Just got a dragon talon.
I'd rather not say where but I think it's kinda obvious especially if you know the history of some of the areas.

I did this for the first time yesterday and failed by 1 dig. I tried again today and ended up getting a choco whistle cupon while digging around in thagori canyon.

Parasite Worm in Jugner Forest.
It seemed oddly more difficult to dig there. I was digging on a rocky slope, and I got the "You're right over it!" message 5 times, but no chest. Moved a tiny bit, dug again, voila. It's never taken me more than 4 digs to get the chest before when directly over it...

Xkitten :
I've done it twice and got extremely lucky I guess. Yesterday I got a Titanic Sawfish which goes for about 200k on Gilgamesh. Today I got a Dragon Talon which was going for 200k but the last 2 sold for 50k. I'm not going to say which area I got them. Thats for you to find out!!

Um, hi! I dug up a saltwater set in Pashow Marshlands, as well as a Parasite Worm in La Theine Plateau.
I have only found the treasure twice, and I've played it every day since release... I'm not very good am I?

Any tips for digging in Pashlow? Maybe I was just doing it wrong (it was my first attempt) but when I tried there, it looked like the treasure was on one of those ledges and I couldn't find a single way to get up there. Kept digging as close as I could and didn't get past "...." until I was in the last couple dig attempts, and even then I believe it only got to "You're getting close" or somesuch... Though I know the treasure moves everytime you attempt, I'm reluctant to try again somewhere where I could easily miss it.

For those of you having trouble digging up the treasure I'll share my 'system'. By the way, even if you follow these steps you can end up failing since the 19 dig limit can be very unforgiving. It can take up to 6 digs to get the chest out of the ground even after you found it.
1) Move to the ??? marker so that your red arrow/marker is on top of it. Zoom in on your map with 'page up' (or down, I forget) to be more precise.
2) Dig
3) Move forward one choco length (the length of your chocobo).
4) If you've moved further away move backwards two lengths and dig again and keep going back 1 length at a time. If you moved closer move 1 more choco length forward and repeat.
5) Once you've started moving further away again, go back to where you seemed closest (if you did it one step at a time you'll jsut have to go back one length)
6) Pick a direction (left or right) and repeat steps 2-4 but for left/right instead of forward/back.
7) Once "You're right on top of it" then stop moving and keep digging.
*It helps to be in first person mode for this to avoid camera and direction movement
**My experience tells me that the "You're right on top of it" has a margin of error of approximately your chocobo's circumferance, which is why I use one chocobo length as a unit.
That's what I do. I hope it helps. I've only failed at getting the chest once out of the 7 attempts I've made so far, and even then I found the chest but I didn't have enough digs left to get it out. It's pretty simple since you're narrowing it down one dimension at a time but also very complete.
