I have its HP+ latent, tho i'm not sure how, but I don't get the MP latent. So it is possible to have one active and not the other. The ways in which they activate I dont know, but hopefully this will help.

Edit: Confrimed on above post, my lvl was 51.

Latent on hat seems to be lvl based: even is MP, odd is HP. all my testing has shown this, initially i thougt it was job based, but my friends 75 blu got hp while my lvl 8 got mp, all my 37 subs got hp as well.

Confirmed:
All roaming Windurst Waters NPCs turned me into the same monster as last year.
EDIT: All the stand-still NPCs also turn people into monsters. I'm not sure which is which, just that Ahyeekih (H-10) of Windurst Waters turned me into a Shade.

Uncomfirmed:
Two of my friends worked to get the combination for Windurst Waters stated in last year's Dyire Guide, and they did not get a pitchfork. They were in a party by themselves, and were Shade + Hound.

There were two different balloon stands they found. I don't think they tried Shade+Hound underneat the one near Ahyeekih, but I'll have them try it whenever they return.
