So many PLD's complain about not getting parties. Many quit the job because of it. So i wanted to see what kind of exp small bands of PLD can pull down. I wanted to share a camp of mine with you fellow PLDs. I have some rough exp amounts you can expect under bad and light competition, realisticaly.
I know a few PLD's that have very difficult times getting parties. So i started thinking, how about grabbing a couple of them and head out to see what PLD's can trio/dou for EXP. And i was pleasantly suprised.
I grabbed Donavan and Seraphpdh, both high level PLD's. We all Subbed NIN, in DD gear, and 2 of us had sanction refresh and made our way to the Mire to try Imps. PST sdont forget the echo drops
With 3 PLD/NIN chain 5 was rediculously easy, hell i wouldnt be suprised if we could get a bit higher than chain 5. The first kill would get us 150-170 a kill and chain 5 kills would get us 200+ exp a kill. We had absolutely no down time whatsoever. And got 4-5k exp per hour.
I know what your saying... 4-5k exp per hour isnt too good. And i agree. But, there was 5 other parties there at the time. Yes, thats right, 4-5 other parties. Most of our EXP time was spent hunting for mobs. Certainly, more time was spent hunting than actualy killing. I have no doubts we could reach 8k per hour or higher. No doubts what so ever.
Some may say, "...if there were 4 other parties there why mess up there exp." I would reply that if 3 PLD are fukcing over your 6 man burn parties exp... you have bigger issues. lmao
In retrospect, having one PLD sub RDM for erase wouldve been great for out trip into the Mire.
Do you need 3 people? No! I mean it. 2 Paladin/Ninja in DD gear can easily reach chain 5 off VT imps. The regular kills would yeild 200 EXPish and Chain 5's would yeild 250EXP always. And yes, you can get to chani 5 without resting, with a minimal amount of skill.
The only reason I brought 3 Paladins with me to check this camp out was that i dont trust peoples internet connections. Ive tried soloing imps before, and i can get them to @10-20% before going down. If someone were to DC on a fresh pull, its possible to solo one... but not realy advised unless you have haste gear out the yin yang. (i only have 3% haste lmao)
All three of us agreed that it was the most fun weve had exping on PLD in a realy realy long time. And i wanted to share it with you guys as well. We are eager to try out new spots as well. Please, share some spots youve tried out. XD

Yeah, I can solo Sea Puks, Marids, Jnuns, and Imps as PLD/WAR, even, for 200-400 EXP a kill.
Ridiculously easy with the shield update and the access to Refresh we have these days.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I think a PLD/RDM would have a lot of trouble dispelling Imps. They are dark based mobs and Dispel is a dark based spell.
I've had resist's off them with 300+ Enfeebling skill.
Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun (which is the main thing) and will also cut down a lot of the frustration for you when no other bugger will invite you to party.

LMAO, nothing is more fun than running by a parties camp and having them go "O.o a PLD party?!" while you claim their Imp LMAO!
but yeah, i highly advise trying this out! I think im in love with the mire. I will bring some PLD's so some other camps as well once some play time frees up.
BTW we went:
75PLD/37NIN
75PLD/24NIN
74PLD/36NIN
For some of the time A freind, who will remain nameless due to his gimped sub (25NIN) and I duoed these imps to Chain 5. While he Did have a hauby and joytoy he also had some AF and tank gear on. I was in a pure DD settup. So this is more than an option for the average geared PLD.
ALSO:
Try to take it easy on your echo drops, the silence does not last long at all. Infact by the time you find another imp, chances are your silence will have worn off naturaly. Or if your not the person with agro, go ahead stay silenced. We're PLD we know how to tank a silly imp and take little to no damage. I things start to go down hill hit the echo, and pump a cure III or IV into the tank with a flash.
Chances are youll 1 pull hate off him for a fresh utsi, or 2 blind him so he can refresh utsi.
3 pld = about 50 less exp/kill = much safer than 2 due to disconnects.
i advise 3 if you dont trust your, or others, internet connections. But this is more than doable with 2 people.
