Only things to watch for at lv51 in Gustav Tunnel...

Leeches seem to resist sleep BADLY.

Fire weather will make your Freeze damage SUCK BALLS.

I had pretty much all the INT gear I could get my hands on for there, and still would get resisted on nearly every sleep when they didn't get 1-shot, as well as get a crappy 10% resist every time fire weather came around. Careful there.

I just stunned and drained when freeze resisted, then switched to tornado full time.

If you have someone to help (which means it isn't technically solo, I know) then Caedarva Mire is great from 59-62 or so.

If you take the eastern exit from town right as you get off of the boat and zone into Mire, there are 5-6 Chigoes that spawn just to the south of the tunnel that you come out into. I'd imagine you could sleep them then run to safety and nuke as they approach like the Fosselized Flea strategy mentioned here, but what I did was a little easier.

I have a 75 PLD on a mule account who I just brought as PLD/WHM. I'd put up ProIV, Stoneskin, and Blink and have him run out and aggro a Chigoe and bring it back to me where I'd nuke it... cutting out the need to use sleep and his Auto-Regen from WHM sub was almost always enough to keep his HPs in the range for Parade Gorget to be working. /RDM with Phalanx might be enough to keep from ever taking damage at all, but I opted for Auto-Regen from /WHM.

It might be a bit iffy at 59 because they tended to resist more than I'd like them to, even with HQ staves+AF gloves+Shaman's Cloak, but once I got Flare it became a cakewalk. As a mithra, my Flares left them low enough that Fire1 would finish the job while they beat on my shadows (I went /NIN). With a few more INT (read: Taru) they should be easily one-shottable. By 61 I was one-shotting the lower level ones regularly (1040 HPs or so on them). I've gotten as low as 149 base XP on them at 61 and as high as 230 (sanction bonus, no ring) so they'll last until 62 but then they probably become more effort than they're worth. At 59+60 it's definitely better XP/kill than Bats in Newton though, especially if your Newton XP is 0/hr because it's always camped like on Unicorn.

Lots of people have second accounts or friends' accounts they can borrow or such these days though, so I figured I'd mention this camp+strategy.

even tho the guide says use freeze on the leeches in Gustav, you switched to Tornado once you got it and had better results? (not meant to sound like a flame, just curious as to why you did the switch)

Two reasons to go Tornado over Freeze in Gustav.

Reason1: AM1's of higher level are slightly stronger, those few extra damage may help if you just BARELY can oneshot the mob, Freeze damage varies very slightly if no resist, but leech only needs 1hp left to link 2 gobs onto you for -350xp and -5min death sickness.

Reason2: Weather-Wind (tornado) won't be affected by the fire wheather. For me at 51-52, nq staff Freeze with weather or day resist leaves mob at 1-5% hp and possible linkage with IT++ gobs.

To be honest the only time Freeze really gave me a problem not 1 shotting the leechs was before 51 (Ice Staff.) By the time I hit 52 Freeze was always 1 shotting the leechs except when I'd get a major resist which wasn't any more common then. Moldavite Earring really helps adding a few extra dam if you don't have that it might have been the difference, apart from that I have really average gear tbh and am Hume.

Before heading to pso'xja i made sure to use search and make sure it wasn't taken, also sending /t to any solo players who were /anon.
when i get there though i see it's occupied... a whm and blm were duoing the pet both level 54 but because they were in a pt along with a large number of others in the zone i didn't notice them, they had comments on too but were jp and only the blm used auto-translate. And with them bring japanese and not understanding english i had a hard to not looking like a fool as if i hadn't checked it was available.
This serves as more of a warning than anything, i'm sure most of you use search anyway but just be extra sure the camp is available before you head there.

EDIT: i'm really not having much luck with this, i stayed at the camp so i could have it once they are done and had a comment on the whole time. 3 hours later they leave so i buff up and use empress... none of my freezez 1 shot but im ok with stun > bliz II my gear
and with melon pie i have total of +25 int.
on the 3rd bat i get this:

as you see i slept it but it had 50% hp left and i panic, not sure which is faster or if i have time i opt to escape instead of log out forgetting ill lose my buffs when i rezone. Angry enough about that as a reach the slope to the op station i see another blm on his way to the camp, so i send like 20 /t and get no reply then eventually get the {i don't speak any english} line. he beats me to the zone so i dont enter so i can keep buffs for a potential exp pt (yeah right lol). Now he is in there /anon with no comment so no one knows the camp is taken, not only that he was clearly already on his way to camp when i was in there WITH a comment /sigh.
On top of this he sends a /t after i warp that he is logging in 30 min...

I need some help on a place to solo. I'm 56 now and every time I try out that camp in Pso'Xja, there's always someone there. Once I saw two people there (one was waiting). Is there another place I could go to solo? I tried the previous camp in Gustav Tunnel but the xp was slow (still better than nothing) and I had a few people killing the goblins for farming (including the shepherds ><)

I saw in another thread (on alla) about melee in the newton camp for 60-64 and have see nthis myself once but never used the camp as i partied (painfully) through those levels, well now they are moving in on other camps, today there was a 63 BLU in the bibiki bay camp... considering how good blu can be for colibri i found that disturbing.
I know i know, they have a right to be there too etc etc.

To the OP if you care to fix it:

For your "(good camp)" 31-34:

It seems SE has modified the mobs in Beauc. Glacier. Gigas no longer have pets, but Gobs now do. There is a bst gob by the (I-9) camp but it moves so often in such an enormous area (I'm talking at least 1-2 grids worth) that it's nearly impossible to get decent xp while avoiding adds. Only viable solution would be to have a "PL" kill all surrounding mobs so you can have free reign on the bst.

I would suggest Attowah Chasm from 29-32 then move elsewhere...I haven't found any spots yet that work well. Perhaps the OP camp you had described as camp #1.

You really don't chain rats like you would pet mobs. With the rat men, you can usually
get a chain 1. At 72 in aydewhatsit, I can get a chain 2 but thats about it. I can go to
that nyzul isle place and spend the same amount of mp to kill a rat and get more xps
than in aydewhatsit, but there is only 2 mobs that I can pull safely, plus the horrid
repop. So Ima just suck it up for the Qarchers til I hit 73. GL!

Get some BLM buddys to take you to halvung. I used to manaburn with my 64 BRD with a bunch of 75s for exp whenever i didn't feel like pulling or i wanted to sleep. It's what i'm about to do soon tongue.gif

I'm in Newton as of now...been here since 65. RDM + BLM duo here can time nuke the pets form lower level and instant kill.
Great xp if you're RDM has good Elementel Skill (ie. capped or close) Better yet, if you have another BLM friend, even better...dual flare should never have a problem killing.

edit: i'm 68 right now getting 8k-ish/hr

Heres my 2 cents on Gustav Tunnel.

at the camp the gob will go out of casting range. I slap on Invis and run along the left wall just around the corner and cast Freeze. This can keep chains going just be sure to 1 shot.

Cape Terrigan was fuckign horrible. too many links not enough firepower.

Im currently levelling BLM on a mule (different race, totally different job and makes a nice escape from the norm), have just hit 54 in gustav. Didnt have many resist problems at all but all the guides say next stop Pso'Xja. My question is, are there any suitable alternatives as I really don't have much "free time" for CoP missions on a mule :|
If not, how far through CoP do I have to be for access?
Thank you in advance for any reply
(and sorry if someone already asked I've scanned forums for what seems like forever and can't find anything)

First off, I'm new to the whole BLM solo club. I solo sea/imps on SMN (75, merited, yadda~) and RDM (75, merited, yadda~), and the concept of one-shot kaboom made me pick up my 42 BLM, dust it off, and push on to 75.
I'm 62 now and realizing quickly that while Bibiki Bay pets completely own all ownable ass, every other black mage on Garuda knows this too, and it's more often than not, Bay is camped to the brim (yeah, even the BST that pops to the north with the other bunnies..sad, I know).
So, after a level and a half of fun, I went looking for a new spot. I read the guides and whatnot, and everyone said "Bibiki>Newton>Aydeewa." Not really up for fleas, I went to Newton and found myself a little spot that's become my "only half paying attention solo EXP spot." I have terrible ADHD so really one-shot is the way to go for me, and just casting invis and /heal doesn't suck too bad.

Now like I said I'm 62, and Mithra. Gear for those interested:
BLM 62 / WHM 31
Vulcan's Staff, Morion Tathlum
Wizard's Petasos, Mohbwa Scarf +1, Moldavite Earring, Phantom Earring +1
Black Cotehardie (Verm. while healing), Wizard's Gloves, Serket Ring (leftover WHM gear lawl), Tamas Ring
Red Cape +1, Penitent's Rope, Savage Loincloth, River Gaiters

Way to camp is same as the other with the tougher Goblin (which I always seem to get resists on his bat ><). Trade Twinkletoes at entrance 2k, warp to Mine Shaft 2716, exit into Newton, run straight, take left route at turny-flashy-thingy, run straight, stop! Once you hit the area where you see Goblin's Bat to your left and right, go up the right side and follow the route, jump down onto the platform below, and follow that little deck back to a square beside the Goblin Foreman and Goblin Lengthman.

I keep invis up almost the whole time and my routine kinda goes like:
SS > invis > wait for movement > flare bat > bat asplodes > invis > heal > repeat

Yeah, Flare is probably overkill. I do 1154 damage, no more, no less, not firesday. I tried Tornado once, and it had about 10% HP left, so whatever that means. Anyway, the Goblins have a rotation that takes them down onto the deck that connects their big deck (that they walk on 90% of the time) with your little paddock. I found out that they can see you there if you're not invis ;3

It's not fabulous exp, but it passes the time. I get 86 to 130/kill, and if I were paying attention, I could probably get chains consistently (made it to chain 3 from full MP once, since my MP is around 380 by the time goblin resummons bat).

Dunno if this helps anyone or not, but I like my little hideaway :3
Enjoy it on your own server; until I hit 64, it's mine on Garuda!♪

~Inii

P.S. Staying invis = win.

P.P.S. I didn't mention, but the coffer pops here, right before your very eyes. I haven't gotten a key yet, but hey, I got a big box smile.gif
