have more fun, and overall make a smooth transition from their previous MMO to PSU.
Any FFXI or PSO players interested can add me to their MSN at regalx @ hotmail .com (without the spaces).
I don't think we'll need a website since PSO-World already provided a Team Meet section for everyone.
But there we'll definitely have our own youtube.com videos since I have a working video capture card on my PC.
Hope to see you there (>'.')>b d<('.'<).
Update Edit: Due to excessive hacking Phantasy Star Universe has turned from a great game to virtually unplayable. I'm sad to say that I can no longer recommend this game to anyone so please stay away. If you want more details on the issue you can jump to the last post I made on this thread. Thank you
Phantasy Star Universe Guild!! (PC/PS2)

Already pre-ordered. I'll be shipping to PSU on my PC as soon as it comes out.^^ I played PSO for a year or so. So I know kinda what I'm doing.
You didn't really have to worry about money in the old game. I'd say 99.9% of the items you would use for a long time, dropped only off monsters.

Or duped. I hope Sega has at least fixed that.

I get paid tomorrow, so maybe I'll pick it up for PC sometime. I don't have high expectations though.

Give me the old game, - the gameshark shit and less redundancy and I'll be happy beyond belief. I was a Hucast, 149.:love

Duping wasn't gamesharked though, it was a glitch in the banking system. All a player had to do was move a NPC towards the bank, talk to the banker and NPC at the same time, and fuck around with some buttons until it got the deposit menu up while you were walking around. If Sega had foresight and altered those NPC's walking patterns, duping would have mostly been eradicated.
I still don't know what I'd be if I got PSU. Are there any new races/classes, or still the same old 3 classes, 4 model garbage?

Nah, not sure how long you played. But you could use the gameshark to make shops sell rare items for 0 meseta. You could buy anything from the NPC's for nothing and then take it online.
Also there are more races and more classes I believe. Also there is supposed to be much better character customization.

Oh? I forget exactly when I quit EP1&2... there was still quite a large population when I left. The most serious hack I saw was a guy killing one monster and going from LV.1 to LV.200. I think his name was InfamousNUGZ, the leader of those hacker guilds.
EP1&2 had excellent character customization to begin with-- fuck, even EP1 for DC had good stuff. I'd go as far as to say that DC EP1 > FFXI in that regard.
I think I'll make a ranger this go around, because lately I've been attracted to ranged classes in nearly everything. My alt character in EP1&2 was a RAcaseal, I played RNG in FFXI, I actually own a crossbow IRL... I think I'm meant for ranger :love
So what do you plan on playing?

I liked being a Hucast, because I liked being able to use a wide array of weapons. Since those were my favorite rare items to collect. So probably be something of that sort again.
And yes, you could use that on gameshark. It spawned super buuma (spelling? >_>) in the forest and they couldn't move or attack. So you just hit them until they died and you gained like 132 levels. Of course at level 1, I would say it took about 15 minutes to kill it.

I've never played PSO but I just checked out the site for PSU and it looks awesome. Do you have to pay monthly for the online version or is it free? Also is your online character separate from your 1P character?

Yes you pay and I'm not sure what you mean about your character.

No, it is not like FFXI. If they do it like EP1&2, it will be the same flat monthly cost for as many characters as you wish.

I would be happy if they just released a new PSO with upgraded/new items and fixed hacks. But this is way better.

Hmm, don't think I remember the weapon names. Lol.
I just know that I hated the slicer set. My favorite set was the partisan, but I usually kept my best of each with me.

Slicers were good for that De Rol Le worm boss. I'm surprised I remember this shit myself...
Caves 1-4 sucked.

Caves was the worst level design ever. It took forever to complete that crap. Then you get to the boss and realize all he does is waste time swimming around. Plus the stupid lilys on ultimate could One hit K.O. you. That place made me so mad it's not funny.

Too bad they don't have a guild system designed for the game. IMO, thats one of the most important features in an MMO. Keeps you connected with all your friends and stuff. Then again, I don't know much about this game, so there could be other ways to keep in contact that I'm not familiar with.
