ok...we all know FFXII is coming out this week. I went to a local (45 minutes away!) Gamestop and put a copy of the Collectors Edition on reserve. I figure I have been playing since FF I that I deserve the collectors edition...right?
Oddly enough, they already had the collectors edition guide out, but I hadn't even thought about getting it.
Ok, so we went about 15 minutes up the road to our local mall..an hour away for those keeping track...where my wife reminds meI needed a new PS2 controller, since theX button on my favorite skull samurai controller was startingto stick, as was the directional pad..lo and behold, there was another Gamestop!
We went in, I found a nice replacement controler, and went to the register. The clerk then asked if there was anything that I needed to reserve, where my wife said we had just reserved Final Fantasy. The clerk then began to convince us to reserve the guide there at their store, even that they could move over the game reserve to their store as well, to make things more convenient. We said that we would think about it. Thank Altana we didn't...
Last night, my mother-in-law was sent to the hospital, and we now know we are going to have a full weekend. So I called the Gamestop where we reserved the guide with the intention of switching the game reserve to them.
When I mentioned not being able to ge tthere before November 10th, they said that the guide would be replaced on the shelf 48 hours after release if I didn't pick it up, due to store policy...
I called the other store, where I reserved the actual game, and explained the situation, where the clerk told me that it wasn't a strict rule, and could be gottenaround. needless to say,I switched the guide reserve to them.
Makes me wonder if mostof theproblemspeopleare havingout of EB/GS is coming from moronic employees who couldn't give a rat's ass about the customer....

I'm not sure why everyone else is having trouble the eb games near my house is decent. They don't pressure you into stuff, though they do ask, and they usually get stuff right about pre orders.

As a former employee of Gamnstop, I can whole heartly agree with you about the morons they hire. At first I was proud to work at a gaming store. I thought it would be my dream job. But I found out that even though you sell games, you'll get nothing for actually having knowlege about the games you sell. It's more important to get subscriptions and reservations than it is to give a fuck about your job.
I used to reserve EVERY game I wanted several weeks in advance, but knowing the bullshyt busniess practices of that corperation, i just as easily order it online or go to a different store.
Basicly, their hot topic for the gaming world. Their driving force is more money than actually doing good for the gaming community, and just like your grandmother using the current slang term, they'll be the death of a culture.
Fuck gamestop/EB games (same corperation), they're as bad as gilsellers IMHO.
