Fireworks aren't even necessary. If you have the patience to wait to give approximately 3 gifts (I think that's how many it took for me, but I may have had fame left over from prior days, I don't know) to a kid, that should do it. Basically talk to the smilebringer and if he's really enthusiastic about your work, you'll get the gift from your moogle.

i didn't have to trade any presents at all, i have full holiday fame in all three nations left over from the past winter solstice events, then again i got my dream hat +1 last year ('05) so it's not really important. also i'd like to note that iv'e gotten two candy rings (currently have two in inventory) aswell as 2 rolls, atleast 1 pudding and 1 gatuaex. found out you can get three "presents" (foods) at one time from the smilebringers (within one day) just not completely sure how i did it, think i traded presents in all three nations, i did it on the first day of event so it's hard to remember how i did it. so far i've gotten one item from stocking, one from platter, and atleast 4 from chest thing. all three dream furniture was aquired within the same hour.

I'm actually getting sick of getting Buche au Chocolate's from my moogle. And I'm a mage. LOL
So far I've gotten 4 Buche's from my platter. I've also gotten a couple of candy canes, and a candy ring.
I've also read somewhere that the Candy Canes have +4 INT and MND, as well as hMP+4. Haven't tried this yet, but could be very handy on my BLM. Same for the Buche's I suppose.

Friend said in-game that if you give away presents to increase your fame, you may get a better food item from your moogle. So I ran around sandy and gave about 8 firecrackers and 1 present (given to me by a smilebringer) away then imediately spoke to my moogle and got roast turkey for the first time! He said that it seems like your fame drops each time you're given some food. Heres the order I've recieved stuff:
Candy Ring (given like 1 present by that point.)
Buche de Choco (haven't given any since.)
Buche de Choco (haven't given any since.)
Buche de Choco (haven't given any since.)
Roast Turkey. (traded about 9 presents total before speaking to moogle and got this!)
So is turkey at the top of the fame list? Hmmm.

I suppose the Turkey could've been the #1 fame thing. I got the turkey first before anything else, when I was giving presents on a constant basis because it was the thing to do while waiting between treant spawns. I think I hadn't teleported anywhere yet, either. And I did notice a correlation between fame dropping seemingly on its own (after getting presents from the moogle) and not getting any at all if I'd been teleporting all the time and had no fame.

Looks like the New Years mini event might have started. Going to check now.
Last year, the mini event was basically trading npcs for random gifts that gave fishing support, shock spikes, etc. If that is the case, ill just tack on a note on this guide. If it looks like its more complex, ill write a separate guide for it.
Last year, the mini event lasted from the 31st to the 10th.
