Salvage Information

If you are going to give information regarding position of Mobs inside salvage, please incude specific remnant, direction taken and floor. It makes it a lot easier to collate. Also, I would like to start collating information on what items drop from which remnants, floor, and path too, incase it is specific, so be as specific as you can when posting.

[red]To enter Salvage:[/red]
You need to buy a Remnants Pass from Zashaal, outside the Assault area in Whitegate. It costs 2000 Assault points, and it doesnt matter which Assault area you use points from to buy it with. You need to be past atleast ToAU mission 15, "The Black Coffin". To buy a pass, you must currently be on a level 65 job or higher, and the same applies for entering salvage.

It is possible, as with assaults, to buy one pass, do salvage more than 100 minutes prior to JP Midnight the next day, start another Salvage right before JP Midnight, and do a third as the clock passes midnight.

Once you have the pass, you can enter any one of four Salvage areas as marked on the map above.

[red]Inside Salvage:[/red]
You can choose between any of the four Remnants Areas to perform Salvage in. Each Salvage area is different, so I will edit this information as it is presented. Firstly, you begin each Salvage with ALL players experiencing ALL possible restrictions. The items for unlocking the restrictions are as follows:

Job abilities
- Duplicatus Cell - Removes Sub Job restraint
- Incus Cell - lets you equip weapons/shields
- Opacus Cell - unlocks abilities and WSes
- Praecipitatio Cell - unlocks magic

HP / MP
- Humilus Cell - unlocks max Hp
- Spissatus Cell - unlocks max Mp

Attributes:
- Congestus Cell - removes VIT Down
- Velum Cell - removes INT Down
- Pannus Cell - removes STR Down
- Pileus Cell - removes MND Down
- Mediocris Cell - removes CHR Down
- Fractus Cell - removes DEX Down
- Nimbus Cell - removes AGI down

Equipment:
- Virga Cell - Equips Rings/Earrings
- Cumulus Cell - Equips Body
- Castellanus Cell - Equips Head
- Radiatus Cell - Equips Hands
- Stratus Cell - Equips Feet
- Cirrocumulus - Equips Waist
- Undulatus - Equips Ranged

The above items are obtained from killing mobs within salvage. There are a number of theoreys on the order to allow people to obtain items in, I’m sure you can work out what’s best for you. What I will say, is make sure you have a competent leader, and a group that works well together and LISTENS and ACTS quickly. Work out orders of items before entering, have one person calling out who to lot what as they drop, and KEEP MOVING as you work out drops.

Temporary items are obtained from checking Armory Crates:

MP/HP/TP
- Strange Milk - Regen Drink, 5Hp/tick
- Strange Juice - Refresh Drink, 5MP/tick
- Dusty Potion - 300 HP potion
- Dusty Ether - 300 MP potion

- Braver's Drink - increases all attributes
- Champion's Drink - increases crit. hit rate
- Monarch's Drink - effect of Regain (TP are gradually restored)
- Gnostic's Drink - effect of Pax (Enmity generation is reduced)
- Cleric's Drink - Divine Seal + Erase
- Sheperd's Drink - restore's pet HP
- Wizard's Drink - Increases Int

General Information:
Sneak and Invisible do work in salvage.

You will need to go equiped properly if you expect to get far. Reraisers, Potions, Au Laits, Prism/Sneak. TAKE MELEES WHO CAN USE H2H NATURALLY. For the first part of Salvage, they will be both your only source of damage, and your tanks. MNKS, NIN, THF, WAR, PUP. DRG works well too, summon. Wyvern before entering.

Generally, it seems that you want to spend some time farming and get some people fully unlocked in everything that makes their job work - spreading items between people is not a good idea (although it may seem unfair).

Each floor has a porter at the end of it, and if one person uses the porter, the entire group will be ported. When you go up to the next floor, you get full HP/MP, so raise people before porting if possible.

Silver Seas Remnants:

Drops currently confirmed to be seen from Silver Seas Remnants: Anu Hands.

First Floor: Choose between east and west on first floor - east contains a bunch of Ship Crew (Fomor type). The last room before porting up contains a MASS of mobs, which will respawn when killed. Dont bother to fight them, just one person sneak/invis past. They will seem to aggro when you do, but they act like penguins when you are sneak/invis'ed. They will follow, but no aggro. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b283/Delekii/crewaggro.jpg

Second Floor: Again, choose between 4 paths - NW NE SW SE. NE contains again, Ship Crew, and a few imps.

Third Floor: Third floor begins with a room containing many "Gears" (mechanical type mobs) and one Imp type mob that flies at faster than flee speed, and will run away periodically, named something like Devilete. Gears do aggro, and hit very hard. Killing the NM Imp opens the door to go to the next room. Killing all the gears in the room pops an NM Gear named Gyroscopic Gear. It dropped Anu Hands for us (WHM/BRD/SMN set). In the next room are 4 Archaic Ramparts (mini-castles), a bunch of Archaic Gear and Archaic Gears (think clusters). They ALL LINK and they are SLEEPABLE. The Rampart will pop undead mobs as a TP move, and are not that hard to kill. This is as far as we got with 6 people, and could have got further with more understanding. http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b283/Delekii/rampart.jpg

On this floor off the Gears, we got two "Silver Sea Card" drops. We have NO idea what they are or what they are for yet. They are Ex only, not Rare.

According to the maps, Silver Seas Remnants is 5 floors, we only saw 3 so far.

Bhaflau Remnants:

Drops currently confirmed to be seen from Bhaflau Remnants: Enyo's Leggings, Nemain's Sabots, Anu's Tiara, Hoshikazu Tekko, Enyo's Cuisses.

First Floor: East path - Contains Bombs, Crawlers, Trolls, Scorpions. Be careful of the PLD troll, fighting it without adequate killing power will lead to a constant Diamondhide > Cure IV cycle.
West path - Bombs, Trolls, Flans, Wamouras.
At a few points on the first floor there are "Sockets" that you can trade a cell to, which will pop an NM. On defeating the NM, you will recieve a duplicate of the cell (1->2). Dont go on to the second floor without adequate magic unlocked, because the second floor contains extreme puddings (extremely weak to magic, extremely strong to everything else).

Second Floor: More Scorpions and Trolls, some Puddings (which take massive Magic damage, and not much else). Be prepared to deal with a lot of links on the second floor.

Third Floor: More Puddings, Archaic Gear/s.

Fourth Floor: Archaic Gear, Archaic Gears, and Archaic Chariot. Chariot can see through invisible, while Gears cannot, seemingly.
http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/Dem...haicChariot.jpg

Fifth Floor: Long-Bowed Chariot http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j199/Dem...owedChariot.jpg
At the moment, nobody has worked out a valid strategy for this mob, or isnt sharing yet. Speculation includes killing NMs on previous floors to weaken it, among other things. Hits incredibly hard, dropping a PLD into red in about 6 hits, and moving faster than +25% movement speed. In the 25 minutes that one group had before they timed out, they were able to drop it to just 90%.

Zhayolm Remnants:
Lacking a lot of info about Zhaylom, but at minimum first floor contains numerous weak puks, and Mamool.

Arrapago Remnants:
I am yet to read about a SINGLE group entering Arrapago Remnants - are undead really that bad? Lol.

Did Zhayolm Remnants,
all of the rooms seemed full of weak puks, and a hallway had a Mamool Ja Zenist.
We were completed unprepared. Every single person had every single pathos. we were all naked without weapons and couldn't do anything but mindlessly attack.

Tactics I can see.

Early into Salvage before you get imbuened items I recommend the following:

DRG!!!!!
MNK!!!!!
PUP ( Can't use Deploy for Puppet to attack untill Patho lifted but H2H skill is good early on )

Hi Potions!!!
More Hi Potions!!!
Food!!!

DRG should use Call Wyrvern outside of the Salvage, while inside the Wyrvern basically is all powerful and ended up tanking the first two monsters for us, and doing all the damage untill it died ;; no way to prolong it's life without an JA.

Basically have everyone mage or Melee just attack the monsters using H2H it's the only thing you can do...

There may be various floors, we made it to the 2nd with 8 people since our Mnk died and had to Hp before we got subjob and magic unlocked.

I recomend bringing some meds for the beginning.

Honastly, this update and Salvage is prolly the most fun I'v had in a LONG time. Between the drops, the new challenge, and this much fun, SE did a good job finally I think. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me about it.

Fighters drink = Accuracy up, and I must say it's very useful on the last floor as mob evasion goes quite high (I was using meat dishes).

Also TH does have an effect. We got 4 or 5 total of those upgrade items and got them all once our THF could eq As. Armlets and THF Knife.

Great fun.

When you get one of the pathos unlocking items (let's say... the one that lets you use magic), does it unlock it for the group or just one person?

You can trade them between players and bazaar it. You can also keep spares and (possibly) use them in your next run. I think this is essential as it can save a lot of time on the lower floors.

But it was priceless to see 18 naked people fighting 1 wamouracampa. . . so funny.

Anyway my LS is going again tomorrow, FTW! We need what to do and we can skip some mobs and head straight for the chariot thing.

Er, on that floor you will have to fight some gear thingies, there is a cluster, I'd advise you don't fight it, unless it has high chance to drop an item.

It can own everyone, has very damaging aoes, WHM is a must for Caga and benedictions. It can do aoe damage of upwards of 600ish.

It also has a location specific move, in that if you are out of melee range of it you will eat a nice 500something damage.

We got it to 25% before time ran out.

Salvage looks great so far, and seems once you get a route and strat going you can easily farm with a few LS friends. The problem right now is locating where each of these 3 items drop from. If one of the items, let's say the third tier item needed to upgrade fully, drops off of the Mega Boss then it would be harder to do w/ one or two parties I think.

I can't say for sure because we didn't get to fight it but I'm hopeful of this new event.

Did you talk to him while you were on your 75 job? It's a simple mistake but remember that the npc will not give you a pass if your already a 65+ but speaking to him on a lower lvl job.

Just finished the B Remnants. We lost, but made it to the final floor. Some things of interest and tips.

-Now we know why Assault kept giving us RRers and Hi pot tanks. >.<

-Buffs get wiped upon entering, don't bother.

-Like most people said, Dragoons are very good here. You can have your wyvern out before you enter and, at the start, he is far and away the toughest thing in your ally. Next to that are Monks. We had 2 monks and 1 Drg and we could bounce hate between us pretty effectively.

-The block on your magic extends to ninjitsu, blu spells, bard songs, and summoning

-Damage Delaers wind up being your tanks most of the first floor, make sure whoever gets the first "weapons" item also gets the "Hit Point" and various abilities ones. We ended up having our Dragoon and one of our Warriors tank most of the first floor.

-Even though you're naked and gimped to hell, the monsters on the first floor hit like little girls. We did 90% of the first floor with no SJs or magic.

-They seemed to follow normal agro rules. Everything we encountered behaved like it should. as for what that was.

1st floor- Bombs, Crawlers, Trolls, Scorpions
2nd Floor- More Scorpions and Trolls, some Puddings(these were absurdly weak to magic, like 1300 on a tier 3 spell. I don't know if that's normal pudding dmg or not)
3rd Floor - More Puddings, maybe other stuff*
4th Floor - "Gear" type monsters and a big Chariot thing.*
*Our tours of the 3rd and 4th floor were far from comprehensive, there is likely more types of mobs we missed.

-Each floor has a porter at the end of it. If one person makes it to the porter, up the whole alliance goes, regardless of if their mid-fight or not. It seemed like a good idea to have job that would be sort of useless in the mindless attack part to snoop ahead and sit by a porter for when everyone's ready to move up.

-Prism Powder and Silent Oil both work. This, along with the above point, allowed us to jump very quickly to the 4th floor after some scouting.

-The variety of restore items seemed to increase greatly as we went up in floors. First floor was mainly with some Stats, SJs, Weapons, and Magic. Second floor we saw alot more Magic, Weapons, and SJs, along with some basic armor. Third floor was alot more varied armor. Fourth floor we never killed anything cause the monsters kept warping away(see below). It seemed like a good idea to spend the first floor focusing buffs on a "tank" character and 1 or 2 healers and DDers, and then move up to the second floor to widen your selection. We cleaned out the first floor and got *Alot* of repeat items that did great things like Restore the INT of my monk >.>

-The "Gear" type monsters on the 4th floor seemed like the agroed sound(hard to say, they didn't have easily identifiable fronts) but would "tele" somewhere cloesly after agroing. I ran through 2-3 of these rooms willy nilly scouting and agroing, only to be confronting by some of those very mean "Cluster" type monsters later on the floor. I can't help but wonder if they didn't all tele away and cluster up when they got agro.

-We got 1 armor upgrade drop, from a random monster on the first floor. it was Namain(spl?) Sabots, for Morrigan feet. This was with no TH.

I'm sure there's more but I'm exhausted and this was mentally taxing. Sorry for the sentence fragments and horrible typos and I hope this was/is of some use to people.

This thing is actually pretty easy with 18 players, my group made it up pass the Archiac gears/Chariots to the 4th floor of Bhaflau Remenats. Some Archiac Gears seems to just teleport themselves when slept or agro very strange, maybe they have a high drop rate on armors.

The armor drop rate is a bit low in general. 18 players 1 thf and 1 /thf.

We got 1-2 Anu's Tiara, and 1 Nemain's Sabots.

Ran out of time on the last floor with relatively low death counts - 3 deaths total.

I haven't had this much fun since they introduced assault lol

Good Job SE, it's about time XD

Imperial :
You can trade them between players and bazaar it. You can also keep spares and (possibly) use them in your next run.

specifically says that you must not have any of the items when you enter or it won't let you in.

It's best if all of your melee have hand-to-hand skill on their main, (sam, drk, drg, pld, rng, blu, and even blm are almost useless)the mobs at the start are like lvl 55-60, they don't hit hard but no h2h skill = no dmg. That means melee should mainly be mnk, war, nin, thf (lolpup skrew that), with capped h2h and you'll do great.

I'd just suggest to do your best to choose 1 main tank (nin, since pld is useless on this). After you get 1 whm to unlock spellcasting, have a ninja get spellcasting, they can then ninjitsu nuke and that should be more than enough dmg to tank since ppl won't have weapons. then do your best to fully gear your 1 tank, a fully unlocked nin could easily solo the mobs on the first floor, and that'll let your whole alliance live, then just work on unlocking what's necessary on the others.

Can use "reraiser" and "hi-reraiser" at the start, and au-lait drinks (pamamas au lait and persekios au lait both last 10 min) you should fly through mobs if everyone has these. and once ppl start getting stuff unlocked, this should be tons easier.

My group was unlucky, we didn't have many ppl with hand-to-hand capped, and wiped early on when those people died. if you stick to DD that has hand-to-hand skilled and capped, and you toss hate around, you should have no problem getting items to unlock abilities. And i'd highly suggest just picking 1 ninja to buff up and beat the hell out of the starter mobs before unlocking stuff for other DD, it would be a ton easier.

Next time I try to get a group together I'm going to try to stick with mnk, nin, war, thf, whm and bard. rdm and blm are slightly useful but not as much, at least on the first floor.

Great info and a map thats very easy on the eyes, thanks biggrin.gif

It seems as though people have been getting random drops at least once every run. I'm very curious to see what the final "treasure" at the end will be. Possibly one of the 3 needed upgrade gear that is more rare, or is only attainable by reaching the end. Perhaps some of the synethsis materials needed?

Edit: Does anyone happen to know if the "Assault" effect gear works inside Salvage zones? I know that the Assault earring i have works on the Ashu Talif quest BCNM so theres a good chance that it does.

(lolpup skrew that)

Winner of tardtacular proportions.

Anyway, I did Bhaflau today, was pretty fun, we made it to what appears to be the last boss, and he raped us in seconds. It used a move called Homing Missile and it did anywhere from 300-1,250+ damage to all members and its not blinkable. His defense was extremely high as well, my NIN75 using katanas were doing less than 10 damage per hit, I didn't notice its HP dropping much, if at all. Hes pretty rough, but there might be a way to weaken it considerably, just haven't quite figured that out.
