Ok, basically this is a tiny rant on airport and security and screwed up rules.
So, I'm coming back from Albuquerque and I checked in the night before so I could get my boarding pass early and stuff (Southwest ftw) and I go to check in my bags. So the lady goes through all my crap then asks if she could see my ID. So I take out my student ID and she actually has the balls to tell me that I need a government issued ID...
Guys, I'm not exactly a 16-year old terrorist. She actually wanted my lisence or I wouldn't be able to have my boarding pass, which would mean I would have to get a shitty seat the WHOLE flight home. So I ask her "So my school ID isn't good enough?" and she says "No, you HAVE to have a drivers lisence." and I was like "Oook?" and she like... takes my boarding pass AWAY from me (This boarding pass I actually took the time to print) and I have to go to those stupid people at the terminal to get a boarding pass (Which I REALLY don't want to do).
My luck was pretty good, however, when I had the previous night printed out two boarding passes. So I did'nt check out at the terminal or anything, and it was probably not a valid pass, but w/e. The guys at security checked it off, what do I care?
But the question I have is: Seriously, what gives? Why do I NEED a government issued ID when I'm sixteen? Eighteen, sure... but sixteen? I really shouldn't need to have a government issued ID if I'm still in school to go get a stupid boarding pass... whatever.
Any ideas why they've started to do this?

I'm probably more American than half the people that go through that airport
Yes, us whities are definitely the terrorists.

Government issued could be a lot of things, and not sure if a Social Security Card could count (but I'd imagine it would). Also a birth-certificate. Passport. Probably more than I suggested as well.
Your problem -- Why the fuck carry them with you?
I personally carry my Passport with me everytime I go to the airport. Just seems like a good habit. You did tell them that you were not capable under the law to get a government issued driver's license, correct? Did she even give you any other suggestions? I would have told her to stick it if she kept asking for a driver's license and I was only 15 years old.

Government issue is less forgeable, and if it is forged, the security is trained to spot the flaws.
They are not, however, trained to spot the flaws in every HS ID across the country.
Yea, you are pretty young. But who are we fighting? Religious fanatics that have been brainwashed since birth. The age of innocence is the easiest age to twist someone's mind. Your average Iraqi insurgent I would hazard to guess is 18 years of age, if that.
As far as Ura's comment, the chick at the counter could have thought you were hot. Full body cavity search ftfw!
PS: Stay the course, support our troops, gogo usabot!

Not to mention you were all alone. I'm sure they suspected you were on a solo mission to wherever it is that you live.

I got my California ID around age 16 when I went to the DMV to take my written test, it's pretty nifty to have seeing as almost EVERYONE asks for it...gets pretty damn annoying but hey as long as I have that there aren't many problems. Except for the fact that my California ID has a different last name than my school ID (Shhhhh.)

I need a California ID <_<
I still haven't taken the written tests... I'd love to say I'm too busy (Well, ok. I am NOW, but I wasn't before) but I'm really just lazy.
Now I've got so much crap to do Junior year. Whatever, I'll survive and make out with an ID of some sort.

Before 9/11 he was responsible for the worst terrorist attack. How easily we forget.
I always get double checked in airports, because I look middle eastern, even though I'm hispanic.
Airport security actually made me take off my sandels and looked at them like they were made out of TNT.
They need to leave the Hispanics and Blacks alone, and cavity search all Whites and Middle Easterners.
That will teach those dirty terrorists!

Airports, among other things, are trying to hard to be secure. They're just annoying now.
