Nah, you don't have to get nuked to get back out. Just call a GM and they'll take you out with a smile.

Yeah, Sandy is really glitchy, easy to fall off into the water there.

Another glitchy spot is the bridge north of Yoran-Oran's house in Dynamis-Windurst.

I dunno, it seems to freeze up less when I have the settings lower like that......

My guess would be your video card is overheating. You could try opening up your computer and cleaning it out, there is probably a shitload of dust in there if you've never cleaned it and it could be causing your video card to overheat.

Mmm, I initially thought it was the video card, seeing as how my moniter would freeze up, and then shutdown, but I checked it and cleaned it out, and it still doesn't work... But maybe I didn't clean it well enough.... that was quite some time ago....

Nah 512 is plenty for FFXI. Is it FFXI that freeze up only or your entire computer? If it does freeze up less with lower setting, then its almost definitily something overworking or overheating itself.

Go to Start -> Run and type dxdiag.exe

Then when that pops up, tell me what you've got for a processor, then go to the display tab, and tell me what you've got for a video card and its memory.

Thats really weird that FFXI would freeze up then since everything is well over what FFXI needs.

You said that your monitor freezes up. Does that mean that your computer still runs fine but your monitor stops responding? You might have the resolution or refresh rate higher than it supports and maybe your monitor is overheating, since flat panel LCDs can overheat easier than CRT? I don't really know since I have no idea why it would freeze up with what you've got.

Maybe update your NVIDIA drivers, but even with the base drivers that come with windows, it still shouldn't be locking up.
