I only hit 75 about a week ago and up until today, I haven't done much. I knew that BST was a powerful job but I didn't know you could do so much and have so much fun in so little time. Today I realized that when you're a BST, you do things and see things that no other job will ever see. I hadn't had so much fun in a long long time, and the same goes for my friend who was with me.

Since the BST random discussion thread is pretty much dead, and there is no BST accomplishment/goal thread, I'm making one.

So, feel free to post pictures of NMs you've taken down, stuff you've soloed/duoed/trioed that no other jobs could do, or anything that was a hard task to accomplish.

This is what we did today and it was all in a matter of a few hours.



Tyrannic was a real challenge. It was my first time fighting him but we were able to take him down. I died once at about 30% and reraised and continued to fight. Just Lohar and no V. Claw :cry



Lindwurm was cake compared to TT lol. One skin and 9000g



After we checked up on AG and sure enough, he was up. Took him down no problem but didn't get any good drops :con

nice man, I plan to have my BST at 75 in about a month. Right now I'm 46 and steadily increasing. It's a slow job but if you play a lot it evens out.

Ya I got mine from 1-75 in about 3 months while grinding pretty much the entire time. It gets really nice at 62+ as you'll get 300+ exp per kill even without empress band, plus you get the 10% exp bonus and refresh with sanction. I didn't leave Aht Urghan from 62-75 except for the occasional duo/trio in The Boyahda Tree.

Oh I love bst too but only claim to fame was a duo bcnm20 which I posted on this forum somewhere.
Slowly skilling up scythe so I might have a go at spiral hell sometime. I think that's probably one of the few NMs no one will steal at 1%. lol

I'm loving bst too, currently 57 trying to level in Garlaige Citadel. I cant wait to hit Uleguerand Range as that sounds like a nice challange.
The other day i was in Labrynt of Onzozo and the NM Peg Powler popped. When he was down to 5% i started to melee alongside my Tough pet. At 1% my pet uncharmed and before i could say 'oh shit' i was dead.

5 Bsts > Hakutaku! there was a mnk with us, but he got bored after the first fight. Each fight took about 30-45 minutes, but well worth it, I'd like to see any other job (besides Avesta on rdm -.-;;; ) do that with 5! That was probably the most fun Ive had on bst.

Ya BST Hakutaku runs are really fun and really difficult to actually lose to. I've done two with some mixed support jobs in there like WHM and SMN but didn't take any screens. ;_;

I love bst even tho its low lvl XD but im think ign of starign it again how long should it take to get from 15 to 35 >< and how much can i expect to spend in gear form 15>35 and from 1 to 75 thx for the help ^^ (i have a moster singa my friend will let me use ^^)

Hmm. With a job that solos its really hard to say. Since you solo you really have to level by your standards, not others, as you may have to in normal exp parties. Personally, when I leveled BST I think it took me like two weeks or so to get from 15->35 but its been quite a while so give or take a week maybe. For how much gear will cost for both 15->35 and 1->75 really depends on how you want to play. If you want a Haubergeon and Apollos Staff then the cost will go up 3m+, depending on server, but these are luxury items, you have HAVE to have them to level. I'd say it would cost like 10m+ if you want to level with really really good stuff to hit 75. Haubergeon/Hauberk, Apollos Staff, Hakutaku Cluster, etc. are all high prices items that would be nice to have, but don't have to have them. You could probably hit 75 with less than 5m I'd say with decent stuff.

is it easier to get another job to 75 first so you can obtain stuff for your bst? b/c my sam is 34 right now and thats my highest afetr 2 years of playing ><

Well, I had a SAM75, so I already had a ton of endgame gear for it, but a lot of the stuff I had to buy too. I'd say BST is the easiest to get to 75 the first time just because you can do stuff other jobs cant. You can solo most of your AF keys for example. Its really up to you. BST75 as a first job would be very very useful compared to many others.

I think some people would have problems finding help for bst AF3 in the glacier side of Necropolis on their first job if they havent made some good friends by then.
Course I had to be a rdm for my first job and never got my body till I was 63 and my hat till I was 65. {All right}
Getting that AF was in a time when astral rings were in castle oz coffers and you had to beat 6 thf to a coffer just so you could get your AF body..
More often then not the thf used flee to get around and popped the coffer before you got there, unless he had to fight a yag at the spawn point then you had a chance at stealing it from him. (Provided you got there fast enough.)
Thank god SE removed astrals from castle oz coffers but it was like a month or so after I got my AF. lol

I think most jobs find their very first AF quests very similar to teeth extraction because of the frustration involved of motivating people to help you do something that has no benefit to them.

As for every AF I have done since then, I have done them all before my job has reached 60 so it would motivate me to lvl up so I could equip them.
I had BST AF completed when the job itself was 52 so there is an advantage to using higher lvl jobs to help you with future quests.
It is a huge advantage but you will need to ask people for help with some parts of your AF no matter if you have a higher lvl job or not.
Difference is you need only 3 lvl 75 peeps to farm a key in some of the harder places where in the past, it used to take a full party of lvl 60s to farm a key.

getting HL to help is nt a problem my ls is a sky ls and everyoen there is nice and helpfull ^^ im sure it wouldent be too hard to get af and also i think i will go back to bst since i odbnt play as much anymore :-)

It's posts like this that made me put down my WAR axes and pick up my BST axes again. Although my BST is only 37 atm, I have had the NM rush while leveling off spiders in korroloka and popping/killing NM. Probably the most fun I've ever had in game.

Thats what happened with my SAM. I put down my Great Katana and only pick it up once in a while for events and exp. There is just so much you can do that no other jobs can do. Today, after checking on Ancient Goobbue and finding out that he wasn't up, we decided to go visit our gil selling friend Mmtheblue. While we were looking for him in Kuftal Tunnel, we came upon Pelican. We decided we'd kill it as a duo. We tried to, but on the way back up we got aggro from a tiger, mischarmed, and you can imagine what happened from there. We then returned with a new plan and luckily he was only about 1/3 the way back to his spawn area. We brought him back up top and constantly threw Easy Prey pets at him until he was dead. Mmtheblue then joined up with us and as we got into the fight I can honestly say that this fight would be almost 99% impossible to have duoed. It could be done if both subbed NIN and were very skilled, but it would still be very hard. The problem is that he has additional effect: petrification on his attacks so when your pet gets hit with it, it will get petrified and your pet will lose hate then it will come after you while your pet is sitting 100 feet away and completely useless so this means you almost have to constantly just recharm more and more pets. Without the healing, refresh, bind, and gravity provided by Mmtheblue, I'm sure we would have wiped at no more than 80%. He breaks Stoneskin in a single attack and still hits for 100+ damage.

This was early on in the fight. A NIN had been watching us for a while and following us around, we think he wanted to steal once it got to like 1% as it often went yellow because of the constant pet swaps.


It hit so hard that our pets would be dead in no more than a dozen hits. Up to 400+ on criticals on Easy Prey pets :dontgetit


We had drawn a small crowd after a while and theres the NIN who we think wanted to steal. We kept it red during the last 10% luckily and Mmtheblue even took a shot at Aero III which took off a whole 1% of his HP


Drops. Nothing expensive or anything but a nice shield to our RDM friend and a hell of a good time.

Well since this is now the accomplishment thread DING BST38/NIN19! Only 2 more levels and I can go solo my Gaudy Harness =)
