Not really...Striders aren't a new thing, they have been in WOW for a long time. The just weren't mounts until now. Hmmm...I wonder if FFXI got the idea of owning your own mount from WOW. :wink

FFXI came out before WoW by like 2 years ish in Japan.... Final Fantasy series itself came out before Warcraft... Chocobo's came into existence before Blizzard made Diablo 2... Or had just made.

O and I have no idea why the thing @ the bottom is so big I don't have any info in the sig area.

Aside from both being big birds, striders and chocobo don't look all that much alike, and striders weren't originally created for the same purpose as chocobos, while the idea of riding birds may have come from ffxi, I doubt that the strider design did.
Anyway, it's true that alot of games seem to borrow ideas from each other. WOW started out giving it's players extra exp for being rested, now FFXI gives rings to it's players that do basically the same thing. How long have Elvaan been in the Final Fantasy series? They look similar to the Night Elves in Warcraft... And night elves have been in the Warcraft storyline since the beginning. Final Fantasy has been out before WoW, when WoW came out, all of a sudden FF11 gives its players ownable mounts, I think FF11 are the ones ripping ideas off.
