Mog Toolz

Offical Site
What is Mog Toolz?

MogToolz is a free FFXI configuration tool that will enable you to improve the graphic quality of the game without having to tweak the registry values. Square Enix offers a basic configuration tool with the game but as most of you may know if you really want the game to look fine, you will have to mess with the registry.

There are a few values to change and you may find that, in the end, you don't need a tool to change the values for you. True. The main advantage MogToolz provides is that it allows you to customise 5 graphics presets (Classic, Dynamis, High, Medium and Low). Change from one to the other in two mouse clicks.

Even wondered why you were lagging so bad, probably because you forgot about this time (oh well, but it was months ago!) when you tried to see how far you could push your graphic card and never bothered to revert to the original settings. Well no more of that, two clicks will allow you to make the most of your gaming experience depending on your needs.

What is FFXIMogToolzLauncher?

Since the Windower's Launcher overwrites the registry with its own .ini values, this custom Launcher creates a new .ini file based on the values found in the windower.ini. It reads and then writes the windower.ini values into a windower_MogToolz.ini that will be used to save the user's preferences.

What does it look like?

The New FFXI Parser
Offical Site

History:
The FFXIP parser was originally created by Spyle. You can view his website at Here. On June 22, 2006 he released the Source to anyone who wanted it. I decided to take up the project in the hopes of learning more about it's code and to make some changes that people who still used the parser wanted. Please check back often to check on the progress of new versions and updates. I have taken some of the original information from Spyle's Site or redirected you to his site until I get more done.

Introduction:
This program is designed to read the log files that FFXI dumps to your H/D. It does not violate the TOS agreement. It does nothing more than what you could do with a calculator and a stop watch. It's primary use is to help you decide which gear helps your character best.

Features:
# Customizable statistics for each monster you fight.
# Loot/Gil results.
# Edit the results by selecting only the fights/players you want.
# Detailed report - See every point of damage for an entire fight.
# Summary report - See your average damage/accuracy compared to others.
#Export HTML. See example! - will take you to a sample on Spyle's original site.

3) FFXi Windower
Offical Site

Forums here.

About:

FFXi Windower is a tool to enable FFXi to run in a pseudo window mode. FFXi windower makes no changes to any files but performs minor alterations to the game once loaded in to memory that allow it to hook and intercept windows API calls.

There currently exist a few major bugs that may be encountered. With the windower active you may notice the game gamma to darken.

Usage:

1. Download the zip file and extract the files to a directory of your choice.
2. Make sure POL and FFXi are not currently running and if so exit them.
3. Double click Launcher.exe and the windower will start and will automatically start POL.
If you recieve an error containing "Failed to send settings to game" then there has been a problem with injection, there is currently no workaround for this and you may want to try an older version or wait for a new version.
4. The windower will close after a short duration automatically after starting POL.

FAQ:

Q: The cursor won't leave the game window and I'm having trouble switching windows.

A: Enable hardware cursor in the FFXi config utility provided with the game or it's possible the windower is broken after a new patch.

Q: POL console crashes when exiting.

A: Known issue.

Q: POL window fails to appear after exiting FFXi and I have to manually end the process.

A: First try waiting 10 seconds to see if the window reappears, it may take some time for it to spawn a new window. There is also a bug that causes this behavior but I have not been able to locate it so far.

4) Wardrobe v2

Offical Site

Wardrobe v2 is a program that allows you to dynamicly change your Race, Hair Style, as well as equipment, dynamicly, with ease. There are no files to replace, or having to worry about corruptions. Simply choose what you want from the lists and your done.

While using this, you must leave it open for the changes to stay on. If, at any time, you wish to reset your character to normal, smply close the program.

Your settings are saved to the wardrobe.ini file in the [LastUsed] section for those who like a certain set of gear and always use it. Simply change the LoadLastUsed to 0 to turn off this feature. If this feature is turned off, the program will load what your currently using in the lists. (NOTE: Even if you turn this off, your settings are saved. So watch out.)

Other settings are self explainitory.

I'd like to thank Taj, the original creator of this program, for the source to keep it alive. I converted it to VB6 (.NET is evil!) for easier use and allowing the users to have a settings file to set offsets incase they change. (Not saying .NET cant do this.)

Only you see this change as well, meaning its client side only. No one
else can see what you have changed yourself into. So it is semi-safe
to use.

Skillchain Calculator

Offical Site

UPDATE: 0.9.5-PREVIEW released 11/07/2006 with "Cap" command (see what a skill caps at at a given level) and data file updates for Relic WSes and full information on ToAU jobs (based on version 15 of Aden's Renkei Chart). Download link: here

Known Issues
* Blue Magic ("Monster") weaponskills are considered in skillchains even if the Blue Mage is not level 40 and thus able to use "Chain Affinity" to actually skillchain with their abilities. Workaround: Use "BLU31 SWD" instead of just "BLU31" to ensure only sword skills are examined.
* A puppetmaster is considered to have all four frames regardless of level. (I hear you can determine the order you get the new frames in?). To specify your frames, use "PUP25 h2h harlequin valoredge" (omit the "h2h" if you don't want to consider hand-to-hand skills) or something similar.

Original post:

Some time ago I posted a thread asking what features people would like to see in an in-game skillchain calculator. While I still haven't been able to contact Cliff or Azaril to make it an actual Windower plugin, I do have a preliminary version of a skillchain calculator that runs as a standalone program.

Bear in mind, I started writing this with the idea that it would eventually be a Windower plugin, so if you're expecting a frilly interface, don't. This is a simple program that works solely on text input/output. It does, however, implement a lot of features not found in other skillchain calculators -- and is considerably faster than any webbased one.

Thus, here is the preview release. I'd love it if people could try this out and let me know if they have any problems/feature requests.

Contents
sccalc.exe - Skillchain calculator 0.9.3-PREVIEW
data.txt - Describes skillchain data. Optional. The skillchain calculator normally uses its own built-in copy of skillchain data, not this file (though you can change this)

Downloading instructions
1. Download the program from Rapidshare (sorry! My webhosting account is offline) http://rapidshare.de/files/28676835/sccalc-0.9.4.zip.html.

2. Extract the contents of the .zip file using your preferred unzipping program.

3. Run sccalc.exe to begin using the skillchain calculator. No installation (or uninstallation) is required.

Usage
At the > prompt, you can enter commands to the skillchain calculator, or a skillchain to calculate. See 'help' for details on commands.

Skillchain Syntax
Skillchains are expressed in a simple language reminiscent of basic addition. The intent is to require the least input to produce skillchain information that is as close to what the user desires as possible. It is best explained by example.

DRG + SAM

The simplest example. Shows all skillchains that can be made between a dragoon and a samurai using the weapon types commonly used by those jobs (Polearm and Great Katana). Since job levels weren't specified, it assumes both jobs are level 75. Each weapon is assumed to be capped.

Gkt200 > Viperbite

Shows skillchains from somebody with level 200 Great Katana skill that are closed by Viper Bite. Note that you write weaponskill names as one word, so "Viperbite" not "Viper Bite". The skillchain calculator doesn't care about case and filters out anything that's not a letter, so Samurai weaponskills can be represented as either "tachi:enpi" or "tachienpi", it doesn't matter.

WAR50/NIN Greataxe + THF50 = earth

Shows skillchains with a warrior 50 subbing ninja (which is assumed to be 25 -- half of 50) who is using a greataxe and a level 50 thief with capped dagger skill, but only skillchains that can be bursted with Earth magic. This shows Scission, Gravitation, and Darkness skillchains only.

Guillotine Spinningslash + Dancingedge Viperbite + SAM75 = Fusion Ice 3

You can do skillchains with as many partners as you want (though doing more than 4 or so will drastically increase the amount of time required.) You can also specify as many prereqisites (the part after the = sign) as you want.

The example above will find any skillchain using Guillotine or Spinning Slash, Dancing Edge or Viperbite, and/or any weaponskill accesible to a SAM75 using a great katana -- provided that at least one part of the chain is burstable with Ice magic (Induration, Distortion, or Darkness), or is Fusion, or is a level 3 skillchain (Light, Dark).

DRK59>THF59=Crab

New in verson 0.9.3 is mob family support. Instead of asking for a specific element, name a mob family as a preqrequisite and you'll get skillchains that burst at least one of its weaknesses. For example, =crab is the same as =thunder ice

**SAM76 -Tachi:enpi

New in version 0.9.4 is the ability to self-skillchain and exclude weapons or weaponskills. This will allow a samurai to weaponskill up to three times (everyone gets to weaponskill once, each '*' adds one more) and specifically excludes Tachi: Enpi from the results.[/code]

SMN40 -Fenrir -Diablos + THF40

Gimp summoner? Using the ability to exclude weapon types (summoner avatars are counted as weapon types) you can use this to not show avatars the summoner doesn't have

Quirks
There are a few oddities in how skillchain syntax is handled that may surprise the user.

Specifying a specific weaponskill along with other criteria
If you specify a weaponskill along with other criteria, the results may not be as you expect. For example: "THF Dancingedge" will look at all dagger weaponskills, not just dancing edge. This is because, unless you specify a given weapon, the skillchain calculator automatically assumes to use the 'preferred' weapons for the specified job. And if you do specify a given weapon, the skillchain calculator will automatically use all of that weapon's skills.

The reason for this behavior is simple: If the calculator looked exclusively at the specific skills, certain useful combinations (For example, GSD + Guillotine -- which finds any GSD weaponskill OR Guillotine) would be impossible to make.

To avoid surprises, just use "Dancingedge", not "THF Dancingedge"

Light and Dark prerequisites
If you specify "Light" or "Dark" as a prerequisite, the results will not be what you expect. Since Light and Darkness each are both an element AND a skillchain, you'll find all chains burstable by that element or that are Light or Dark.

To get around this, you can use the aliases "CLight" and "CDark" to match the skillchain, or "ELight" and "EDark" to match the element. Or just add the prerequisite '3' which forces level 3 skillchains only.

A + B > C + D
You might read this as "Find any skillchain between A and B, followed by C, then D." This is incorrect. The skillchain calculator will actually find any of the following skillchains:
A>C, A>D, B>C, B>D, A>B>C, A>B>D, A>B>C>D, A>B>D>C, B>A>C, B>A>D, B>A>C>D, B>A>D>C

To be specific about behavior, use > more than once. For example, A + B > C > D.

Changes in version 0.9.2-PREVIEW
* A 'help' command was added.
* Skillchain results are now numbered and sorted. The sort order can be changed (see 'help sort' within the program.)
* The depth (# of partners used) and maximum number of results when figuring skillchains can now be limited. (see 'help depth' and 'help limit')
* An 'info' command was added, which can be used to find information on a given element, skillchain, weapon, weaponskill, or job.
* Skillchains are now assigned a score based on the weaponskills used. However, all of the weaponskills are currently rated as '0'. You can alter the data.txt file to change this amount. This is useful for filtering out certain weaponskills that nobody really wanted to use, anyways.
* Results now show the weapon name, skill level, what to magic burst, and the score. You can toggle the display of each of these with the 'show' and 'hide' commands... see 'help show'.

Changes in version 0.9.3-PREVIEW
* Added BLM Scythe skill to the builtin data file. (Thanks to Hayly for reporting this issue.)
* Added Diabolos and the "Camisado" blood pact to the data file. See the file for some oddities on how it skillchains -- Camisado is a buggy bloodpact. (Thanks to Vindicator for helping determine how Camisado skillchains)
* Corrected the spelling of Sturmwind (it was misspelled as Strumwind)
* Corrected the depth limit issue where DRG+WAR>THF with a depth of 2 would show DRG to WAR without letting the thief close. Skillchains are no longer displayed if they don't make it through to the last "group"
* Added Mob Family support, with thanks to Tahti for compiling the information.
* You can now launch the skillchain calculator with a given file and it will load using that file's data instead of the builtin data.

Changes in version 0.9.4-PREVIEW
* Istaru casts Raise III on Sccalc.
* Added support for self-skillchaining.
* Added support for excludign specific weapon types and weaponskills.
* Added 'Doesn't Chain' as a fake element in the data file and added Spirit Take and Spirits Within. These can never skillchain, but will now show in "info sword" and "info staff", accordingly.

Changes in version 0.9.5-PREVIEW
* Data file correction: "Black Halo" was listed as SP, now changed to EX.
* Added Blue Mage job and weapon info, including monster WSes. Note that "Blue Magic" WSes are considered regardless of whether a Blue Mage has learned the "Chain Affinity" job ability.
* Added Corsair job and weapon info.
* Added Puppetmaster job and weapon info, including frames.
* Added 'cap' command that shows weapon skill caps for a given level. Not guarunteed to be 100% accurate.
* Added Relic Weaponskills. These are currently recognized as level 500 skills so won't show up in results unless you explicitly ask for them.

Possible future features:
I'm considering adding a way to define profiles such that you can say:
profile Istaru BLU10/WAR5

which will be saved for later use, and then do
THF11 + Istaru

Fraps
Offical Site

Fraps is a universal Windows application that can be used with all games using DirectX or OpenGL technology. In its current form Fraps performs many tasks and can best be described as:

Benchmarking Software - See how many Frames Per Second (FPS) you are getting in a corner of your screen. Perform custom benchmarks and measure the frame rate between any two points. Save the statistics out to disk and use them for your own reviews and applications.

Screen Capture Software - Take a screenshot with the press of a key! There's no need to paste into a paint program every time you want to capture the screen. Your screen captures are also automatically named and timestamped.

Realtime Video Capture Software - Have you ever wanted to record video while playing your favourite game? Come join the Machinima revolution! Throw away the VCR, forget about using a DV cam, game recording has never been this easy! Fraps can capture audio and video up to 1152x864 and 100 frames per second!

FFXI Icons
Offical Site

I just downloaded the patch and updated my UI dats to comply with the changes. As far as I can tell, SE added Hasso and Seigan icons and created a new Third Eye icon. I opted to keep Faranim and Lazureus' original Third Eye icon instead for now but let me know which icon you prefer. If you guys like SE's icon better, I'll use it instead next time.

SE also modified the other UI dat file slightly in order to add the new graphic for the tell chat filter. If you try to access chat filters using an older version of my dats, the game will crash so I recommend not using an older version of my dats with this update.

Oh and I also may have changed the chat log a little bit since last time just to tweak a few things too. I hope I included the right version....

Anyway, please post any comments here, especially if I missed some crucial UI change in the patch. I haven't tested this at all since I really should be studying, and will be getting back to the books right now!

You can download the DATs from:
filefactory.com, savefile.com, orbitfiles.com, or rapidshare.de.

If you want to see what the UI looks like, see this older lj entry for a screenshot: FFXI UI 0.10 (September 23, 2006)

FFXI Maps 1.3.5
Offical Site
I updated my replacement map DATs for Final Fantasy XI. The latest TAU maps from ffxi-atlas.com are included and I updated the Yhoator Jungle, Korroloka Tunnel, Maze of Shakhrami, Tahrongi Canyon, West Sarutabaruta, Lufaise Meadows, and Misareaux Coast maps with H/E/L/M points also from ffxi-atlas.com. Finally, I created maps for all Lance Corporal and Corporal assaults to match the style of Coren's previous assault maps. The only tricky part was one Periqia map appears to be used for both the Superior Private and Corporal assaults so I had to put those maps together. If you do either of those assaults, please let me know if my updated map shows up.

If you already have version 1.3.4 of my maps installed, then you can download the smaller update from any of these mirrors:
filefactory.com, savefile.com, or orbitfiles.com.

Otherwise, get the whole thing from any of these mirrors: filefactory.com, savefile.com, or orbitfiles.com

Extract the zip file to your Final Fantasy XI directory to install the maps. Post any problems or comments here.

Edit: I just noticed I made a slight error describing the Mamool Ja LC assault. The last line should read "You can not be disguised while opening a chest or carrying a temporary item." Sorry! I'll fix that in the next version after SE's next content patch.

Edit #2: added more mirrors since these free hosts like to go down a lot.

AltanaView v0.61a by Tiamat

Offical Site
This is a Very Powerfull and Nice Viewer. It gives much better FFXI renders like in game. It also Allows Viewing of Basicly everything from the FFXI Files.

Executable and list files in English, with a document in Japanese.
The list files included in the archive were translated by a program I've developed. The program first creates Japanese-English dictionary files by extracting text data from FFXI data files, and then translates lists from Japanese to English with the dictionary files automatically. AltanaCubby, which is also an application I created, partly involves a similar process to the translation program.

POLUtils
Offical Site

1. What is POLUtils anyway?

POLUtils is a collection of utilities related to PlayOnline, Square/Enix' online gaming framework.
It currently contains:

* an audio manager (with POL, TetraMaster and FFXI support - would add FMO support if I could get someone to give me the info)
* data browsers for Tetra Master and FFXI
* an offline macro editor for FFXI
* a configuration editor for FFXI

2. What are the system requirements?

Well, POLUtils requires the .NET Framework 1.1 to be installed, and the Audio Manager has an additional dependency on Managed DirectX (part of DirectX 9 or higher) if you want audio playback (and that's a rather essential element of that particular tool). Unfortunately, Managed DirectX is not automatically installed along with DirectX - you can find a suitable installer for it on the downloads page.
As for Windows version, any version of windows that can install those two dependencies should do (which basically means Windows 98 or later). Future versions of POLUtils may use the 2.0 framework, which will probably require Win2K or later.

3. I get an exception saying Invalid Codepage - why is that?

FFXI uses a text encoding based on shift-jis, and it seems the .NET framework relies on a Windows code page to process shift-jis. However, the shift-jis codepage isn't installed by default. You can easily install it in one of two ways: either you enable support for East-Asian languages (Control PanelRegional and Language OptionsLanguages), but that requires 230MB of disk space, or you can just make sure codepages 1250, 1251 and 932 are checked on the Advanced tab of the same control panel applet.
As of version 0.5.0, POLUtils uses a handwritten encoding handler for FFXI, so no additional codepages should be needed.

4. Why isn't POLUtils available in ?

Easy - noone has volunteered to help with the translation yet. If you want to provide the translation, let me know; all help is appreciated.

5. Is POLUtils going to steal my passwords or destroy my PC?

I sure hope not ^^. POLUtils currently never ever connects to the internet, so your passwords are safe. As for destroying your PC, that's unlikely as well (of course, the .Net framework is Microsoft technology, so you never know).

6. Will you make a WinAmp plugin for .bgw/.spw files?

No. I considered doing so, but decided against it since a) there already is such a plugin, and cool.gif the WinAmp SDK is, well, crap (I never realized how great the foobar APIs were until I saw the WinAmp SDK).

7. The menus in the Macro Editor only show little squares instead of symbols, but I do have East-Asian supprt installed. Help!

This probably means you're using an older (pre-XP) version of Windows. POLUtils has no control over the font of its menus; that's handled by the system. Try setting the menu font (via the Appearance tab of the Display properties in the Control Panel) to Tahoma, that should work.

8. What is that EngrishOnry thing?

EngrishOnry is a utility to help out those people playing the JP version of FFXI who would like most of the game to be in English. It will translate many of the game's assets to make that happen.

9. There's a game patch coming up! How will this affect my use of EngrishOnry?

Good question. If there is a patch, you must take two steps to avoid your game becoming corrupted: 1) Restore all translations BEFORE applying the patch, and 2) Delete EngrishOnry's backup folder ([FFXI Install Dir]EngrishFFXI-Backup). If you fail to do the first step the patch may fail, and you may be forced to reinstall the game. If you fail to do the second, EngrishOnry will be unable to Restore the original file (it will restore the file from BEFORE the patch) - again, possibly forcing you to reinstall.
Note: in some cases you may be able to force a full file check + redownload of corrupted files by deleting the "patch.ver" in the FFXI installation directory. But this is by no means guaranteed.

Marco Master
Offical Site
Ok here it is, This is a tool I developed for creating whatever length macros your little heart desires. Here are some of the features

It is based on the windowerHelper.dll so it requires Azaril's Windower

Also requires .net framework 2.0 Which is available from Microsoft's Website

    • Create Macros of any length
    • Loop macros
    • Auto Fill for common terms
    • Auto translate
    • Fast switch between macro sets using Page Up and Page Down
    • User-Defined Bind keys
    • Auto switch to ffxi after a macro is clicked
    • Compact mode for taking up less screen real estate

Check it out and let me know what you think

Macro Master 0.2.0
• Fixed issue with Macro build and edit forms not having scrollbars

Added a tool for testing and adding new Auto-Translate Codes to the ini.
It is included in the package now, called AutoTransAdder.exe

I would like to have it just read through the dats and Find them for you, however, my daughter was just born on Thursday, so not much time. You can download polutils to find the codes and then add them with this tool, or just play around.

Sidenote: If anyone has an experience with reading data from ffxi dats and would like to contribute, please by all means send me a pm. I already know which dats contain the data, just need to extract it.

LogMon
Offical Site
LogMon is a complete alternative to the basic chat log in FFXI, allowing creation of custom windows that only show specific types of text as well as alarms that give visual and audible alerts when regular expression strings are matched on any type of line in the chat log.

As this program runs totally separately to FFXI it can be opened and closed at will unlike other programs that hook into FFXI and if closed crash FFXI. This also means that LogMon can run on a separate monitor if you have more than one meaning you don't have to cover any of the FFXI screen.
