Shivering Isles is the new Oblivion expansion pack for 36O and PC. The size of shivering isles compared to cyrodil is about 25%, it will include 30 - 40 hours of gameplay (quests and adventuring) , and 10 new creatures. The gate to this new realm will be in the middle of Niben Bay on an island near Bravil. The story behind this sounds pretty awesome Im really excited about it. There is a 6 page article in the new february issue of Official Xbox Magazine, also on the disc is a video and downloads.

I heard Elder Scrolls IV is very time consuming. It's probably something I need because I've been doing some frightening shit lately. I've been actually going to work, getting prepared for school, and been thinking about calling up some of my friends (Well, not really lol.). Way too constructive for me. It's been fucking freaking me out! A game like this may put me back on the right track. I might check it out by renting it.

Its definately a buy. Ive had it since last april and I still find new stuff to get into, and if you invest in the downloadable content and expansions you'll be playing it for years to come.

I haven't even started Knights of the Nine, yet. @_@

But, yeah, there's a ridiculously large amount of things to do in this game.

Adding another 25% more of land area to explore is just mind-boggling.

I can't wait. ^^b

I agree 25% is about 10k sq miles i think (cant remeber how big cyrodil is). And I also havn't started Knigts of the Nine (semi-expansion/guild). I'm holding off to get them at the same time. Hopefully within a few months.

The changes made to the combat make Oblivion a much better game. Standing less than an inch away from something in Morrowind and praying you hit it instead of missing for the 200th time made it incredibly frustrating at times. Still a great game, but Oblivion is :love:love:love:love:love

closing the first oblivion gate took me about 6 hours and countless restarts. i went unprepared. guess your brother is some sort of shield genius.

this is easily the hardest rpg ive played i think

Expansion pack with Werewolves prz, just like Blood Moon would be nice.

I love Oblivion. And I think it is WAY better than Marrowin (even though that game itself is good). Can't wait for Shivering Iles, but I haven't even touched the Knights of the Nine stuff yet. (don't you have to beat the main quest first to access that mission?)

other than me. i was sick and stuck in bed for days... i watched as my brother beat the whole game lol

Trust me when I say.... your brother may have "beaten" the game, but I bet there is a shitload of things he still hasn't done. All the side-quests, missions, and free-form stuff can't be completed in just days. Hell, the Dark Brotherhood faction quests alone take a few days to complete. (best one in that quest-line is the "Who Dunnit?" quest... that was a blast!)

EDIT:
Come to think of it, I haven't even touched the main quest after I got out of the Tutorial Dungeon. Been too busy with all the other goodness!

the story is better than i thought it would be. i'm so used to console rpgs over the years that i expect over the top combo breakers in my fighting and 1 evil boss guy that wants to destroy the world. this game is pretty refreshing in its mundaneness. and i am limping out of every single dungeon no matter how small it is.

how the heck do i kill a will-o-the-wisp? he has no trouble killing me for certain but I cant seem to find a spell that hurts the fella. that or i'm missing.

Not sure... I thought Magic was the only thing that hurt those... But I never stuck around to find out. The first time I encountered one, and saw I was doing Nil-damage to it, I fled. And everytime I even think there's one nearby I run my happy Orc ass the other way...

yar regular weapons cant hurt it so i went after one with an all magic attack. i tried using touch magic and the cloud of gas owned me in my stupid looking tigerface. i didnt make a dent. i tried waiting until it got all glowy and still no luck.

iono i want to beat one in particular so i can find out whats in his stupid lair of treasures. you cant sneak past the dirty cheater so i'm stuck.

If you play this game as a stealth character you can definately beat the game in a week, and I mean all the quild quests too. Of course I did use somewhat of a dirty trick I learned while playing Morrowind. Surprised it worked on this game too.

Highlight below

[white](in order for this to be possible you have to atleast do the Mages Guild Quests up until you got all your recommendations and your staff)

Ok, first off you need Azura's Star, it's a grand soul gem you can use an infinite number of times. Then you need to get the cheapest conjuration spell and and make a spell with it that lasts one second. Use it over and over until you get 100 conjuration and get the summon Xivilai spell. You either need a soultrap spell or enchantment for this next step. I used my mages staff with soultrap enchantment but if you picked a different one you may have to use a trick similar to the conjuration skill up spell. All you need now is 5 pieces of equipment (any type) and the spell Chameleon.

Now, first you summon your Xivilai and cast soultrap on it. Make sure your Azura's Star is empty and proceed to kill your pet by any means. It may take a couple tries with casting the spell or killing him fast enough but it shouldn't be too hard. Once you have a soul captured, go to an Alter of Enchanting and use the Star. Pick any piece of equipment and enchant it with the spell "Chameleon" and it will give you 20%. Do this 4 more times on other pieces of equipment and you have an always on 100% Chameleon effect.

Sounds cheap but the game allows you to do this and it's not a glitch. It's better than invisibility because even if you attack an enemy they will never see you. Okay, maybe it is cheap but it's fun.[/white]

All in all, fun game to mess around on.
